We are live! SummerSlam 2022, the first post Vince McMahon supershow/PPV/PLE. We are opening with Becky Lynch trying to beat Bianca Belair for her WWE Raw Women's Championship. As Mike reported earlier, we are opening HOT! Both women got big pops but Bianca's was bigger, in her home state. If Vince was still here, I would expect her to lose. Since he isn't, I expect the opposite.
The Stadium looks great and we can see sunshine. Good stuff for WWE. We are off and running.
Becks is in control early, wording on the champ's arm and shoulder.
Bianca went for the KOD on the floor and Becky countered. She dragged her back into the ring and took control again.
The story is Bianca is trying to fight back. She finally did when Becky went to the hair but the champ had a great counter.
We just got into nearfall time. Good stuff. They are both so good. This is really gritty, not a beautiful bit of cooperation, but more like a fight.
Becks did a cool spot where she pulled Bianca off the top by her braid and hitting uranage but two count only!
Finish was awesome and not overdone like some people like to do. Bianca hit two big spots, Spanish Fly and KOD, and Becks was done. Loved it. Great start for SummerSlam.
After the match Becky put out her hand for a shake. We all remember what happened last year. Bianca took the shake. They hugged and it was a great moment. Folks, we have a new booker and he is really good at what he does.
And then, one of HHH's kids came home. Out came Bayley. Bianca was kind of happy. Will she stay that way? Time will tell.
She said remember me, and then brought out Dakota Kai. Bayley said we just wanna talk. And that's not all, Io Shirai is out next. Happy me. HHH is back. Did I mention that? This shit is great. They all went to the ring to face off with the champ. The three came in. Bayley put the mouth on her with her peeps behind. Becky came in and stood by Bianca's side. The fans popped. The three backed off. Becks back as a babyface? Three new studs on the women's side. Great start to the show!
Time for The Miz vs. Logan Paul. Miz has his wife and Ciampa with him. Will Johnny Gargano and Candice LaRae even the odds?
Logan Paul is showing very well early, including a moonsault from the apron to the floor on Miz. Logan is looking good. I mean real good.
Byron Saxton and Corey Graves are on their best game so far. I like these two like this. Jimmy Smith still needs some work. It says a lot to me. Corey and Byron know what to do and are doing it. Jimmy needs to realize that it's a new day, yes it is.
Ciampa got on the apron to make his opinions known, and the ref tossed him. So he grabbed a chair and sat at ringside. That brought out AJ Styles. The beat is on.
Logan Paul hit the Phenomenal Forearm for a two. This dude can be good if he wants to do it.
He put Miz on the ringside table and did a Frog Splash. I am a Logan Paul fan. Shoot.
Paul took him back in for the pin and had it when Maryse got on the apron. She stopped it. Miz went to use the international object and Paul ducked. Miz stopped and Paul hit him with his own finisher to get the pin. Good stuff. Paul may not be over with the peeps yet but the dude should be. He worked his ass off. He is in Bad Bunny-esque in his work.
So far, so great!
