LATEST NEWS ON WWE LEGAL'S INTERNET TARGETS, ANOTHER RETURN TO NY & MORE NEWS
by Mike Johnson

Several readers have sent word that WWE has gotten YouTube.com to remove videos that the company doesn't even have the rights to or ownership of. The situation is that anything that is tagged with WWE's initials is going to automatically be yanked as soon as YouTube's administration comes across it. From a YouTube perspective, it's easier to yank the material, instead of wasting time and energy investigating whether WWE owns it or not.

As we noted last week on the PWInsider.com Elite section, WWE has also started taking a more active role in policing the MySpace.com website, having sites that proclaim to be WWE personalities (mostly Divas, but I've heard of a few ECW names being shut down as well) or use WWE owned material. I can understand their protectiveness of their performers on this one, as they don't want to be linked to any potential deception online.

WWE has a 11/21 return to Uniondale, Long Island at the Nassau Coliseum scheduled for a Smackdown house show.

Louis Martinez sent along this funny cartoon with Sam Jackson complaining about those Snakes on His Motherf*****g plane, including a certain former WWF star.

Clint Martinez sent word that on the Australian edition of Smackdown, Vito accidentally called William Regal his old WCW ring name of Steven Regal while doing commentary. I'm surprised that slipped through the editing process.

SMACKDOWN TO INVADE ECW, DID WWE MEAN THE STEVE IRWIN APOLOGY, FORMER WWE BIG WIG GETS GREAT NEW JOB, JIM ROSS, ECW TV AND MORE

Mike Informer sent word that former Publisher of WWE publications Barry Werner is now the managing editor of NBCSports.com.  He is also the former Sports Editor of The New York Daily News, which makes him eminently qualified for this position.  As a note of full disclosure, Barry was the person who brought me in to WWE (then WWF) headquarters in October of 1999 and offered me the job of Managing Editor of Raw magazine.  When I decided to continue reporting on the business instead, he was instrumental in getting me a weekly column for the The New York Daily News.  He's one of the good guys, for sure.

Chris sent this one. ... I'm just writing to let everyone in Maine know that Smackdown will continue to air on the former UPN 35 (Now known as My Network Portland.) on Friday nights at 10 PM until it makes it's move to the CW network on WPXT 51 in a couple of weeks.

James Malin sent word that, despite posting Vince McMahon's apology for their tasteless remarks about Steve Irwin, WWE still has video up featuring Matt Stryker's comments on their website.  That company is just amazing sometimes.

WrestleMag reporting. ... Last evening saw the weekly ECW show make the move from Sunday nights to Thursdays, following the replay of Monday Night RAW, as we reported a couple of weeks ago over at WrestleMag.com. The show was quite heavily advertised during the RAW replay, with on-screen graphics appearing several times during the show.  For those who will no doubt be wondering, Matt Striker's promo was not edited at all (quite surprising considering some of the content that WWE or Sky choose to edit out of UK broadcasts), with the reference to the death of Steve Irwin earlier this week airing.

Jim Ross' latest Oklahoma football column is now online.  You can read it by clicking here.  He also has a football related blog up on his website, which you can read by clicking here. ... Thanks to Mike K for sending that along.

Steven Fernandes reporting. ... The Smackdown crew has been added to the ECW shows in Jamestown NY and Niagara Falls NY next weekend since the Israel tour has been cancelled. Plus, The RAW and ECW crew will be stopping over in Honolulu for a show on the 20th of Oct on their way back from Japan.

LOTS OF WWE NEWS AND NOTES

T. Boler reporting. ... I have bad news for St. Louis fans, which is where I am from. The local UPN46 affiliate just changed over to MY46 (My Network affiliate) the day after Labor Day. The majority of the original programming is still intact; however, the 7-9 pm(CST) slot has been replaced by two one-hour soap operas instead. Meaning no Smack Down show for this Friday(9/8). And that will continue 9/22 when the new CW11 takes over on Friday nights. Unfortunately, there was no prior warning given leading up to this.

Mike K. sent this one. ... ABSCBN has an article up about Dave Batista The Philippines promoting WWE's shows there month.

Mike also sent this one. ... The Miami Herald has a story today about how The Rock and his wife have donated $2 million to the University of Miami.

Johnathan Starling sent this one. ... Here's a quick update for those who are looking to see Friday Night Smackdown in Jacksonville. Since the old affiliate has gone to My Network TV, the new CW Network station (WCWJ Channel 17/Cable 9) will be showing Smackdown the next two weekends on Saturday late night from 12-2 AM. Considering it use to be shown from 11-1 on Friday nights, it's not that bad of a move the next couple of weeks.

Mikey Gaga sent this one. ... Vince McMahon may end up having his first main event match at MSG in front of a sold out NYC crowd. According to ticketmaster.com no pairs of tickets are available...when trying to put in 1 ticket you get section 418. WWE's long awaited return home seems to be a big success.

Matt Turk reporting. ... JR’s new blog about wrestling is up on his JR BBQ site.

Jen sent this one. ... This is a video clip of an interview Chris Nowinski did on Fox25 Undercover. There are clips from his wrestling career and he discusses his concussion as well as his book.

TAZZ SHOOTS ON JOEY STYLES, SMACKDOWN UPDATES, COACH AT HIS SECOND JOB, RATINGS NEWS AND MORE

A number of readers sent word that they heard the Coach calling football for the CSTV network last night.

ECW.com has updated Tazz's "Shooting With Tazz" audio, with him shooting on Joey Styles this week.  It's hilarious, with him burying Styles, tongue-in-cheek.  I think.  You can check it out by clicking here.  His burial of Styles is done in response to Styles' column this week, which you can read by clicking here.

WWE released the following today. "On Monday, Raw was the #1 primetime television program among Males 12-17 for the 19th week in a row, and ranked #4 among M18-34.
Considering the fact that SmackDown on Sept. 1 was not seen at all in 6% of the country and pre-empted in an additional 24%, the ability to maintain 90% of the previous week’s household rating is outstanding. It is also important to note that SmackDown switched stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Houston. These new stations represent nearly 19% of the total US. Friday Night SmackDown was the #1 program in primetime among Males 12-17, #2 among Males 18-34, and the top broadcast program among M6-11.  ECW was a top 10 primetime program Tuesday night among M12-17. (Source: Nielsen Media Research)" ... Thanks to Mike K for sending this along.

Jared Cheeseman sent this one. ... The Bakersfield UPN affiliate just switched over to MyNetworkTV, which means fans in Bakersfield will have to wait until Sunday when KTLA out of Los Angeles shows it.

Keith Wilcutt sent this one. ... Neil Cavuto from "Your World" on Fox News interviewed both Linda McMahon and John Cena. He started out by botching the PPV by saying it was sold out on Pay Per View, "which was very rare". He made it seem as though you couldn't even order the event. Besides that, he called John Cena the U.S. Champion and the title below his name was U.S. Champion. He made mention of past stars The Rock & Hulk Hogan and then talked to both Linda McMahon and John Cena about going and visiting for the troops.  Neil says that John is a very neat and friendly guy behind the scenes, or at least that is what he heard. He also said that there is a buzz around the pro wrestling industry that he is the savior to the company. Really the interview was very flawed and didn't offer much in the way of good publicity for the WWE unless you are someone who never watches.

Macon Gravlee sent this. ... I haven't seen an update on Smackdown being shown in Birmingham, AL. I just heard from the engineer at WABM 68, which just changed over to MyNetworkTV. Smackdown will be shown for the next two weeks on Sunday night @ 7pm on My68 before it switches over to CW WTTO 21.
