Dummy. Yeah! Cool to see LA Knight (I am guessing at the spelling), formerly known as Eli Drake, in NXT. I love that guy. Great get for NXT.
We are starting off with the women’s finals of the Dusty tournament as Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez are taking on Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon. Raquel worked over Shotzi early on but the tide changed when Kai tagged in. They worked over her leg but the tide turned when Raquel came in. Shotzi tried to hit a rana on her from the apron when Gonzalez was on the floor but she got caught and slammed into the barricade. Ember is on her own now.
Ember kept fighting and hit the Eclipse on Raquel but Kai kept the ref from making the count, saving the match. Shotzi came back and it got very competitive. Shotzi is insane, she did a tope through Ember’s legs, wiping out Kai. The underdogs kept getting two counts on Raquel. These women are doing everything they have in their arsenal.
Raquel destroyed Ember on the ramp then tossed her to the floor. That left Shotzi alone and she succumbed to a uranage, Kai and Gonzalez get the win. Confetti is flying as William Regal comes out to congratulate them and give them the trophy. Vic reminds is that they get a shot at Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler’s tag titles. I wonder if Nia will pull any “My Hole” garbage with Raquel. I think not.
They worked their butts off and left it all in the ring. Great way to start the show.
Johnny Gargano defending the North American Title against Kushida is next.
Kushida is out first. Gargano came out with most of The Way but Austin Theory was missing, so he sent Candice and Indi to go look for him. He then went to the ring.
They are going move for move early on. Then Kushida took control and went to work on Johnny’s arm. The Way are still nowhere to be found.
Johnny made a bit of a save when he did a neckbreaker on Kushida, using the ropes. He then went to work on the challenger, all while selling his left arm. They are going back and forth, with Kushida getting the better of it overall. They are working really hard. Kushida is in top gear.
This is great stuff, I am just taking it all in. Wade keeps saying that no one deserves to lose, and he’s right. Hopefully we don’t get a screwy finish.
Kushida locked in The Hoverboard Lock on the hurt arm. Johnny fought and fought, finally getting to the ropes. They went to the floor and Johnny slammed Kushida into the barricade. But Kushida came back and locked on the Lock. Johnny took him over to the ropes and used them on Kushida’s throat to break the hold. Kushida went to the ramp and Johnny hit One Final Beat. He rolled Kushida in. He hit another One Final Beat and got the pin. It was an amazing match and I loved that The Way wasn’t there, Johnny went back to Johnny Takeover mode and retained the Title. Great stuff.
