Are you ready for some . . . Authority? Triple H and Stephanie McMahon make their way to the ring.
Stephanie welcomes everyone to the season premiere of Raw. Hunter says that to say that this year has been a massive success is an understatement.
Stephanie says that when you talk about Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens, Neville, the New Day, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch, they have all made an indelible mark on the WWE.
Hunter says they will take the WWE to heights never before imagined. They will be led by one man. That one man is . . . THE MAN. He is the United States Champion and the WWE World Champion. That man is Seth Rollins. Hunter says live on the WWE Network on Night of Champions, Seth will have the opportunity to cement his legacy forever. He will defend the United States Championship against John Cena. He will also defend the WWE World Title against Sting.
Stephanie mentions the Divas Revolution has inspired competition like never before. We can see history tonight when Nikki Bella defends the Divas Title that she has held for 295 days against someone who has rocked the Divas Division with ‘flair’ . . . Charlotte. Tonight, either Charlotte becomes the new Divas Champion or we will see Nikki become the longest reigning Divas Champion.
Hunter says that is not the only history you will see tonight. There’s more. There will be more history when for the first time ever . . . the man who held the WCW championship on six occasions, the Icon, the legend, the Vigilante will be the man they call Sting.
Sting will be in this ring just six days before he competes for the WWE World Championship. Sting steps into the ring to face the World’s Largest Athlete . . . The Big Show.
Stephanie says history starts now with the Tag Team Title match.
Match Number One: Kofi Kingston and Big E ( with Xavier Woods and TROMBONE) versus Titus O’Neil and Darren Young for the WWE Tag Team Titles
Kofi and Darren start things off and Darren with a rollup for a near fall. Darren with a side head lock. Darren with a shoulder tackle for a near fall. Kofi goes for a back bump and Darren catches him and gets a near fall. Darren with a wrist lock and Titus tags in. Kofi gets away and Big E tags in and Big E with punches to Titus. Big E with an Irish whip and Titus floats over and slams Big E. Titus with a leg drop and he tags in Darren.
Titus with a forearm and Darren with a rake of the chest while The Dudleys stand in front of the monitor to watch the match, using different form than everyone else who watches on the backstage monitor.
Big E with a belly-to-belly suplex and Kofi tags in and hits a slingshot boot to Titus. Kofi with punches and forearms to Titus. Darren tags in and clotheslines Kofi and connects with jabs. Darren with a clothesline and he ducks Kofi and hits an overhead belly-to-belly throw. Big E goes to the floor. Darren blocks the SOS but Kofi escapes Gutcheck. Big E tags in and Darren with a punch to Big E. Woods plays the trombone and distracts the referee. Big E sends Young into the turnbuckles.
Kofi with kicks to Darren and then Big follows. They go back and forth while Woods plays the trombone. Kofi gets Irish whipped into Young for a drop kick and we go to commercial.
We are back and Young punches Kofi. Kofi sends Young to the floor and Big E goes to the floor and Woods plays the Pink Panther theme as Big E prepares to attack but Big E makes the tag instead and Big E sends Darren into a kick from Kofi because he was touching Woods and the trombone. Big E runs Young into the ringside barrier. Big E sends Young back into the ring and Kofi is tagged in.
Kofi with a quarter nelson and chin lock. Young tries to make the tag but Kofi stops him and trips Young. Kofi goes up top but he is met with Darren’s boots. Titus tags in and he connects with a shoulder tackle to Big E and a splash to Kofi. Titus sends Kofi to the floor and then he connects with a big boot to Big E. Titus wants to do the bark but he sees Kofi with a springboard move. Titus catches Kofi and hits three back breakers before tossing Kofi aside.
Titus sets for a splash on Kofi and Big E in the corner but he does the dog bark. Titus with a power slam for a near fall. Big E gets Titus up but Titus gets to his feet. Titus with a spinebuster and then Kofi hits Trouble in Paradise on Young on the floor. Titus takes the slide from the trombone and then Big E hits Titus from behind and Kofi and Big E hit the spike Big Ending for the three count.
Winners: Kofi Kingston and Big E
After the match, The New Day celebrate by the announce table.
The Dudleys make their way onto the stage and the crowd turns on the New Day and chants ‘Get the Tables’ with the Dudleys.
We see footage of Sting tagging with Dusty Rhodes against the Road Warriors at Starrcade 1988.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Stephanie is impressed with Hunter’s dancing.
Seth Rollins enters and he talks about the dance moves. He says they have done an exquisite job by having Sting face Big Show. Seth says he was thinking about what Sting did to the statue, but Big Show will take him out with the trash. What about Cena and Sheamus?
Hunter tells Seth he solved his own problem.
Seth realizes that Hunter meant Cena versus Sheamus tonight.
Stephanie tells Seth to focus on Night of Champions. Seth tells Hunter and Stephanie that they rock.
We take a look back to last week’s Raw when PCB came in and rained on Nikki Bella’s parade.
Renee Young is in the interview area with Charlotte and Ric Flair.
Renee mentions that this is an historic day for the Divas. She asks Charlotte how she prepared.
Charlotte says the Divas title is a dream of hers since she stepped into the ring. Holding up the legacy of her father is enough.
Ric says he is living vicariously through Charlotte. These girls are busting their butts every night to hold world class matches. Ric says he will be watching the match all night long.
Renee mentions that if Charlotte wins, it ends Nikki’s chance to have the longest title reign.
Charlotte says the focus is on winning the title. The Divas Revolution is like an Evolution and watching Nikki lose to Natural Selection is a dream come true. We get multiple woooos from Ric and Charlotte.
