MAIN EVENT TIME! WOMEN'S TITLE BOUT! AMBULANCE MATCH! NO, NOT LASH LEGEND! WEAPONS WILD TIME! IT'S CASKET TIME! ALBA FYRE LEADS THE EVIL DEAD! IT'S LADDER TIME!, IT'S CHUCKY TIME! MIKE'S ONGOING WWE NXT HALLOWEEN HAVOC 2022 BLOG

By Mike Johnson on 2022-10-22 20:01:00

We went to Andre Chase University, where Chase was ripping on some of the Halloween Havoc homework that was handed in.  Duke Hudson is a "transfer" student for ACU now.  Bodhi Hayward wasn't happy and didn't trust him.

Pretty Deadly blew off their concern about defending the tag titles on Tuesday.  Women’s Tag Team Champions Chance and Carter were in disbelief about how they were approaching things.

Next up is Roxanne Perez vs. Cora Jade in the Weapons Wild match.  Perez came out with a trash can and pulled out a skateboard, which used to be the Cora Jade trademark and what she smashed over Perez's back.  Jade brandished a kendo stick.  Lots of weapons around ringside.  Jade blinded Perez with a spray can and then swung her into the barricades over and over.   Jade tossed a number of chairs into the ring.  Perez was stuffed in a trash can.  Jade jumped on it and then dumped it and Rok-C to the floor.

Jade attacked her with a broom and then a bullrope.   Perez showed some nice fire with her comeback.  She worked over Jade with the kendo stick and nailed a top rope rana.  Jade went through the crowd with Perez following to get in place for a big spot off a balcony.  Perez was slammed in the balcony and Jade spied a table below.  She removed the safety railing for the balcony.  She teased tossing Perez off but Perez fired back with rights as Jade sold she almost was going over.  Perez hesitated and then I guess the idea was she was hitting a suplex off through the table below but it came off like they both jumped backwards through the table.   The building popped for it.  They made their way back.  Jade told Perez she was never her friend.  Perez backdropped her onto some chairs and told her she was always her best friend, then nailed a Code Red onto the chairs and scored the pin.

This was OK.  I'm super high on Perez in general but thought this was just OK.  It seemed to get lost in time when Jade was on offense at times and while they tried to build to some dramatic moments, some of it worked, some of it didn't.

Shotzi, dressed as Beetlejuice, came out in her tank.    She introduced Quincy , who came out dressed as a banana.   They had some really goofy dialogue and then Lash Legend came out, plunging us into doom.  Shotzi saved us by hitting Legend with a DDT.  This felt like an opening segment on Raw from the previous regime.

The Ambulance Match with Damon Kemp and Julius Creed is next.  They had a hell of a segment on the go home show.  This will be their biggest test to date as singles competitors.  Creed tossed pumpkins at Kemp in the ring and hit a missile dropkick to kick it off.  This was all built around brawling and trying to toss the other into an ambulance parked in the corner of the building.  Kemp smashed the door into Creed's body several times.  Creed fired back with big kicks and punches.    A portion of the steel steps were brought into the ring.  Kemp slammed Creed on them.

A stretcher, a fire extinguisher, and wheelchair were used as weapons.  They began flinging weapons at each other.  They brawled towards the ambulance.  Creed was slammed into an equipment case and charged into the ambulance.  Creed was tossed in but placed his hand in the door, sacrificing himself to stop the door from being closed.  Creed fired back.  There were a lot of spots where these guys just threw down with complete reckless abandon.   It was a damn physical brawl.  You have to respect how much they just gave of themselves here.

Back at ringside, Creed kept smashing the chair Kemp used on his brother over Kemp's back over and over.   Kemp was powerbombed onto a stretcher, which folded under the force.  He smashed Kemp one more time and carried him to the ambulance before shoving the door shut for the win.

This was a FIGHT, not a wrestling performance designed to look pretty.  At times, it felt pretty gnarly, but that just gave it a nice, different grit.  Easily the best performance from either to date in NXT.
