CLEARING UP WOMEN'S TITLE CONFUSION
by Buck WoodwardÂÂÂÂÂ
Anthony Pires sent this along. ... At the PPV last night, they said the Fabulous Moolah is a 6 time women’s champ.
I checked out the page, and they have Moolah's first title win listed as being her September 18, 1956 win over Judy Grable (back when the title was known as the NWA Women's Title). Then they go with the old WWF history that she never lost the belt until her 1984 loss to Wendi Richter. ÂÂÂÂÂ
Now, according to my records, there were title switches between Moolah and Betty Boucher, Yukiko Tomoe, Sue Green and Evelyn Stevens between 1956 and 1984 that WWE.com isn't recognizing. Of course, that makes for a total of eight title wins for Moolah, so I'm not sure where they got six from (unless they just wanted it to be six so Trish could top it by winning number seven last night). ÂÂÂÂÂ

Speaking of The Rock, thanks to Dave Whitaker for the following. ...The recently released "Spyhunter: Nowhere to Run" video game for the XBOX and PS2 has finally gotten reviewed by various game sites. The game, based upon a movie that has yet to be released (starring The Rock), is published by Midway. They are the originators of the SpyHunter series. Gamespot describes the game as "derivative." This is the XBOX review. Both the XBOX and PS2 versions got a 5.5, which means mediocre. The PS2 review is here IGN.com gave both versions a 6.0. They described the game as "another mediocre remake by Midway." Here is the PS2 review and this is the XBOX review.
Chris Cutrer sent this along. ... I was looking at some photos on WWE.com taken yesterday that shows Trish Stratus preparing for her final match. The one that really caught my eye was a picture of her phone where she had a text message from Ric Flair. The picture is the 4th one at the top. Apparently she sent a text message to Flair asking if it was ok for her to throw some chops in her match. Flair then sent her a message saying "yes please". I bring this up because chops are really one of Flairs signature moves and for her to ask if she could do some in the match in my opinion shows incredible respect for a guy like Flair. It also shows a hell of a lot of class by Trish. I thought that was pretty cool. Click here to check out the pictures.
Thanks to Ed for sending this along. ... Just came from the Bears home opener, which were was a great win for DA BEARS! Miami here we come. But at the start of the 4th quarter the screens at the ends of the endzones showed Triple H! He said something along the lines of him being at the top of the food chain and how he feeds off of those below him, like the Bears defense feeds off of the Bear fans energy. And then he said "Its feeding time". Very cool promo that got a nice pop from the crowd.
John sent along his take on the problems with security at Unforgiven last night. ... I was at Unforgiven last night and all the talk about "Sign Control" was kind of odd. The Air Canada Centre had two entrances last night and where I came in from (the hard camera side entrance), the security guards were stern, but courteous to most. They didn't take any signs away, did a quick pat down and bag search on most and let most people in without much hassle. Also about the signs, I saw someone before the show with a sign that read "Cena is Queen" and Carl DeMarco (WWE Canada President) personally shook his hand and said "It's all in fun, right?" So I don't know how at fault the WWE was about all the signs and the incident down at ringside because it kind of seems to me that one part of security might have been a bit over protective.
Late last week, WWE announced plans for "The Wrestlemania Express", a deal they have worked out with VIA Rail Canada. A special 15-car train will make stops in Toronto, Oakville, Aldershot and London, Ontario to bring fans to Windsor Station, where busses will then take the fans to Wrestlemania at Ford Field in Detroit. The package includes tickets to the event, and you can get more details by clicking here.
WWE.com has an interview, pretty much in character, with John Cena talking about winning the WWE Title last night at Unforgiven, supposedly done in the locker room following the PPV. It focuses on his reaction, or lack of reaction, to the title win, playing up that Cena didn't want to hurt Edge, but "did what he had to do" to win the title. At one point, Cena is quoted as saying "God, I hope Edge is all right". They tried to drive home the point that Cena didn't want to "end his career" and put over the violence of the TLC match. Cena also said (and this is probably a shoot) that the only person in the front row that he knew would give him a hug after the match was his dad. You can check it out by clicking here.Carlito will be in Australia next month for the Nickelodeon Australian Kids Choice Awards, which will take place at the Sydney Entertainment Center on Wednesday, October 11th. WWE is nominated in the "So Hot Right Now" category. Information on voting can be found at http://www.nickelodeon.com.au/.
