EDGE DISCUSSES UNFORGIVEN, TONS OF LEGENDS ABOUT TO BECOME ACTION FIGURES, PRE-SALE CODE FOR WWE RETURN TO NY & MORE
by Mike Johnson

WWE champion Edge was interviewed by Canada.com today, promoting this Sunday's Unforgiven PPV event.

For those of you who want to get first crack at the 11/21 Smackdown/ECW TV taping at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York, there will be a pre-sale startingtomorrow using code BATISTA on Ticketmaster.com

Lots of new WWE Classic Superstars coming out from Jakks Pacific over the next year, including Tank Abbott, Tully Blanchard, Abdullah the Butcher, Lex Luger, Johnny Rodz, Droz, Brother Love, Ernie Ladd, Sherri Martel, Al Snow, Diamond Dallas Page, Bob Backlund, Gene Okerlund, Rick Martel, X-Pac, Zeus (No Holds Barred the movie fame), Ron Bass, and Lanny Poffo.

Jakks also announced that due to a concern by WWE, their giveaway figure in their current promotion (you collect tickets that are included with toys you buy and then send them in to acquire the figure) has been changed from Mr. America to a Hulk Hogan figure that will come with a mask and singlet to allow you to dress him as the "Hulk Machine" as he appeared during that 1980s house show run.

Where Are They Now: Goldust will be appearing at the ECPW Supershow this Saturday 9/16 at the New Jersey Expo Center in Edison, NJ with proceeds from the event going to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. For more information, visit www.ECPW1.com.

Last night's Madison Square Garden ECW taping marked the MSG debuts of Sandman, Sabu, Mike Knox, Balls Mahoney, and CM Punk. At last night's WWE Supershow, the only ECW merchandise being sold were Sabu and Sandman T-shirts. WWE was also selling a combined Supershow shirt featuring stars from both brands.

WWE has flipflopped live ECW events scheduled for the weekend of 10/7-10/8. The revised schedule now features ECW in Hattiesburg, MS at the Multi-Purpose Center on 10/7 and Baton Rouge, LA at the River Center Arena on 10/8 at 2 PM.

Tommy Dreamer has a new column up on the ECW website, looking at ECW's debut in Madison Square Garden last night and their recent trip to South Carolina.

The following sad note was posted on the official website for original ECW music guru Harry Slash, www.Slashtones.com yesterday..."Harry Slash & The Slashtones' ECW collaborator Eddie Sperry passed away last weekend in Thailand. The cause of death is not yet known. Eddie Sperry had worked wih Harry Slash on the mastering of the ECW songs "Path Of Rage," "Total Elimination", "Simply Ravishing", "Huka Blues", "Survive! (If I Let you.)", the themes of Taz, The Eliminators, Rick Rude, Sabu and Taz (his 2nd theme) and also worked on the first version of the ECW theme "This Is Extreme!". Eddie also co-produced the ECW themes for Super Crazy ("El Guererro Nomad") and Tommy Dreamer ("Innovation / Man In A Box"). Eddie worked with Harry Slash on various other projects away from ECW including the Joe Lynn Turner / Arno Hecht / Reckless Fortune version of "The Rain" for the Versailles Records' 2001 tribute to The Cult. Sperry's body of work included numerous film scores and soundtracks as well as recordings with Debbie Harry, Mark Ribot, Rob Thomas, Moby and many others. He also recorded several albums with his own bands, Screed and Hookfoot. Our condolences go out to the entire Sperry family."

UGLY (BUT UNDERSTANDABLE) SMACKDOWN RATING, WWE FINALLY OFFICIALLY CANCELS TOUR, ROCK AND MORE

With the show off of many former UPN stations, Smackdown only did a 1.0 broadcast rating, with a 1.8 share this week.  At this point, you can't take the rating seriously until they debut on CW next week.

WWE has finally mentioned on their website that they have cancelled this week's tour of Israel.  Even though the shows have been off for weeks now, they finally posted the following, "WWE has canceled its two events in Israel scheduled for this month. We appreciate the support of our tremendous fans in Israel, and we look forward to performing in Israel in the future."  The bottom line here is that until the region stabilizes, I don't see the company going over there.

For all you country music fans, WWE.com has an interview up with Toby Keith, done by Jim Ross.  Keith attended last night's show in New York.

The Mercury News has an article today where they talk about how The Rock is trying to become a more rounded, serious actor and how his new movie "The Gridiron Gang" is a step in that direction.  To read it, click here.

Speaking of Rock, BET will be doing a special on his new movie tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT. ... Thanks to Gary G for sending that along.

NEWS AND NOTES ON MVP, HOGAN KNOWS BEST AND MORE
by Buck Woodward

WWE.com is continuing the storyline of Montel Vontavious Porter "negotiating" for a Smackdown contract.  They've posted an interview that was done "via fax" because he refused to grant WWE.com a regular interview and would only answer certain questions.  You can see the "fax" by clicking here.

Also, for those that missed it, Lilian Garcia's incredible performance of America The Beautiful from Raw last night is available here.

Matt sent word that James Laurinaitis, son of Road Warrior Animal, was named the player of the week by the USA TODAY for this week.  Laurinaitis is a linebacker at Ohio State University.
