Spotlight Match: JGeorge vs Pedro Dones
Dones overpowers JGeorge early but runs right into a scissor kick on the ropes. Dones eats some taunting offense, it’s clear at least a few of these people appreciate JGeorge’s custom brand of cinema. Dones with the comeback and a running headbutt gives US the win! At some point, JGeorge needs to address his seeming permanent spot in the Spotlight Match as either a place to aspire to elevate from or a spot he is actively defending. There is a story here.
Match 1: Bobby Orlando vs Jariel Rivera (w/ Smart Mark Sterling)
Orlando has a date set for a clash with champion Bryce Donovan at Americanrana…but first, he has a moral obligation to tear through every member of Bryce’s crew. Sterling says tonight’s main event is canceled and the Fancy Bears will NOT be fighting Bryce and Vinny tonight. Bobby gets overpowered by Rivera early but Jariel is kind of a glass cannon. Orlando starts rolling and Rivera can’t hang until Sterling interferes on his behalf, saving him from a potentially match ending Sick Trick Cutter. Rivera works towards a cool torture rack spinout bomb but it’s not enough. Orlando with a back stabber sets up the comeback. A Bobby Bomb and a Dab elbow drop put a cap on the win!
Mark Sterling slides right in to attack Orlando! Jariel joins in but Bear Bronson runs down to chase them off! Bear comes out to confirm that Vinny Scalise isn’t here. Open officials confirmed to him that Bryce IS here and if he doesn’t compete tonight, he gets stripped of the title. But who should Bryce team with, if Scalise isn’t here? Bear Bronson proposes MARK STERLING as the partner!!! It’s on!
Match 2: Davienne vs Shannon Lavangie
Shannon’s grand return to Wrestling Open is marred by Davienne bullying her early in the match. Maybe Davienne is trying to remind her of how cool it was to be a troublemaker? She definitely is treating her like she wants to stuff LaVangie in a locker. Shannon finally hits a high cross body! LaVamgie with a series of rollups! Davi catches her into a powerbomb and when that fails, she sits deep into a Boston crab to get the tap out!
Match 3: Channing Thomas vs Nick Battee
“TAKE HIM TO SCHOOL, CHANNING” yells someone in the crowd. Maybe they’ve underestimated the growth Nick has shown in the last few months? He takes a beating from Thomas at ringside but hits the ropes, sending Channing tumbling to the floor, and starts laying in shots on World Class. The crowd starts to get split between these two?!? Nick misses a high knee and Channing levels him with a dropkick. Flying European uppercut! The tornado ddt connects for two! Nick avoids the ddt and guts Channing on the top rope! The fight spills to the floor and they’ve clearly lost track of the ref…it’s a double count out! They fight to the back but this SHOULD get run back.
We get a flashback video of BRG’s new alliance with Oxx Adams. This is a hell of a pairing.
Match 4: Brett Ryan Gosselin (w/ Oxx Adams) vs Love Doug (w/ TJ Crawford)
BRG wants to replace love with hate. He immediately rebukes Doug. NO SMOOCHES! NO PROM POSE! Just face smashing into the buckles. Doug with face full of petals and manages to get a proposal in but again, BRG is not here for love or fun or joy. Doug finally hits the slice of love, Oxx gets involved and blatantly chops Doug. BRG gets DQ’d but with the gloves off, they easily destroy Doug and TJ and leave them laying.
Match 5: Miracle Generation (Dustin Waller & Kylon King) vs Corey Duke & All Go Nelli
Duke and Nelli return after appearance in the Worcester discovery gauntlet. The MG? The are really embracing their new attitude of not wanting anyone to like them. The former IWTV tag champ take their time but finally drop Duke off the apron and put Nelli down with a tandem knee strike.
Match 6: Ricky Smokes (w/ Brad Baylor) vs Anthony Vecchio (w/ Aaron Ortiz)
The Shooter Boys continue to show the reigning Open tag champs why they are the top contenders for that title. After a strong start, Smokes guts Vecchio on the top rope. Anthony outlasts the beatdown, hits a jawbreaker and almost gets to put Ricky away….but Brad attacks Ortiz at ringside. Vecchio abandons the fight to gets Brad out of there and that gives Smokes the time he needs to recover, hit a slingshot spear and an elbow drop to the back of the head for the win. Awesomely contested match until Smokes snaked it.
Ortiz is furious. They are sick of this bull crap! Such strong words! He reminds Swipe Right that they have the contract for the title rematch. And they wanna do it at Americanrana!
Main Event: Fancy Bears (Fancy Ryan Clancy & Bear Bronson) vs Bryce Donovan 1& Smart Mark Sterling (No Time Limit)
It’s not even 830 and we’re going to the main event?!? We’re taking this no time limit stipulation seriously! The crowd is very “NOT MY CHAMP!” at Bryce. It’s under his skin enough that he starts the match against Clancy?!? The fancy man just swarms Bryce but gets quickly kicked on the rope break. Sterling tags in to keep the momentum but he sucks and Fancy gets to Bear and Bronson just starts torturing Smart Mark. Fancy gets in on this too and the crowd is pretty into this. Bryce? Less so. He tries to help but ends up letting Mark get dragged to his apparent doom. A quick blindside and he drags Sterling over for the tag and starts to grind down Bear. The bad guy team tactics start to kick in, it’s really the only thing they CAN do to slow Bronson down. Bear finally gets the tag and he chases Sterling but definitely missed a tag there and Bryce blindsides him. Fancy getting tossed around! Sterling and Bryce take their time with Clancy, stomping him down and keeping him just out of reach of a recovering Bronson. We get the tag but the ref misses it! The second time, Sterling cant hold Clancy back and the Bear is loose! Huge powerslam to Sterling but Bryce breaks up the pin! Choke bomb to Bryce! Kick out! Bear gets posted but Clancy tags in! He misses the dropkick! Bryce with a big boot! They go for a doomsday device but Clancy rams Bryce into Mark! Superplex! Bryce with a powerbomb but Bryce breaks up the pin! Sterling is taking people to suplex city?!? Jariel Rivera runs down from the back to take out Bear on the apron! Bryce hits a chokeslam! It’s ov—it’s not enough!!! Bryce runs interference while Sterling tries to blast Clancy with the belt….Bobby Orlando runs down and steals the belt! Bronson takes out Bryce while Clancy connects with the dropkick on Sterling for the three! Fantastic!
Bryce and Sterling are gone but left the Open title behind. Clancy and Bear have a moment with it…but Bobby is the challenger. Bobby offers his hand as the crowd begs Clancy to “let it go”. Ryan says he will NEVER forgive Orlando for costing him the Wrestling Open championship. If Bobby wins at Americanrana, you can bet he has a couple of very strong contenders waiting for him.
