IS IT OVER FOR THE UNDISPUTED ERA, TIME FOR OUR MAIN EVENT, CAN IO RETAIN, GYT VS. MSK IN THEIR FINAL, JOHNNY TAKEOVER RETURNS, COOL NEW SIGNING, WOMEN START THE SHOW - FULL NXT TAKEOVER VENGEANCE DAY BLOG

The Grizzled Young Veterans are taking on MSK in the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tourney.  They should be a good one.  I am a big fan of GYV but MSK are great too.  MSK are flying early while the GYV are working their pounding style.  They were in control until Wes Lee made the hot tag and did some ridiculously amazing stuff.  I mean crazy stuff.  I love that he tied in the gymnastics in a way that wasn’t contrived at all, just amazing to watch.

Carter tagged in and showed some great fire on Gibson.  These guys are really getting to show who they really are in this match.

But the GYV came back and James Drake showed he can fly too, hitting a big 450 for a two count.  This is great.

Gibson put Lee on his shoulders on the floor.  Drake came FLYING from the ring with a clothesline/Doomsday Device that destroyed Lee.  Drake is doing stuff I don’t ever remember seeing him do before.

Carter tried to fight off the two on one, and kicked out of a double back cracker.  We are still going!

Lee came back and made the save and got the pin, off the top with a neck breaker to win it for his team.

I love the GYV but there was no shame in losing this one.  All four guys stepped up big time here.  It was fantastic.  WWE strapped the rocket to MSK, let’s see where it goes.

Regal gave them the same moment that the women got after.  This show is fantastic.

In case you missed it, Cameron Grimes is rich thanks to working the stock market.  Good video to hammer that home.  I look forward to where they go with that.

Can Io Shirai keep her Title?  We find out next when she defends against Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez.

It was every woman for herself early, with Martinez the most in charge and Storm taking the most beating.

It’s all action and they are on the floor when Io came off the light pole on the floor to wipe out the other two.  Martinez then tossed her in the steps when they got up.  It’s her and Storm in the ring now, with Toni taking a beating.

She got a two with a Fisherman’s Buster.  Toni got a two with Storm Zero.  She went for another cover when Io hit a moonsault off of the top and covered Mercedes for the pin.

Solid match where they all worked hard and took abuse.  It had some of that three way match stuff that be a little contrived at times, but that is the nature of the beast.  The work ethic was definitely there.

They showed LA Knight signing and his promo from the pre-show.  Dummy, yeah!

Time for Finn Balor to defend against Pete Dunne.

Challenger is out first.  This should be soooooo good.  Champ next.  This feels like a fight.  And, we’re off.

They are working slow, it looks like this will go a while.  Fine by me.  It has an old All Japan feel, where they are doing the early work so that the later work plays off of it.

This is really good at telling the early story to lead to a later one (provided they do that).  Finn is sweating because he is working hard (as is Pete).

This is soooooo good.  It’s proof that people don’t have to jump from the roof and then throw someone into a leaf chipper.  They just have to be amazing wrestlers, and these two are just that.

I am not typing much because it’s so good I am just watching.  I hope you are too.

The finish came after a HARD fought match when Balor ripped out Pete’s mouthpiece.  Double dropkick to the face, Coup de Grace, 1916.  1-2-3.

I loved this so much, for so many reasons.  It’s was awesome work, obviously.  But beyond that, every, single, thing…..meant something.  This was what wrestling is all about.

As Finn was leaving, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch attacked Finn.  They threw him in the ring and beat him down.  Where is the UE?  Literally, Shock The System played as I typed that, and out they came to make the save.

Finn didn’t know what to think.  Kyle called him the champ and offered his hand.  Finn took it.  Up he came.  Kyle seems to want him in the UE.  It sees like he is cool with that.  Finn was about to do the UE symbol when Adam Cole super kicked him in the face.  Kyle was ticked.  Roddy tried to play peacemaker.  Cole kicked him too.  Cole left.  Roddy wasn’t sure what to do, so he did nothing.  Tune in on Wednesday (obviously) and I will be.

Kyle clearly had turned face.  Cole may have been on the track but isn’t now.  So we end up with Kyle respecting the champ, for now, and both men having issues with Cole.  That means a lot of good matches.  Will Roddy side with Cole?  If so, more intrigue.  And what about Bobby Fish?  I loved the angle to end the show.

I loved the show too.  Gargano vs. Kushida and the main event were as good as pro wrestling gets.  There was nothing that wasn’t at least pretty good on the show.  NXT is my jam.

Thanks for reading!
