Welcome to PWInsider.con's live, ongoing coverage of Stand Alone Wrestling's The Big Bang as the promotion, in conjunction with former Phoenix Championship Wrestling promoter Donnie B, debuts in Lacey Township, NJ at the Lacey Township High School.
Pre-Show Notes:
They look to have drawn in the area of 800-900 tonight...There was a long line for Mark Henry and the BWO during the VIP signing...A lot of former Mike Sharpe School students, where Nova and Donnie B broke in, are at the show, including Lupus. Lots of old names are working the Old School vs. New School Rumble...Former PCW star Dr. Hurtz played the national anthem on guitar before the show...They have a full size RetroMania wrestling video arcade machine available for fans to play during the show....The school required, smartly, that everyone in the building be masked at all times....MLW Champion Alexander Hammerstone was originally slated for the show but is currently out with an ankle injury. He has been replaced by Homicide.
Jay Curcio vs. Anthony Greene
Greene got a big reaction and got the crowd clapping, coming out to Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Belinda Carlisle's Heaven Is A Place On Earth. Now that I have referenced the lead singer of the Go-Gos, I'm done for the night!
Curcio tried to bully Greene early but was shoved hard down to the mat. Greene rebounded off the ropes and nailed a shoulder tackle, then a bodyslam. Curcio tried to mount a comeback but was clotheslined by Greene, who then rained down with punches in the corner. Greene nailed a series of chops but ate an elbow when he ran into the corner. Greene came back with some big dropkicks. The crowd was completely into him as a babyface.
They went to the floor, where Greene continued working him over with the chops. Curcio cut Greene off and knocked him into the ring post. Back in the ring, Curcio worked over Greene, then knocked him off the top to the floor. The crowd booed the hell out of him. He smashed Greene's face into the apron on the floor and drilled his lower back with forearms and elbows. Green fought back from underneath but was poked in the eyes.
Curcio tossed Greene back in the ring and stomped away at him. He whipped Greene hard into the buckles. He whipped Greene into the corner again and nailed a leaping forearm smash into the corner. Greene was cinched in a side chinlock but the crowd rallied him to make the comeback. He tried to elbow his way out but Curcio slammed him backwards by his hair to the mat.
Greene mounted a comeback and caught Curcio coming off the ropes with a forearm smash. He nailed a dive to the outside. Curcio was tossed back into the ring. Greene nailed a twisting cross body off the top for a two count. Curcio cut him off with a twisting backbreaker across the knee. They battled back and forth with forearms and strikes as they fought their way to their feet, mixing in some chops. Curcio nailed a shining wizard for a two count. He locked a submission on Greene, who made it to the ropes to break the attempt.
Curcio went for a knee strike but it was blocked and Greene nailed one. Greene went to the top but was crotched by Curcio. They battled on the top. Greene nailed a sunset flip powerbomb for a two count. Greene nailed a Killswitch, assisted by the ropes, for the pin.
Your winner, Anthony Greene!
A good match.
Greene, playing the ultra babyface, spent a lot of time going around the ring and playing up to the crowd after.
SAW Cruiserweight Champion Anthony Bennett vs. Bobby Wayward vs. Matt Macintosh
All three are in the ring at the same time. The first fall wins the bout. They all traded armdrag takedowns before facing off. Wayward told the crowd he was winning and ended up slugged by the other two at the same time. Macintosh nailed a great dropkick on Wayward. He and Bennett went back and forth with monkey flips. Bennett escaped a wheel barrow suplex and nailed Macintosh with Wayward trying to pick the bones and score a pinfall.
Wayward turned his attention to Bennett, nailing a series of elbows across the back. He stomped on Macintosh and kept working over Bennett. He slammed Macintosh. Bennett caught him out of nowhere with Sliced Bread #2. Bennett looked super athletic as a Cruiser babyface. Macintosh nailed a big knee to the chest of the champ. Macintosh went to the top for a moonsault but was shoved off by Wayward. Bennett caught Wayward with a Crucifix Bomb and scored the pin.
Your winner and still SAW Cruiser Champion, Anthony Bennett!
Very good Cruiser bout with lots of athletic spots and near falls.
SAW Women’s Champion Kasey Catal vs. Aspyn Rose
Rose offered a hand and Catal disrespected her. They went right after each other and locked up, grappling to the mat and then to the outside. Rose sent Catal into the ring post and sent her into the ring. Catal kicked her as she returned. Rose came back with a hanging DDT off the ropes. It's all back and forth stuff. Rose nailed a standing rear window for a two count.
Rose was cut off by Catal, who sent her into the corner, then nailed a hard chop. She shoved Rose down for a two count. Catal sent her into the buckles and kicked away at her lower back. She curb stomped her into the buckles and covered the challenger for a two count. Catal cinched in a side chinlock. The crowd rallied Rose to escape, the biggest reaction they had received thus far. It's a very wrestling 101 family crowd tonight.
Rose made a comeback and nailed a knee to the face. They battled back and forth with forearms on their knees. Catal nailed a back suplex on Rose for a two count. Rose caught Catal and went for a pinfall but was snatched into a pinfall reversal for the pin.
Your winner and still SAW Champion Kasey Catal!
SAW Tag Team Champions The REP vs. The Amazing Graysons (with Jared Silberkliet)
Jared did some mic work. The idea is he's a trust fund baby. He got some nice heat from the crowd. He promised there would be new champions tonight. He said they would be like everyone else whining that someone else ruined their lives after tonight.
The Graysons are regulars for NEW and WrestlePro. The Rep have been regulars for CZW.
Dave McCall started with Tommy and easily controlled him with some high impact offense before tagging out to Nate Wallace. The Rep nailed a lot of double team offense early on that the crowd enjoyed. Jared did a nice job reacting to all of this and getting a reaction from the crowd. The Graysons finally cut off McCall and spent a long time tagging in and out as they worked him over. McCall did a nice job as the babyface in peril.
Wallace gets the tag but the referee misses it and forces him to the corner, allowing the Graysons to continue the beatings. The crowd is very much into this one. It's old school tag team storytelling 101. Wallace FINALLY get the tag and cleans house. He nailed a pumphandle into a pancake slam for a two count. The Graysons came back to nail their double team Blockbuster. The Rep made the comeback and scored the pin.
Your winners and still SAW Tag Team Champions The Rep
A very enjoyable bout.
Donnie B made his way to the ring. Donnie said he wanted to thank everyone who came out tonight. They were supposed to have the show 18 months ago and they had to postpone. A lot of people weren't sure they could have the show but he was sure because Lacey Township deserved the show. He thanked the Chief of Police of the town for keeping the town as safe and as great as it is and put over the local police department.
Donnie led the crowd in a "We want Mark" chant, bringing out AEW's Mark Henry. Mark said it was good to be in a ring again. The crowd chanted "Sexual Chocolate." He said that he was a family show. He asked the fans to again give the Lacey Township police a round of applause again and asked everyone to support the Rotary Club, who the show is raising money for. Henry said he's going to make a personal donation himself. He said that he's known Donnie B and his brother for many years and asked the crowd to support Donnie. Marc Coralluzzo and the Coralluzzo Collection Agency came out. Marc looks so much like his late father Dennis, it's insane. Marc said he's here to collect the longest outstanding debt in the CCA history, ECW, so they are going to end the BWO once and for all.
Yes, it's ECW vs. The Coralluzzo family. In 2021. Like Sid and Marty Kroft, I am living in the Land of the Lost.
Coralluzzo introduced his team, Rhett Titus (who grew up here), Rik Ratchet (YES, RIK RATCHET) and a big muscled up guy named Trax. Ratchet was announced as a 16 time World Champion. He asked everyone to pay respect to Mr. Mae Young. Henry asked him why he has two different sized shoes on. Marc said he was taking over, which brought out the BWO and Powerchild, who cleared the ring.
