We start off with a look back at the battle royal to determine the number one contender for the NXT Men's Championship.
No Quarter Catch Crew makes their way to the ring with Myles Borne.
Myles says last week, he shocked the damn world. Twenty-five of the toughest men across NXT, LFG, and Evolve and he was the last man standing so he is going to Battleground. He says he probably wasn't your first, second, or third pick, but he is used to this. He says they have been dancing around this for a while. Myles says he has a disability. He says he is partially deaf and it affects his speech and the way he talks. Myles says last week, when he eliminated Ethan Page and Shawn Spears, he says he heard you going crazy. He does not want to be known as 'the deaf kid'. He says he wants to be judged by his ability, not his disability. Myles says he is the underdog at Battleground and he is facing a dominant champion, but he is fighting for all of the people struggling. He wants to prove that you can be a success.
No one gave him a shot last week. At Battleground, they aren't giving him a shot, but he will shock the world. He might not be able to hear, but he will hear Mike Rome call him the new NXT World Champion.
Ethan Page comes out and he says that Myles might be worse than Ricky Saints. He is going to give Myles a reality check. He won a battle royal on a fluke. A one in a million chance thing come true. Ethan apologizes that there is no closed captioning so he will speak slow enough that Myles can read his lips. You cannot beat Oba. You are not on his level or Ethan's. If you want to prove you deserve this match, put the contendership on the line against him.
Charlie tells Myles this is the perfect learning opportunity. You put me in the match with Oba to get some advice about Oba. What better way than to go toe to toe with a former champion. This is the perfect fight camp. You get to silence all your doubters, especially your biggest one.
Myles tells Charlie he is right and Ethan is on.
Ava comes out.
She says she doesn't know if this is the right choice, but she sees how confident Myles is. She will allow the match and the title match is on the line. Right now, Charlie faces Oba.
Match Number One: Oba Femi versus Charlie Dempsey in a Non Title Match
Oba with a waist lock take down but Charlie with a wrist lock. Oba tries to slam Charlie but Charlie holds on and he applies a front face lock on the apron. Oba pushes Charlie off the apron. Charlie iwth a side head lock and he tries for a shoulder tackle but he bounces off Oba a few times. Charlie with a single leg take down into a knee bar. Oba gets to the ropes for a break. Oba with a shoulder tackle. Charlie goes for a LeBell Lock and Oba escapes. Charlie with a waist lock. Oba with shoulders to Charlie. Charlie with a forearm and European uppercut. Oba with a forearm and he gets Charlie up for a slam but Charlie with a sleeper. Oba backs Charlie into the corner and Oba with a snap mare. Oba with a hip toss. Oba goes for a suplex but Charlie blocks it and gets a near fall with an inside cradle. Oba with a forearm.
Charlie with a kick and European uppercut. Oba blocks a hip lock take down and Charlie with a head scissors take down with a double wrist lock. Oba rolls over and Charlie with a triangle. Oba goes for a one arm power bomb but Charlie counters into a sunset flip but Oba does not go down. Oba with a back body drop. Charlie kicks Oba in the corner and he chops Oba and works on the arm and sends Oba shoulder first into the ring post. Charlie goes to the apron and he drops the arm on the top rope. Charlie with a boot to the elbow on the mat. Oba with a back elbow to try to get out of a waist lock. Oba blocks a German suplex attempt. Charlie with a front face lock but Oba backs Charlie into the corner. Charlie with a knee lift for a near fall. Charlie with a double wrist lock. Oba with a slam and a double sledge. Charlie with a knee and a German suplex for a near fall. Charlie goes for the arm and he applies a short arm scissors on Oba. Oba rolls through to escape and he get a near fall and a one arm suplex. Charlie slaps Oba and Oba slaps back. Oba and Charlie exchange forearms and uppercuts until Oba takes the advantage.
Oba with an uppercut into the corner followed by a second one. Oba wtih a running back elbow. Oba tosses Charlie and hits Fall from Grace for the three count.
Winner: Oba Femi
Karmen and Thea are in the back talking earlier today and Tatum Paxley is throwing a fit. She sees the 'two new best friends'. You say you are a grown ass woman and you can't do anything alone. Tatum says she has nothing and she can't take this betrayal. Tatum says friends will leave you.
Ethan Page is in BACK and Ricky Saints shows up.
Ricky says Ethan is relentless. He says that Ethan is trying to rain on Myles' parade.
Ethan says he loves doing it and he will deal with Ricky after he wins the World Title. You can then go back to being second fiddle to him.
Ricky says 'good luck to that'.
Wes says tonight is the final nail in the coffin of the D'Angelo Family. He has learned about timing. They have been waiting long enough and it is time for the High Rise to ascend to the top.
Match Number Two: Tony D'Angelo versus Wes Lee (with Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe)
They lock up and Tony sends Wes to the mat. Wes with a side head lock. Wes holds on when Tony tries to send him off the ropes. Wes avoids a clothesline. Wes with kicks to Tony and an enzuigiri. Wes mises a knee in the corner and he goes for a springboard move but Tony catches Wes and he connects with punches. Tony with a flying forearm. Wes goes to the apron and Tony grabs Wes by the hair. Tony hip tosses Wes back into the ring. Tyson gets on the apron and Tony goes after him. Tony punches Wes. Tyriek tries to interfere and it fails. Tony wtih a kick to Wes. Tony hip tosses Wes onto Dupont and Igwe and they catch Wes. Tony with a cannonball onto everyone on the floor. Dupont and Igwe get on the apron to distract Tony and Wes with a double knee strike to the back. Wes sends Tony to the floor and Wes follows with a suicide dive.
Wes kicks Tony. Wes sends Tony back into the ring and Wes goes up top and hits a frog splash for a near fall. Wes with a front face lock and he connects with knees to the head. Tony with punches. Wes with kicks to the leg and a double stomp to the back. Tony rolls to the floor. The referee checks on Wes, who has an issue with his foot. Tyson and Tyriek get in some shots while the referee was not looking. Tony gets back into the ring and Wes with a double knee drop for a near fall. Wes with forearms and shoulders. Wes with a punch. Wes with another punch. Tony monologs and he mentions Lorenzo and that pisses off Tony. Tony with head butts and Wes falls to the floor. Tony goes to the floor and he sends Wes into Tyriek and Tyson. Tony with a double clothesline. He returns to the ring and Wes with a rollup and his feet on the ropes for a near fall. Tony with a super kick and Tony with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Tony with punches and clotheslines.
Tony with a belly-to-belly suplex and a reverse suplex. Tony with a power slam for a near fall. Tony Goes for a spinebuster but Wes counters with a rana and follows with a scorpion kick. Tony spears Wes when Wes goes for a Cardiac Kick.
Channing Lorenzo is on the ShawnTron and he says he knows where the Rizzo safe house is.
Wes with a Cardiac Kick for the three count.
Winner: Wes Lee
After the match, Channing says he is going to give Rizzo a visit.
Tony storms to the back.
Stephanie Vaquer walks in the back.
We go to commercial.
We are back with a look at Bronco Nima and Lucien Price. He says they are about family. Their return means sink or swim for the tag team division. They are going to put everyone under. He tells every team to listen carefully. When they get back in the ring, it will be the end of your game.
Stephanie says last week, Jordynne became the number one contender for her title. She says she has respect for Jordynne's journey. She was at the top of TNA and now she wants to ascend to the top of NXT. Stephanie speaks in Spanish and . . .
Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley make their way to the aisle.
Fallon says it must be nice to be on the top of the world. Everyone loves Stephanie. Fallon says you have been on top ever since you got here. You truly are one of a kind. That is exactly what will make your downfall sweeter. You were the double champion.
Jacy says both of you must feel what it is like to win that title, but she cannot relate. Jacy says Fallon was pinned by Stephanie.
Fallon says Stephanie pinned Guilia.
Fallon and Jacy talk about how this is their company and what if they took the title off your hands?
Jordynne Grace makes her way to the ring.
Jordynne tells Jacy and Fallon they can't get out of each other's way. How are you out here to talk about the women's title? She says she is not here to save the day, she is here to protect her investment and her opportunity.
Stephanie says she is not Jordynne's investment.
Jacy talks about ruining friendships and Fallon says that was the past.
Jacy says you have stamps on your passport. While you toured the globe, they held down the division. They deserve to be at the top. Jacy says they don't like newbies but Stephanie has taken advantage of her opportuntities.
Stephanie says she failed before and will fail again.
Jordynne says she has done a lot in a year. She will beat Stephanie at Battleground. She says she will take care of Fallon and Jacy if she needs to. She will make sure that Stephanie is at 100 percent.
Fallon and Jacy say the title will be theirs.
Myles asks Charlie if he is okay and Myles says Charlie is in no condition to be at ringside. He says no one will take the title from him.
