WWE SMACKDOWN REPORT: MORE BLOOD FROM THE BLOODLINE, THREE QUALIFY FOR MITB, PUNK COMES HOME . . BUT WON'T SLEEP IN HIS BED, AND MORE

By Richard Trionfo on 2024-06-21 21:57:00

Your announcers are Wade Barrett and Corey Graves.

We begin with highlights from Clash at the Castle and a look at how CM Punk broke Drew McIntyre.

Raw's CM Punk makes his way to the ring.

Punk sits in the center of the ring.

Punk says it is great to be alive in Chicago on a Friday night.  He says live TV is pressure.  Every time he comes out and he is graced to be in the presence of all of you.  To speak or wrestle in your home town is pressure.  To vow to win a title in front of your people is pressure.  Punk says he still thinks right before you hear the static and Living Colour starts to play, he does not know if he can take the pressure.  Punk mentions July 17, 2011 when he promised himself and everyone that he would walk out of his home town the WWE Champion.  That is pressure.  He could have slipped on a banana peel, fell on his face and embarrassed himself for Chicago.  Did he embarrass Chicago?

He says he was told he would be jumped in Glasgow because if he interfered, they would have his head on a pike.  Punk asks if he ruined everyone's day?  Punk says for months, Drew kicked him while he was down.  Punk says he was kicking no only himself, but Chicago.  You can stay down, which wasn't an option.  You can get up and turn the other cheek, and that isn't an option.  He says he did it the Chicago way.  If you send someone to the hospital, he sends someone to the morgue.  He says he planned on burying Drew's career six feet under.  Punk says he didn't think it would be that easy.

Punk mentions that Drew quit because he couldn't take the pressure.  Drew says he prayed that bad things would happen to Punk and Punk says he preyed on Drew.  Drew has taken his ball and he has gone home.

Paul Heyman comes out and he introduces himself.  He says he is not out here to disrespect CM Punk.  He came out here because he is running late and he says it is hot as balls outside.  When CM Punk opens a show, it is hot as balls in Allstate Arena as well.  That man sat next to his children when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame despite being the wise man for the Tribal Chief.  He told the world that Punk was his best friend.  He meant it then and means it now.  Paul says he is here on an urgent situation.

Punk says he forgives Paul because he was able to hijack his promo and get the people to chant for Roman.

Paul and Punk hug.

Paul says he needed that.  He says he came out here because driving in, on the radio, they were listening to sports radio that Chicago is CM Punk's town.  Paul says that pissed off Solo because Solo, now that he is the head of the table, Solo wants every town to be his town.  Paul says he wanted to do a favor for Punk and he asks for a favor back.  You are going to get medically cleared and whoever steps up to him will know they are in the ring with the Best in the World.  He says if Punk doesn't leave, they are coming for him.  That won't do anyone any good.  Paul says there is extra security and that is for the Wyatts or anyone else who wants to cause trouble, not a bunch of rogue Samoans or Tongans.

Paul asks Punk to get the hell out of here.

Punk asks Paul if he is serious that Solo and the Tongans are going to jump him in Chicago, and Paul wants him to leave?

Solo Sikoa's music plays and he makes his way to the ring with Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa.

Solo tells Punk if he wants to be on Smackdown, on his show, in his city, you got two options.  One, you pay your respect to him and the Bloodline.  Two, we about to make sure your ass never gets cleared to wrestle again.  What do you want to do?

Punk asks Paul what was the favor he was going to get if he did what Paul wanted.

Paul says to have Punk take him with him.

Punk tells Solo he acknowledges . . . the fact that he doesn't see the Bloodline standing in front of him.  He sees a bunch of fake ass Usos and a phony tribal chief.

They get on the apron and Solo enters the ring, along with Tama and Tonga.

Cody Rhodes makes his way into the ring and he has a baseball bat and he gives one to Punk.

Cody tells Solo he fashions himself the head of the table and Cody says he already beat another one.  Cody says they settle this tonight.

Bianca Belair is in Gorilla and Jade shows up and she says she isn't here to distract Bianca but she is going to talk to Nick about their rematch.  Bianca says she will take care of business tonight, get into Money in the Bank and then they will get their titles back.

We are back and Cody Rhodes versus Solo Sikoa is official for tonight.

Cody walks in the back and Randy and Kevin stop him.

Randy says with everything going on, he asks if Cody wants to face Solo alone tonight.

Cody says Solo isn't ready and Randy has a qualifying match.

Kevin tells Cody he doesn't like it, but they have a plan.

Cody tells Kevin he is probably right, but Cody says he has a plan too.

Bayley is in BACK and Blair Davenport stops by to tell Bayley to tell Naomi she is looking forward to seeing her next week in the qualifying match and she is looking forward to winning Money in the Bank and cashing in on Bayley.

Solo tells Paul to make sure that he tells the Tongans to take care of Randy and Owens before he leaves.  Solo tells Paul if he tells him to do something, he better do it.  Solo tells Paul when he comes back, they need to have a talk.

We take a look back at Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa on the Grayson Waller Effect.

Kayla Braxton is with Grayson Waller and Kayla mentions that Austin Theory is not here.  Waller says he is going to win tonight and dedicate Money in the Bank to Austin.  Ciampa says that Waller sacrificed Theory.

We hear banging against the door to the truck entrance and we see Drew McIntyre standing over CM Punk and he carries him into the arena.

Drew mocks Punk and takes his bracelet.

Nick Aldis and officials come out and Nick yells at Drew for what he did.
