Stadium Stampede is next. The fans were SWARMING around the Blackpool Combat Club when they came out. Mike Santana is MASSIVELY pumped up. They had a ton of pyro from the top of the stadium for Orang Cassidy. Everyone brawled. Lots of chaos. Kingston and Claudio brawled all the way to the top of the stadium. Moxley got skewers in the head and I know this will shock everyone, but therw was a little blood. Moxley and Cassidy faced off. Cassidy did hit his taunts so Moxley mauled him with a fork and hit a brainbuster through a chair. Moxley then raked barbed wire across the face of Trent Beretta. They showed Chuck Taylor eating a suplex from Yuta on a guard rail backstage. Kingston mauled Yuta's mouth with an umbrella in the Royal Box. Everyone brawled, everywhere, all at once. If you love chaos theory in your grappling, you will love this. Cassidy was busted open. Mama Sue Beretta showed up in a van. There were weapons in them, so the Blackpool Combat Club got walloped.
Penta had been taken out and returned, in new gear, as Penta Oscura, the most evil version. He went to do a spot off a ladder but it broke under them. They pivoted and he nailed a sunset flip powerbomb off the ladder through two tables. Cassidy and friends rebounded and beat down the BCC. Kingston superplexed Ortiz through tables. Someone crashed onto a box of legos. Claudio did the big swing. Cassidy came back with the Orange Punch and almost pinned Claudio. Cassidy broke a glass in a bucklet and used duct tape to attach the glass to his fist but before he could use it, Moxley killed him. Cassidy came back with a DDT. Kingston hit the ring with a barbed wire wrapped board. He speared Moxley through a barbed wire board. Cassidy nailed the glass-infused orange punch for the pin.
You are either going to love or hate this, but I respect what all these guys put themselves through.
The AEW Women's Championship match is next. Saraya came out to Queen's We Will Rock You, flanked by the entire Knight family. That was pretty damn cool. You have to think she's winning the title.
Shida got lots of stadium pyro. The Outcasts worked over Britt but then argued over which of them will get the pinfall. Shida controlled them both and was rudely slammed across the corner of the apron outside by Saraya. Saraya's mom held Britt for Storm to nail but was hit by accident. She tried to hop the rail and Saraya turned on Storm, attacking her. Storm got control and teased hurting her neck. Ruby Soho hit the ring to stop it but was drilled. Baker and Shida returned. Britt superkicked Storm, who crashed atop of Saraya, who kicked out. Saraya locked Storm in a Pendulum with Britt stomping the SH** OUT OF HER. Storm kicked out. Shida and Britt battled. In the end, Saraya blinded Storm and pinned her, celebrating with her family. They teased Saraya vs. Mercedes Mone on commentary. Man, there is some history there.
Next up is the Coffin match. Sting came out to Metallica's Seek and Destroy, which he used in WCW. He used a cricket bat on the heels. Nana ate a Stinger Splash. He's a long way from the Johnny Rodz School, where he started as a photographer. Sting and Darby used thumbtack jackets to beat down their opdouble ponents. Darby was handcuffed but still hit a flip dive over the top to the floor. Swerve and Christian took him out and worked over Darby. Sting hit a splash onto a tabl on Swerve but it didnt break. Sting then hit a legdrop through the table and that time it broke! They tried to put Cage in the coffin but he held his hands out to prevent it from closing. Luchasaurus made the save and attacked Sting and Allin. This was all brawling chaos. Nick Wayne hit the scene and hit Lucha with a skateboard. He was dropped and then chokeslammed on the skateboard. Ouch. He carried Wayne away.
Sting tossed Swerve and Cage into the coffin. Who would have thought this guy would be the closest into performing like a Terry Funk the last few years. Allin did a Coffin Drop but Swerve moved and he crashed atop of the coffin. It looked brutal. Sting fought off the villains and locked Cage in the Scorpion Deathlock. Swerve nailed Sting with a chair but he no sold it. Cage and Swerve took him out with some bat shots. Swerve nailed a double stomp off the top on Sting. The coffin was brought into the ring, Cage mauled Allin on the floor. Swerve placed Sting in the coffin but Sting used his bat to prevent it from closing.
The crowd chanted for Sting. Swerve nailed him and placed him atop the coffin. Swerve missed a 450 splash atop of it. Sting drilled him with the Sting Death Drop on the coffin. Sting placed him in the coffin but Swerve put his hands out to stop it. That's GONNA HURT. Darby drilled the top of the coffin, took Swerve out and they locked the casket. Hell of a spectacle here!
Chris Jericho sang himself to the ring and did a few Freddy Mercury sing-backs with the crowd, playing off of the famous Queen concern there at Live Aid. Jericho vs. Ospreay is next. Jericho has his working boots on and is working this like he's on a New Japan show, at least to the best he can. Ospreay's entrance and poise was very much a coming of age moment for him since he's in the UK and this is the biggest crowd there he's ever worked before. Lots of really good action early on. Jericho survived the OzCutter. Lots of near falls. Despite being the heel in the story, Ospreay is straight up babyface here. Ospreay drilled him with the Hidden Blade and then a Stormbreaker and scored the clean pin. The right booking decision here if they want to set up rematches in NJPW and AEW. Ospreay losing here would have killed the crowd. You could see there were times Jericho, although he tried, couldn't keep up with Ospreay, but at that age, I don't know many who could. This was solid and the moment here meant something in the UK.
