Shane Douglas & mystery partner vs. Doug Gilbert & Tommy Rich.
This is John Finegan's final match as a referee. Bob Artese gave him a big introduction. No one deserves it more. John is one of the all time best zebras.
Shane, in street clothes, cut a promo where he cursed a lot. He said he doesn't have a lot of friends and crapped on Ric Flair and Vince McMahon. He said since this is a tag match and "we" built this building, starting some ECW chants. He has no friends left, so he had to do something he didn't want to do and the biggest SOB will be out in a second. They attacked Shane and out came Pitbull Gary Wolfe. Yeah, THIS MAKES SENSE. Gary saved Shane and hugged him...NO SENSE. ,
Gilbert and Rich attacked them and they brawled around the ring. Shane hit Rich with a drink. They battled back into the ring. Shane pinned Tommy Rich with his feet on the ropes.
Your winners, Shane Douglas and Pitbully Gary Wolf.
It was five minutes. It was exactly what you'd think.
Gilbert did mic work challenging Shane to come back and have a Street Fight next month. THERE IS NO NEXT SHOW. What is happening? They argued with a ringside fan before leaving.
They held a raising of the banner ceremony for the late Larry Winters, Joel Goodhart, Johnny Hotbody and Tony Stetson. Bay "Chubby Dudley" Ragni came out. He said they've been working on the event and wrestling history in Philly for a year. It was all tribute and respect to everyone in the locker room as well as five people who paved the way for pro wrestling in Philadelphia but also hardcore wrestling in Philly. There's no ECW, Attitude Era, what AEW is doing now. He pointed out Joel Goodhart, Tony Stetson, DC Drake, Johnny Hotbody and the late Larry Winters, who was represented by his sons. Ragni got emotional as he spoke. Each honoree spoke, including Hotbody saying "F*** ECW" and praising TWA, which the crowd took as some sort of heel promo. It was a weird moment on a show of weird moments.
John Finegan was brought out to be recognized for his retirement match tonight.
The Rock N' Roll Express & Kerry Morton vs. The Backseat Boyz & Johnny Kashmere with guest referee Manny Fernandez
The Backseats played to the crowd, who were not impressed. The RNR did in response, so The Backseats went to the floor. They took the mic and said this was the house they built and people did not come here to see them face a subpar tag team. They did more mic work to incite the crowd to chant Rock and Roll, then hit the ring. The babyfaces worked them over and sent them into each other. The Backseats blocked but were soon eyepoked in triplicate. Kerry did the lion's share of the work, including a delayed vertical suplex. The Backseats cut him off and for a long time, Kerry was worked over in the ring. Manny Fernandez nailed one of the Backseats. Kerry Morton counted the pinfall. Sure, why not!
Your winners The Rock N' Roll Express and Kerry Morton!
Tessa Blanchard vs. a mystery opponent with special guest referee Heidi Lee Morgan.
Samantha Starr is injured. She introduced her replacement, Vicky Venuto.
They locked up and went back and forth. Lots of anti-Blanchard chants. The sames you hear on TNA, although it didn't last long. Venuto worked Tessa over in the corner, then hit a monkey flip. Blanchard took her down and worked Venuto over on the mat. Blanchard worked over her back and drilled her with kicks. Venuto came back with a back breaker variation, She exploded with some good offense, including a nice neckbreaker for a two count. Heidi Lee Morgan was doing slow counts so the crowd was crapping on her. Tessa missed a clothesline and was caught with a side slam. Blanchard nailed a c cutter for a two count. Blanchard nailed a DDT and scored the pin.
Your winner, Tessa Blanchard!
Some of the best action on the show.
TWA Championship: Breaker Morant vs. Chris Wylde in a South Philly Street Fight - Morant's final match.
Mike Kehner is our referee.
They brawled at the bell. Morant tossed Wylde over the top and hit a big flip dive to the floor. Wylde tripped him in the apron and chopped him on the floor. Wylde worked him over for some time. Morant went under the ring for some reason but was pulled out. Wylde took the mic and said he was going to break Morant's body. Wylde locked in a side chinlock as the crowd tried to rally the show, I mean, Morant. Wylde nailed a series of rights. Morant fought back but was hit with a fisherman's sup;ex and covered for a two count. Wylde pulled a door out from under the ring. Wylde nailed a German suplex on Morant. Morant went for a top rope rana but they sort of crashed down in a scary way. Wylde avoided a charge and speared Morant through the door. He covered him but Morant kicked out. He went to the floor and pulled out some chairs, tossing them in the ring. He and Morant pulled dueling doors out from under the ring. More chairs. A barbed wire bat. Rinse. Repeat. Morant nailed Wylde with the barbed wire bat and drilled him with right hands before digging it into his face. He set up several chairs and bridged a door across it. Wylde was now bleeding. The door fell over as Morant placed it. What a metaphor. Morant went to the ropes but Wylde attacked him. He set up for a superplex and nailed it through the doors and the chairs and the entire alphabet. The ring crew cleared the ring...now? Breaker hit a springboard elbow and a neckbreaker. Wylde nailed a CrossRhodes but Morant kicked up. Another door pulled out. More chairs. More more more. Why even clean the ring? He began asesembling the erector set. Door Bridge 2.0. Wylde went to the top. Morant caught up to him, a reversal of earlier. He nailed an inverted suplex through the mess. They cleared the mess. Wylde covered Morant, who kicked up. Morant nailed a Burnning Hammer for the pin.
Your winner and new champion Breaker Morant!
After the match, Breaker thanked everyone and left his boots in the ring, his career completed.
That's all from Philadelphia tonight, but boy do I have a lot of discuss about this show!
