By Mike Johnson on 2021-01-09 22:46:00

Super X-Cup Tournament Final: Blake Christian vs. Ace Austin

No Madman Fulton at ringside.

They went back and forth with some nice mat wrestling and reversals early.  Austin used the playing card on Christian's hand.  Christian nailed a rana  but missed a dropkick.  Some really nice back and forth exchanges until Christian nailed a dropkick that sent Austin to the floor to regroup.

Austin returned to the ring and grabbed a side headlock.  Christian gained control but missed a moonsault to the floor.  Christian and Blake fought on the outside with Christian sent hard into the steel barricades.  Austin tried to send him into the steel ring steps but Christian blocked and kicked him hard.  Christian drilled him with a forearms.  He went to whip Aries into the ring stairs.  Austin reversed but Christian jumped over the steps, then rebounded with a flip off the stairs, taking down Austin.  Austin cut him off with a kick off the apron.

Back in the ring, they continued to battle back and forth with some nice action.  Christian went for a springboard move but was kicked in the face, crashing to the floor outside.  Austin nailed a dive to the floor.  He dispatched Christian back into the ring and measured up Christian for a big stomp.  Austin began grounding and pounding Christian with measured stomps, knee strikes and punches.  Austin grabbed him for a front guillotine choke Christian broke free.  Austin cut him off and stomped him hard in the corner.  He drilled Christian with a leaping kick but was caught with a snapmare into a dropkick to the back of the neck.

They went back and forth.  Christian nailed the standing frog splash and a standing shooting star press for near falls.

They battled to the top rope, where Christian nailed a sunset flip powerbomb for a close near fall.  He went back to the top but Austin rolled out of the way.  Christian nailed him and scored a CLOSE two count with a springboard 450 splash.    The battled continued.  Christian nailed a double stomp off the top and scored yet another two count.

Christian draped Austin on the top.  Christian went for the 450 splash but he missed and crashed and burned.  Austin nailed a leaping kick and scored the two count.  Austin came off with a flip kick for another two count and began working on the legs with kicks, trying to wear them down.  He tied up Christian in a single-leg crab to force the submission.  Christian fought to the ropes and finally made it.

They battled back and forth with kicks, fighting furiously.  Christian went for a handspring move but was kicked in the back while mid-execution.  Austin charged for a move but was caught and nailed with a standing Spanish Fly.

They recover to their feet and continue the battle.  Christian nailed a big flip dive to the floor, grabbed Austin and drilled him with an inverted DDT on the entrance ramp.   Christian brought Austin back to the ring and went for a twisting splash off the ropes but Austin move.

Austin went for the Fold but Christian countered it.  They went into a great series of moves and reversals with tons of near falls and pinning combinations.  Christian bridged out of a pinfall and drilled Austin with a forearm.  They fired back and forth.  This has been really damn good.

It broke down into fisticuffs.  They went back and forth until Austin scored with the Fold for the pin.

Your winner and the 2021 Super X Cup Champion, Ace Austin!

From an athletic, aerial standpoint, this was easily the most explosive bout of the broadcast and enjoyable.  A strong night for both, especially Ace Austin.

Madman Fulton came to the ring to celebrate.  Impact Wrestling Executive VP Scott D'Amore presented Austin with the trophy.

Fulton carries Austin out to the back on his shoulders.

They aired a video package on the I Quit match.

TNA Champion Moose vs. Willie Mack in an I Quit Match

They faced off and began slugging it out.  Moose nailed a big boot to the face but Willie nailed him with a Lou Thesz Press.  Moose went to the floor.  Mack nailed him and sent Moose into the barricades several times but Moose refused to quit.  He kicked Mack as Willie charged but was caught and slammed on the entrance ramp.  Moose refused to quit.

Mack sent him into the ring post.  He refused to quit.  He was shoved into the ring post again, but refused to quit, telling Willie, "Screw You."

Back in the ring, Mack battered Moose with a series of punches and was nailed with a splash in the corner.  Mack missed a second one and was caught with a running dropkick in the corner.  He was asked if he wanted to quit and snarked back, "Hell no."  Moose continued to torment him with his boot in the corner but refused to give up and quit the match over and over.

Moose snapped Mack's arm on the top rope and sent Mack hard into the railing on the floor.  Moose told the referee not to ask him because he wanted to keep hurting Mack.  He whipped Mack into the guard rail on the other side of ringside, sending him flying over the railing to the floor.  Mack writhed in pain on the floor, screaming.  Moose stalked him and tossed Mack over the guard rail again, sending him back into the ringside area.  Moose barked at the referee not to ask.  With Mack's head trapped under the guard rail, Moose stomped away at him and grabbed a table from under the ring.

Moose tried to powerbomb Mack through the table but Mack slipped out and fired away with big right hands.  He cracked a chair over Moose's back over and over again.  Moose refused to quit and acted like he was backing off, then gave Mack the double middle fingers.  Mack wedged a chair between the buckles and sent Moose into it shoulder first.  Mack ascended to the top and came off with the Six Star Frog Splash.  Mack followed up with repeated splashes.  He continued beating Moose, who was too spent to even respond to the referee's query as to whether he was quitting.

Mack beat Moose, drilling the top of a chair into his chest.  He choked Moose with the chair, but the TNA Champion still refused to quit.  Mack placed the chair over his chest and returned to the top rope.  Moose popped up and nailed Mack, who crotched himself on the top rope.   Moose, on the apron, and Mack, on the top rope, began battling.  Mack began gaining momentum but Moose raked his eyes and tossed him off with a Go To Hell, sending Mack through the table. The table exploded and Moose also crashed down in an awkward way.

Both were out as referee Brandon Tolle checked over them.  Mack was bleeding from the elbow from crashing through the table.  Moose and Mack slowly recovered and climbed back towards the ring.  They each sold that they were spent and out of it.

They pulled themselves towards each other once they returned to the ring.  Moose began laughing at Mack, the same way EC3 laughed at him.  They slapped at each other and fired back and forth with big punches while on their knees, using the other to balance themselves as they fought to their feet.  Moose nailed a discus forearm but Mack fired back with a big kick.  They went back and forth with stiff shots.  Moose was nailed with a big stunner.  Moose speared Mack and nailed a stiff uranage on Mack.  He nailed another.  Mack refused to quit.

Moose went to the top with a chair but Mack flung another chair at his face, stunning the champ.  Mack set up a pile of chairs in the ring and set up for a superplex, sending both competitors down into the sea of steel below.   Moose rolled to the outside, where Mack drilled him again with a steel chair.

Mack set up for another but Moose grabbed the TNA title and smashed him in the face.  Moose tossed Mack back into the ring and kept firing away with elbows over and over, drilling them into Mack's face.

Moose placed a chair around Mack's neck and sat down in another chair above Mack.  Moose said he's knocked out and can't quit, so Moose is going to end his career.  He set up to nail him but Rich Swann ran out and told him it was too far.  He asked Moose what he wanted.  Moose said Swann knows what he wants.  Swann said if he wants a title shot, he can have it.  He offered him an Impact Championship match.

Moose dropped the chair and said, "Thank you.  I quit."

Your winner, Willie Mack!

Moose walked off and Swann checked on Mack as they went off the air.

An excellent, hard-hitting brawl to close the show.  I can see some fans not liking the finish as it was basically an angle to set up something else, but the drama, selling and intensity here more than made up for that.

A good few hours of pro wrestling here that can watched now at www.ImpactPlus.TV.
