WWE ANNOUNCES WRESTLEMANIA 23 TICKET ON SALE DATE
by Mike Johnson

World Wrestling Entertainment announced that tickets for the April 2007 Wrestlemania 23 event will go on sale 11/11 priced at $30, $45, $75, $100, $250, and $750. In keeping with the look and theme of the 20 year anniversary of Wrestlemania III, WWE announced, "giant, state-of-the-art video screens at Ford Field will make every seat a virtual ringside location, no matter where you are sitting."

For those who have asked, there are no confirmed details yet for next year's Hall of Fame ceremony.

WWE NEWS ON JOEY STYLES, RAW RATING, ECW REPLAYS AND MORE

The 9/2 edition of AM Raw did a 1.1 cable rating, with a 4.8 share.

To follow up on an item from yesterday, the word I am getting was that the lap dance that Joey Styles got was not a rib, but rather an extension of the character that Ariel did down in OVW, where she also "danced", with Beth Phoenix, around/on the announcers.  The word going around at TV was that Styles had no problem doing the spot and was a pro about it.

The word around WWE is that the ECW replays on Sci Fi, which are part of the new deal that the parties have done, are scheduled to start airing very soon.  We should have the exact date in the next few days.

Yesterday's Columbus Dispatch has a story today about how when Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel voted Texas, their opponent this Saturday, the number one team in the country, State offensive tackle Kirk Barton said, "It doesn't bother me. Like Ric Flair said, 'If you want to be the man, you've got to beat the man.' "  I like the reverse psychology that Tressel is using on his team.

THE LATEST WWE WRESTLER IN THE DOGHOUSE, THE WWE STOCK, ROCK, CENA AND MORE

The word going around is that Sylvan is in the doghouse.  He was pretty animated at the Gorilla position a few weeks ago lobbying for his push and was seen doing so by a lot of people.  So now, he is getting de-pushed as a result of that.

The Globe And Mail up in Canada has a story about how WWE stock is a good buy right now.  To read it, click here.

The Rock is doing all kinds of promotion for his new movie "The Gridiron Gang".  He is making the rounds right now.

The US Marines website has a story up about John Cena doing a meet and greet with the troops.  To read it, click here.

VINCE MCMAHON'S DVD A BIG HIT, JIM ROSS TALKS, RATINGS NEWS, WHERE ARE THEY NOW, VINCE'S APOLOGY AND MORE

I appreciate that Vince McMahon sent out an apology today for the tasteless Steve Irwin comment that Matt Striker made on Tuesday's episode of ECW, though it would have been nice if they had never said it to begin with.  But since the remark was made on TV, the apology should be made there too.  That's my two cents on the subject.

Jim Ross' latest WWE.com column is up.  You can read it by clicking here.  Ross also added a photo gallery, with some classic pictures, to his new website, www.jrsbarbq.com.

Medialife has their weekly look at the cable numbers for the period ending on 9/3.  To check them out, click here. ... Thanks to Mike Informer for sending that along.

The Baltimore Sun has a story today about former WWF star Nikolai Volkoff's run for a seat on the House of Delegates.  To read it, click here.

MS sent this one. ... Rock has an interview and celebrity picks up on NBC sports website. Not surprisingly, there's no mention of wrestling at all. Here's the link.
