JIM ROSS DISCUSSES KURT ANGLE IN MMA, UNFORGIVEN, TNA, STATE OF TAG TEAM WRESTLING & MORE
by Mike Johnson

Jim Ross posted the latest edition of his Ross Report on his official website at JrsbarBQ.com, discussing a number of topics.

Noting the reports of Kurt Angle looking to fight in the MMA world, Ross commented, "My two cents on this matter is that Kurt should stay as far away from the mixed martial arts world as possible. Yes, there is huge money to be made for a few fights but at what cost? I say the potential risk facing Kurt is too great to even think of traveling down this road. I am not condemning the promoters of this genre as they are in the business of making money and most defiantly Kurt Angle in the MMA world is money but is the risk of permanent injury worth the cash? Not where I sit."

Ross wrote a great deal about the Unforgiven PPV, breaking down the show match by match and noting the mostly positive reviews from the show, Cena's reaction at the show, Trish Stratus' career ending, the Hell in the Cell, Nitro vs. Hardy and more. Ross seemed to greatly enjoy the show, particularly since the focus was on in-ring action as opposed to outside the ring situations and mic work.

Ross also commented on the state of the tag division on Raw, noting that at the Unforgiven show, "The Spirit Squad vs. The Highlanders probably had a better match than most folks, including yours truly, anticipated. For the record, I don’t dislike the tag team division on RAW. I do think it can be better and that is going to largely be dependant on how well the teams perform when they are given the opportunity. I am not calling anyone out here, if I do you will know it in this forum, but RAW has several talents who could energize this area if given the ball. I enjoyed the tag team match at Unforgiven especially since it seems as if the fans have not made an emotional investment yet in these teams as I expect them to in the future."

Ross followed up again on his TNA comments from a few entries back, where he noted the company would be better served trying not to put on a sports-entertainment style product but trying another niche. I sometimes think everyone believes that but Jeff Jarrett and Dixie Carter. Ross noted, "Again, I am not of the mindset to wish ill on any one and the more places the wrestlers can work and make a living the better in my eyes. Most of them that get really good will probably wind up in the WWE any way. TNA can have success if they wrestle more, go young and homegrown. The entire business is about building new, younger stars that get to dance the last dance on TV or PPV."

Ross also noted that WWE's tour of Mexico will likely garner the company $2 million at the gate

JOHN CENA TO APPEAR ON SMACKDOWN THIS WEEK
by Buck Woodward

Thanks to Steven Fernandes for the following. ... WWE.com mentioned that John Cena will appear on Smackdown this Friday to thank Theodore Long for offering him a SD contract. They add Long has something special in mind for Cena.  Read more about it by clicking here.

Interesting to note that in the above article, WWE.com reveals that Vito has passed up his World Title match, and that Undertaker vs. King Booker T will now headline this Friday's debut on the CW Network.  I can't say I blame them, since Undertaker vs. Booker will probably be a lot more appealing to casual fans than Vito vs. Booker, so it is smart to get the word out about it.

In addition to Undertaker vs. Booker, the following matches were taped for this week's show:

- WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. Kid Kash & Jamie Noble vs. KC James & Idol Stevens.

- Batista & Bobby Lashley vs. Fit Finlay & William Regal.

- Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero.

- Matt Hardy vs. Gregory Helms.

- Tatanka vs. Sylvan.

- Sho Funaki vs. The Miz.

- Layla El, Kristal Marshall, Jimmy Yang, Vickie Guerrero, Elijah Burke, Sylvester Terkay, Sharmell, and Ken Kennedy will also appear on the show.
