Welcome to my Extreme Rules blog. I am looking forward to this one. The booking leading up to it has been strong. I would rather have six matches I care about than 10 that I don’t.
The open with Paul Heyman and the little kid was different. I liked it. We have a sell out. Michael Cole and Corey Graves are at the desk.
We are opening with The Donnybrook. Corey said he doesn’t think the corner of Swanson and Ritner ever experienced one of these. You are quite wrong there Corey. As the Brutes were coming out, we go the Rabbit coming on screen and jumping on the X. The Brutes are faces. For sure. Let’s rock!
Plunder City early on. They have a pub at ringside. Of course they do. Well they had a bar. Plunder.
Butch got put the the barricade the hard way, slowly. Gunter is smoking Sheamus’ chest with chops and a back drop on the bar. Imperium has a 3 on 2 advantage with Sheamus down. Ridge hit a huge double backdrop on Kaiser and Vinci. Big pop. The fans are behind the Brutes. They took Ridge out and they circled Butch. He tried to attack but couldn’t. Imperium just wasted Butch and then posted. This is great.
Sheamus finally came to. Fans popped. Sheamus cleared the soldiers into the barricade and faced off with the General. Gunther called him in as the fans chanted for Sheamus. They are facing off! The fans LOVE Sheamus and are cheering for him. I love seeing it because the dude works his ass off every single time. Time for the shots across the chest. And Butch and Ridge are there to help. Sheamus puts Gunther down. He is waiting to hit the Brogue. BAM! Vinci saves the match! This is stiff as hell, in the best way. Gunther with a double dropkick on Butch and Ridge but Sheamus got the Cloverleaf. The fans want the tap. They didn’t get it because Kaiser used a stick on Sheamus. The Brutes broke up the fans. The fans are chanting it’s awesome and damn, it is!
Everyone is down. Gunther and Sheamus are up and pounding the snot out of each other. They go down. They get up and face off. Sheamus gets close to the pin again, only for it to be broken up. This is PLUNDERFUL!
Pete hit a moonsault off of the whiskey barrels. Yeah, that’s what I said.
Gunther has the shillelagh. It’s big. He pasted Sheamus in the head, TWO COUNT ONLY!
Sheamus and Gunther are marked up for sure. This is stiff.
The brutes held Gunther and Sheamus pounded him with the shillelagh. Then Butch and Ridge took out the other two as Sheamus did a Celtic Cross through the table at ringside. Damn! They have Vinci. BROGUE KICK! 1-2-3! The Brutes won. Hell, we all won. That was freakin’ awesome!
Miz is here. He is here to talk to HHH about Dexter Lumis when he lays eyes on Gritty, the Flyers mascot. He gave Miz a shirt. He disrespected him and stepped on it. Will we see Lumis in the costume later?
Liv Morgan defends against Ronda Rousey next.
Ronda is out first. Then the champ. Nice reaction or both ladies. Ronda is wearing Roddy Piper They Live gear. Liv got the bigger pop. Liv went to use the bat but Ronda took it away quickly. She tossed it out. She doesn’t need it. If Liv is the face, she shouldn’t need it either now. Ronda tied her up in the apron and slapped the taste out of her mouth. Ronda got the bat and when she came back she got shot with a fire extinguisher. It didn’t do much though because Ronda hit Piper’s Pit with the bat. Ronda swings a nice bat.
Liv tried to use the bat but not so much. Ronda did know how to use plunder pretty well though. Liv somehow threw Ronda into the apron. This is stiff for sure.
Liv brought a table to the corner but it didn’t work. Ronda has her in a nasty submission involving the ropes. Ronda is all the way back by the way. She’s in machine mode.
Liv got a chair and went to work on Ronda. She hit a Code Red with the chair for two. She is working with the table now as Ronda is down. Corey just said she is taking too much time setting it up and it seems that way. Ronda’s on the table in the ring. Live goes up. She hit the senton. 2 count only. Ronda caught her in an arm bar. Liv powered up and then drove Ronda on the table.
Ronda tried for another submission and got it. Her body moves in ways that don’t seem human. Liv is fading. Ring the bell. Ronda wins the Title Liv passed out. She didn’t give up. After the match Ronda stepped on her stomach.
Honestly, as great as Ronda looked here, it was the right call. I like Liv a lot and I am glad she got the chance with the Title but the reign started off so badly it was hard to turn it around. Here she got to look like a true fighter and now she can come chasing, showing her grit. When Liv came to, she smiled at Ronda. Solid match due to the effort that they both put out but there were issues due to the style differences and that led to some rough moments. And, it was presented as a fight so missing some stuff or having it not go smoothly is OK. Sure looks like Becky Lynch is waiting for the champ. It was best for Liv to lose here so she can focus on some things and then circle back down the road. I love her effort and her drive.
