Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley got into a brawl backstage with Toxic Attraction.
The Men's Iron Survivor is next.
It's Axiom vs. JD McDonagh to start us out. JD looks so much like Tim from 90 Day Fiance, it's insane. It's even funnier because Tim is a well known wrestling fan. McDonagh has really been working on his physique and his moves looked good early, especially a lariat. Axiom's work is beyond crisp and the early minutes were very good, solid work. Carmelo Hayes was thirs and looked good right off the bat until going for a springboard move and being superkicked in mid-air.
Hayes rebounded and took down Axiom, scoring the first point. Hayes and McDonagh battled until Axiom was released but neither scored a pinfall. We are back to three battling again. Grayson Waller was the fourth man in and picked the bones, scoring pinfalls on Axiom and McDonagh, so he's now winning after being in the bout for all of 15 seconds. He and Waller battled.
Axiom began beating the crap out of McDonagh inside the penalty box and put the sleeper on him, That was fun. McDonagh ate the door to the face too. Waller went to attacked the masked man but was superkicked by Carmelo. Everyone battled, Axiom scored his second pinfall, tying up with Waller. The final competitor, Joe Gacy, entered the bout. He began beating down everyone and forced Axion with a clutch to tap.
It's Axiom and Waller with 2 and everyone BUT McDonagh with 1. He's got zero.
Gacey take out Waller with a big lariat and scored a fall. Three-way tie with Axiom and Waller.
Axiom escaped the penalty box and hit a moonsault off the top onto everyone. That got a big "Holy sh**" chant.
Back in the ring, Axiom tied up Gacy and was going to force him to submit but Hayes nailed a Booker T level scissor kick to wipe them both out.
Everyone started going nuts with less than five minutes left, all trying to score a win as everyone BUT McDonagh all had 2 points. McDonagh went for his first pinfall but everyone jumped on him to break it up and the place chanted NXT for ruining his moment. They then all superkicked him in the face. it was like he was Robbie Dawber in OVW. If you don't know that reference, Google it!
Gacy locked Hayes in a submission but JD broke it up. Lots of stuff going on all over the place with 2 1/2 minutes left.
With one minute left, everyone was taking each other out. Hayes KILLED Axiom with a big Alabama Jam but Waller pulled him out of the ring, picked the bones and pinned Axiom with less than a minute left. The remainder of the bout saw Waller running and evading everyone as they tried to catch him as opposed to them trying to beat each other and tie him. That was a weird last 30 seconds.
Your winner, Grayson Waller!
I think of the two matches, the men's bout was just a little bit better and got the idea of the final minutes being a sprint over a little better. The experiment was a solid success but not a resounding THIS IS AMAZING deal. But, solid stuff.
Backstage, they teased Damon Kemp vs. Drew Gulak. Kemp will learn a TON working with Gulak, who's easily the most underrated and underutilized WWE talent on ANY roster right now.
Main event time! Bron Breakker vs. Apollo Crews for the NXT title.
I think the average WWE fan is going to have a hard time buying Apollo Crews as a challenger here, but that's due to the sins of the Vince regime, not Triple H and friends, so we'll see how this goes.
Lots of power back and forth spots with the story Crews can match Breakker's power in a way no else to date has.
They began hitting some big spots and slugged it out. I'll admit, this is going a hell of a lot better then I envisioned before the match. Lots of damn great near falls. They are working their asses off here, really taking it too each other. Anyone who sees this that previously saw Crews treated so poorly on the main roster is going to HAVE to sit up and take notice.
Bron looked awesome here and finally scored the pin with a big spear. He celebrated as they went off the air but NO, Grayson Waller attacked and left Bron laying. We know who our next challenger will be.
Overall a really damn good, solid show. They experimented and there was a lot of positives coming out of this.
Thanks for watching along with me all day today!
