COMPLETE AEW REVOLUTION BLOG

on’t care for three and four way matches, but thas one was OK because we only had a few times where someone was laying in the corner waiting for their turn.  It was also fairly short and ended with the most dangerous move in all of wrestling, the surprise roll up. Ruby joining the outsiders (or Outsiders?) wasn’t so much of a shock.  Will this lead to a women’s Blood and Guts match?

Jon Moxley vs. "Hangman" Adam Page Texas Death Match

Page comes out to “Ghost Riders In The Sky” and the lights are red for the entrance.

Page attacks Mox during his entrance and they brawl through the crowd and around the ring. We've got barbed wire boards at ringside. Once they hit the ring, it’s a chop fest. Then forearms. Mox hits a clothesline and Mox goes to the outside for barbed wire. Page takes it from Mox and we have our first blood as Page rakes the barbed wire across Mox’s head.

Page wraps the barbed wire around his boot and starts stomping Mox. Mox is able to reverse it and after beating Page down grabs barbed wire brass knuckles. Mox then pulls out a fork. Page has been the one to be down for their ten count twice.  Mox jams the fork repeatedly into Page’s head when he has him in a leg scissors.

I am mentally out of this match. A few years ago, when I started on this site, I got a bunch of death match shows to cover for mania weekend. I’d not seen them before and after a few, I didn’t ever need to see any again. There’s no storytelling here, just a setup for the next blood spot, like Mox setting up a barbed wire wrapped chair for Page to be tossed into. Mox puts Page in a submission hold on the chair and then nails him on the back with  it.

More chairs are set up and the crowd chants they want tables. He sets up chairs back to back and tiers them together with barbed wire. Page then power bombs Mox on the chairs. Page then wraps himself in barbed wire and comes off the top with a moonsault onto Mox on the floor.

Page then sets up a barbed wire board outside the ring. Mox brings in a pair of bricks and puts Page’s hand between them and stomps on it. Mox brings in a chain and pile drives Page onto it.

Mox then hogties Page with the chain and locks on a cross face. Page bites his way free. Mox then sets up a barbed wire board between a pair of chairs. Mox goes back to the barbed wire chair and he and Page fight around it.  Page hits a clothesline. The crowd says it’s awesome, but I do not agree.

Page hits a fallaway slam into the barbed wire chair and then hits Deadeye onto the chair. Page dives onto Mox, knocking him onto one of the barbed wire boards. They fight on the top and Mox rakes Page’s back with barbed wire. Page then rakes Mox’s head with it and Mox is able to toss Page into the barbed wire board outside the ring. Page is up at 9.

Mox hits a lariat and ref counts. Page is up and it’s a slam fight again. Page hits his own clothesline and goes for buckshot, but Mox avoids it and hits a death rider and follows it up with a brick to the head. Page is up at 9. Mox locks in a rear naked choke. Page escapes and gets to his feet. Mox reattaches and Page is down.

Page is up at 9 and both men have the chain. Page nails Mox with the chain and then sets up bricks. Page gets a rear naked choke and wraps the chain around Mox’s neck. Mox hits a low blow. Page nails Mox with a brick. Page sets up for the buckshot. He hits a second clothesline and Mox is being hanged on the top rope with the chain and Mox taps out.

Winner: Adam Page.

A disgusting spot fest that went on too long.  I’ll bet the vampires loved it.

Samoa Joe (c) vs. Wardlow

This is just gonna be a hoss fight.

It quickly moves to the outside and Joe is in complete control. Wardlow breaks out the bit where he climbed the ropes into a moonsault, which is always impressive. Wardlow then gets ina series of power moves. Wardlow hasn’t been on TV much lately, so it’s a good idea for him to show who he is and what he can do. Joe is able to cut him off and goes back to working on Wardlow’s leg so he can’t hit the Power Bomb.

Joe even locks on a heel hook, and Wardlow gets to the rope for the break. Joe’s facial expressions are great in this part of the match. Wardlow gets an F5 and a senton from the top. Joe follows this by a rear naked choke and brings him down to the mat with it. Wardlow finally makes it to the ropes for a break and Joe is highly disappointed. Joe gets a Fireman’s carry into a slam for two.

Both men go to the top and Wardlow is able to carry Joe out of the corner for a power bomb.  Joe cuts wardlow off with a clothesline and mocks the Power Bomb Symphony. Wardlow then locks on his own rear naked choke and Joe goes out.

Winner and NEW AEW TNT Champion: Wardlow

Glad they followed up a bloody match with a big ol’ hoss fight, and Wardlow needs to get pushed to the moon at this point.

The Gunns (Austin Gunn and Colten Gunn) (c) vs. The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster) (with Billy Gunn) vs. Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett (with Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh) vs. Orange Cassidy and Danhausen

The Gunns are out first, which is weird. Satnam comes to the ring in traditional Indian garb with Jarrett and Lethal. The Gunns, Lethal and Jarret are huddling before the match. The Acclaimed get the biggest pop of the group, which is a feat with Orange Cassidy and Danhausen coming out.

Jarrett and Cassidy start off and Jarrett tells Cassidy not to do pickets, but Jarrett does the strut. Cassidy nails Jarrett and mocks his strut. Cassidy backdrops everyone, hands in his pockets, and then Danhausen is tagged in. Danhausen actually gets in some moves before the Gunns take over. Cassiday takes out the Gunns, who sell like Shawn Michaels in 1995. We then get The Acclaimed in the match with Jarrett and Lethal.

And Sonjay has to take Scissor Me Timbers. The Gunns then rush the ring and the crowd is ALL over the Gunns, calling them Ass Boys. The Gunns are tagged in after Lethal works over Caster. As Bowens is kept in a stalling vertical suplex, The other heels take out the babyfaces to show how they are all working together.

Caster gets the hot tag to clean house. Cassidy and Danhausen are down for a long time after they were attacked and the Gunns attack Lethal and Jarrett. This brings in Satnam Singh to clothesline them out. This then gives up Danhausen and Stanam again. This time it leads to Sonjay getting hsi pencil brokes, and Cassidy, Danhasuen and Bill Gunn taking out Satnam.

Next up are the Gunns and The Acclaimed who have a serious part of the match. Jarrett brings in the guitar, but Caster takes it from him. He wants to hit Jarrett with it, but the ref takes it from him, allowing Lethal to hit Caster with the Golden Globe. Jarrett and the ref get into it. The Gunns hit the 3:10 to Yuma on Danhausen for the pin and the win.

Winners and still AEW Tag Team Champions: The Gunns

A nice mix of action and shenanigans. It’s not a classic by any means, but a solidly entertaining match where everyone got a chance to show their stuff.

Renee interviews the Gunns and they say they want respect….and they are the best tag team in the world.

Then we get the music for the best tag team in the world:  FTR, who are back. They march to the ring and things break down immediately and they hit the spIke piledriver on one Gunn and the Big Rig on the other. Looks like Dax got busted open hardway and they hold up the belts.
