Match Number Five: WWE Men’s Championship Match: Cody Rhodes versus AJ Styles
They lock up and go to a stalemate. They lock up and they go around the ring and settle in the corner. Cody with a clean break. They lock up and Cody with a side head lock and take down. AJ with a head scissors and Cody escapes. AJ goes for the leg but Cody escapes. They lock up and AJ with a side head lock and take down. Cody with a head scissors and AJ escapes. Cody with a side head lock take down and AJ with a head scissors. Cody goes for the legs but AJ gets to his feet. AJ backs Cody into the corner and AJ with a clean break. AJ pushes Cody and Cody slaps AJ. AJ with a knee to the midsection but Cody with a chop. AJ with a chop. They alternate going into the corner and getting chopped. AJ with a kick and side head lock. Cody with a Dashing drop kick and a cartwheel followed by the Stardust pose.
They go for a test of strength and AJ with a kick and chops. AJ with a Phenomenal drop kick. Cody with a back body drop. Cody gets a near fall. Cody with a front face lock and elbow to the arm. Cody sets for a delayed vertical gourdbuster. AJ runs Cody into the corner and then he sends Cody shoulder first into the turnbuckles. AJ with a divorce court. AJ with an arm wringer. AJ with a hammer lock. Cody with forearms and AJ with a knee to the midsection. AJ with kicks to the arm. Cody blocks a kick and AJ with a rollup for a near fall. Cody with a drop down uppercut. AJ with an enzuigiri. AJ charges at Cody and Cody sends AJ throat first into the middle rope and AJ goes to the floor. Cody goes for a dive to the floor but AJ with a forearm to stop him.
AJ sends Cody into the announce table. AJ sends Cody into the announce table again and then he cleans off the French Announce table. Cody sends AJ into the ring steps. Cody with a forearm and then AJ and Cody exchange forearms. Cody goes to the turnbuckles and he tries to get AJ onto the turnbuckles from the apron. Cody gets AJ up and he sets for a superplex. Cody dead lifts AJ and AJ escapes and pulls Cody to the mat. Cody holds his lower back and AJ with a waist lock. AJ gets Cody on his shoulders and hits an electric chair drop. AJ goes for a quebrada but Cody gets his knees up. Cody blocks punches and punches AJ many times.
Cody with a running forearm and he floats over and hits a power slam on AJ. Cody with Beautiful Disaster for a near fall. Cody with a forearm to AJ and AJ gets Cody on his shoulders when Cody goes for a springboard move. Cody with a victory roll for a near fall. AJ with an ushigoroshi for a near fall. AJ misses a splash into the corner and Cody with a bulldog. They both go to the apron. Cody sets for a suplex onto the apron but AJ counters and hits a brainbuster on the apron. Both men are down on the floor. AJ breaks the count and then he is caught by Cody off the apron and Cody power bombs AJ through the announce table.
Both men get back to their feet and nine and get back into the ring at the same time. Both men go for clotheslines. They exchange forearms. Both men with round kicks and both men go down. Both men get into the opposite corner and they get up and Cody with punches. AJ with punches and Cody with punches to the midsection. AJ with punches. Cody with jabs and he sets for the Bionic Elbow and hits it for a near fall. Cody sets for a Cody Cutter but AJ with a waist lock ito a tombstone but Cody reverses. AJ with a kick and a suplex into the turnbuckles. AJ with a kick and he goes to the apron. AJ sets for a springboard 450 and hits it. AJ gets a near fall. AJ gets Cody up and hits a Burning Hammer for a near fall.
Cody wants AJ to give him more and AJ doesn't know what to do. AJ with punches and kicks. Cody blocks a kick and hits a Cody Cutter for a near fall. Cody with a clothesline and he poses to set up CrossRhodes but AJ escapes. AJ with a Pele kick and Cody falls into the corner. Cody sends AJ to the apron and AJ with a forearm. AJ sets for the Phenomenal Forearm but Cody with a super kick. Cody with a kimura on AJ and he adds a body scissors. AJ gets to his feet and he hits a spinebuster to escape. AJ goes for a Styles Clash but Cody with kicks. Cody sets for CrossRhodes but AJ escapes and kicks Cody. Cody escapes a Styles Clash and gets a near fall with a rollup. Cody with a Cody Cutter off the top turnbuckle. Cody signals that it is over and he hits CrossRhodes for the three count.
Winner: Cody Rhodes (retains championship)
