The Mysterios vs. Judgement Day in a No DQ bout is fourth. Judgement Day really need something diabolical to kickstart them as stronger heels but the expectation here is this will be where Edge arrives to get revenge. That doesn't scream strong villainry and victory here. Even thought this was No DQ, they were doing a pretty standard tag match early on with Dominik getting beat on to build the heat.
Rey tagged in and used a chair for some offense, including sliding on it like a sled until he crashed out of the ring onto Finn Balor, who was down on the floor. Priest superkicked him and tried to manhandle Rey but Rey sent him into the ropes. Rey set up for the 619 but Balor caught him. The Judgment Day regained control when the lights went out and Edge returned with a Brood-esque entrance. We had reported earlier in the day in our Elite section that staging was set up and the word was it was likely it was set up for the Edge return. Edge, with a new red jacket, began spearing the hell out of everyone, allowing the Mysterios to nail a 619 on Rey and score the pin. The match was OK but if you were an Edge fan, you'll probably enjoy the return.
They aired a promo on Kevin Owens.
Pat McAfee vs. Happy Corbin is next. Richard Trionfo is THRILLED. They have a chorus mocking Corbin and then singing for McAfee. Pat nailed a superkick and looked strong early. Michael Cole was all over Corbin. Corey Graves said he liked Cole more when he couldn't have an opinion. Cole said things have changed, a lot has changed,. YEAH, NO KIDDING! Corbin regain control and worked over McAfee while playing to the crowd. Corbin was hit with a pescado on the floor and they battled on the floor. Pat was smashed on the announcers' desk. Michael Cole was cheering Pat on. Corbin ripped on McAfee's parents as he worked over Pat and even put his hands on Cole. McAfee came back with a big superplex for a near fall. Fun stuff. McAfee went to the top and almost slipped off but saved him and nailed a flip dive to the floor. That was scary! He deposited Corbin back into the ring. Corbin missed the End of Days and was knocked into Charles Robinson. Happy was punched in the groin. McAfee nailed him with a top rope sunset flip (Ronnie Garvin!) and pinned him. This was a lot of fun but McAfee could used an upgrade in his ring gear for sure.
Next up was a promo from Drew McIntyre who came off like he was speaking from the heart and just cutting an off the cuff promo, which came off so much better than him telling lame stories about Scotland history awhile back. He put over that he lives in Nashville, got the crowd to chant for a kid in the audience and said he was coming to kick ass at Clash at the Castle. It was the type of promo that anyone could get behind and buy.
This has been a good, fun show thus far. You can feel a difference in the work and the announcing.
Next up is the Undisputed Tag Team titles. Jeff Jarrett is the referee. The Usos worked over Dawkins early. Montez got the tag and showed some nice intense energy in his offensive maneuvers. Good action thus far. They battled back and forth. Montez argued with Jeff on his count at one point. They battled back and forth until the Usos got the win. Nice action from bell to bell.
As the announcers were talking, an angry Riddle hit the ring looking to fight even though he wasn't medically cleared to wrestle. WAIT, A WWE WRESTLER IS MAD???? This is a new regime! He called out Seth, who came out. They battled in the aisle and to the ring and in the end, Seth got the better of the fight before all the officials broke them apart. Hey, building heat for a rivalry? I like it.
