Adam Pearce is in the ring because it is time to sign a contract for the Intercontinental Title Match between Tommaso Ciampa and Gunther.
Out first is the challenger, Tommaso Ciampa.
Out next is the champion, Gunther.
Adam explains how the contract signing works.
Ciampa signs the contract first.
Ciampa says what he is setting out to do with Gunther is beyond his own imagination. The morning he wakes up to face you for the title, the air will taste better. You have been given opportunity after opportunity and you are fed five star meals. We are fed roadkill and have to turn it into filet. Next week, when his music hits, and he comes through the curtain for his chance to win the title he has dreamed about since he was five, his family will be there to watch. He says he will be fighting for that five year old boy who has been waiting for this his entire life. He says he will be the new Intercontinental Champion.
Gunther says this an official contract signing for the most important championship in the sport today and you choose to show up like this? It tells him everything he needs to know about Ciampa. You talk about your family and fighting for the right things and standing up for yourself. Those are fine motives. He fights for what is near and dear to him. He says this title is what means the most to him. Gunther says he is the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time.
Ciampa says that Gunther seems so confident when his entire world is about to crumble, sign the contract.
Gunther tells Ciampa he is to never ever interrupt him again.
Once he is done with Ciampa, you can hug your family real tight and keep dreaming because this is the closest you will get to this championship.
Ciampa says he is standing here and you are standing here, we can change a few words around because you haven't signed the contract. There are thousands of people in San Jose who want to see him make history. We don't have to wait until next week or Fastlane. I want to tap you out tonight.
Gunther tells Mr. Pearce that he thinks Ciampa should prove it as he signs the contract.
Adam says the match happens tonight.
Gunther swings at Ciampa and Ciampa comes off the table and he punches CIampa. Gunther pushes CIampa onto the table. CIampa throws a chair at Gunther and he applies the Sicilian Stretch. Gunther escapes and goes to the floor.
Priest says he can't beat anyone up tonight but they have to put their titles on the line on Saturday. Priest tells JD not to talk to him.
Rhea says they don't want Kevin, Sami, Jey, or Cody on the same page. Kevin already doesn't like Jey. She says this is the wedge that can help them. JD talks about divide and conquer.
Match Number Three: Xavier Woods (with Kofi Kingston) versus Ivar
Woods with a drop kick as the bell rings followed by forearms. Woods with a punch and kicks. Ivar with an Irish whip and Woods floats over but Ivar with a seated splash in the corner. Ivar with an exploder and he sets for a bronco buster and hits it for a near fall. Ivar wtih a forearm to the side of the head. Ivar sends Woods into the corner but Woods with a kick. Ivar avoids Honor Roll and Woods gets to his feet on a suplex attempt. Woods cannot get Ivar on his shoudlers. Woods with a thrust kick and a clothesline that sends Ivar over the top rope to the floor. Woods goes for a drop kick through the ropes but Ivar moves. Ivar sends Woods into the apron and Ivar misses a cross body and hits the apron. Woods with a drop kick off the apron.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Ivar sets for a power bomb but Woods escapes and he kicks Ivar. Woods with a thrust kick and a front kick followed by a rolling elbow. Woods tries to get Ivar on his shoulders and he hits a Death Valley Driver for a near fall. Ivar with a back breaker and a slam. Ivar goes to the turnbuckles for a moonsault but Woods stops Ivar and connects wtih forearms to the back. Woods sets for a power bomb but he collapses under Ivar's weight in the corner. Ivar goes up top and misses a frog splash. Woods with a La Magistral for a near fall. Ivar with a kick and a power bomb attempt but Woods escapes and gets the three count wtih an inside cradle.
Winner: Xavier Woods
After the match, Ivar attacks Woods and Kofi goes after Ivar. Ivar with a spin kick of doom to Kofi and then to Woods. Ivar with a power bomb of Kofi onto Woods. Ivar goes up top for a moonsault and he hits it on both men.
We have a video package for Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura.
Seth Rollins walks in the back as we go to commercial.
Michael Cole is in the ring to bring out Seth Rollins.
Seth welcomes everyone to Raw.
Cole mentions that he has called a lot of Seth's matches and has come up with some of his nicknames. Cole says it seems like Seth is the puppet this time.
Seth is offended and he points out they go back a long way. He asks Cole what show is he watching. He says he has been asking Nakamura for a rematch for weeks and Nakamura finally gave it to him.
Cole wants to know what Seth is doing. Cole says Seth is a first ballot hall of famer. He asks Seth if he knows what he is getting into with a Last Man Standing Match. Cole brings up Seth's back. Cole wants to know why is Seth putting himself through this.
Seth says he will be honest with Cole. He says he doesn't know how to put it into words but he asks Cole how many years has he been sitting at that commentary desk. Cole says 26 years. He asks Cole how many shows has he missed and Cole says 2. He says it is a compulsion for Cole and he needs it. Seth says that is what it is like for him. When they sing his song, he needs that. He has an honor and a responsibility and a duty. This ring has given him everything. It put a roof over his head, it put food on his table, it is how he met his wife, and it is how he has a beautiful baby girl. All of that gets amplified when you are champion. You have to be the change and if this is his last ride and he cannot do it anymore, it matters that he left it all in the ring. Then he will have fulfilled his responsibility and he will be an honorable man and an example for his daughter.
It is not words, it is a feeling. Seth says it feels right.
Nakamura appears on the TitanTron. He says no one believes Seth any more. He asks if he planned this perfectly or did Seth? Did Seth lie about his back injury to make everyone feel sorry for him.
Nakamura hits Seth from behind and hits Kinshasa to the back of the head.
TitanTron Nakamura starts to count as Seth struggles to get back to his feet. Nakamura hits Seth with a chair to the ribs and then to the back. Nakamura hits Seth again in the back. Nakamura hits Seth many more times in the back and then he sits down in front of Seth while Tronamura counts.
Nakamura kicks Seth in the back again and connects with a knee. Nakamura with a back breaker onto the chair. Nakamura with Kinshasa.
The real Nakamura counts like it is New Japan and he reaches ten.
Tegan is in the back preparing for her match and Becky Lynch shows up. Becky says she would have loved to put this title on the line but she is not cleared. Becky says when she is cleared, she better be ready for a fight.
Becky turns around into Natalya.
Natalya says she feels horrible for Tegan losing this title match. Natalya says they got off on the wrong foot. She says she has a different level of respect after last week. Natalya says Tegan will get her shot at Becky and she will take advantage of it.
Match Number Four: Chelsea Green (wtih Piper Niven) versus Tegan Nox
Green with a kick and she wants a high five from Piper. Green gets a near fall. Tegan with a back elbow for a near fall. Tegan misses a boot and Green with a kick but Nox avoids the Unprettiher. Tegan super kicks Green to the floor. Green is slapped by Nox and Green falls into Piper. Nox sends Green into the ring and Natalya's music plays. Nox with a Shiniest Wizard for the three count.
Winner: Tegan Nox
Drew McIntyre makes his way to the ring.
