We begin with a look back at Payback when Roman Reigns won the Universal Title even though he did not sign the contract to be part of the match until after the match officially started.
We are in Orlando, Florida and your announcers are Michael Cole and Corey Graves.
Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring with Paul Heyman.
Paul says just when you thought I was out, HE pulled me back in. Paul says don't make fools of yourself and embarrass yourself by pointing your accusatory fingers at me for corrupting him when he corrupted me. I was tossed aside into the shark infested ocean of obscurity to be rescued, saved, and pulled onto the island of relevancy by this man. They did the same damn thing to him that they did to me. What happened to the thank yous and appreciation from all of the decisions made through life threatening illnesses when he overdelivered. When he needed a little time off, what did you do with his championship? The Fiend? A fiend is not born to be champion. A fiend does fiendish things. A monster? A monster is not born to be champion? A monster does monstrous things.
Roman's reign as your champion has always been defined by what WWE purports itself on. Family, responsibility, and legacy. The accountability for owning ones actions as champion. That is who that champion is.
On Raw, they have a triple threat match to see who will be challenger at Clash of Champions. We'll do a Fatal Four Way tonight. The winner gets to be the sacrificial lamb at Clash of Champions. The name of the four contenders do not deserve to have their names mentioned. He will let their resumes be given by Anderson Cooper and Carmella's latest boyfriend.
Paul says his name is Paul Heyman and he serves as special counsel to the tribal chief. Your reigning, defending, undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Roman says he is a man of his word. He did what he said he would do at Payback. He signed the contract, he wrecked the Fiend and the Monster and then he left at Universal Champion. He does not care who he faces at Clash of Champions because it is his island. When you have this much power, all you have to do is show up and win. Believe That.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Jey Uso stops Roman Reigns and says he has been trying to get in touch with him. Jey asks Roman what is the deal with Paul. Roman says he has it all under control. Jey says he has Roman's back but Roman says he doesn't need it.
Match Number One: Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight versus Miz and John Morrison
Miz and Otis start things off and Miz with a waist lock and Otis with a standing switch and take down. Otis wit another waist lock take down. Miz with punches and chops. Otis with a shoulder tackle and Tucker tags in and they hit a double shoulder tackle for a near fall. MIz with a jaw breaker and Morrison tags in. Tucker with a single leg take down but Morrison tries to escape. Tucker with a hip toss. Tucker with a splash to the back and Otis tags in. Tucker with another splash and Otis with a clothesline.
Otis with an Irish whip and back body drop. Tucker gets Miz up and Otis gets Morrison up for Compactor and then Miz and Morrison are clotheslined to the floor as we go to commercial.
We are back and Morrison tags in and Tucker fights out of the corner but Morrison stops Tucker. Otis tags in and hits a double shoulder tackle and then Otis runs through Miz and Morrison. Otis sends Morrison face first into the mat but misses a splash into the corner. Morrison with a springboard round kick to Otis. Miz tags in and rakes at the face. Morrison tags in and he connects with a knee and Miz with a kick for a near fall. Morrison with punches followed by an uppercut. Miz misses a splash into the corner and Otis sends Morrison to the floor. Morrison pulls Tucker off the apron and hits a swinging neck breaker.
Miz with kicks but Otis jiggles up. Otis with an overhead belly-to-belly to Miz and an exploder to Morrison. Otis with a splash to Miz and it is time for the caterpillar. Otis with an elbow and Vader Bomb for the three count.
Winners: Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight
After the match, Morrison takes the briefcase, but leaves the lunch pail.
We go to the back and Big E says tonight is a big night. Xavier Woods is back to host Talking Smack and it is his birthday. Drew Gulak and Lucha House Party are with Big E. Big E says when he wins tonight, he cashes in his Golden Ticket against Roman Reigns.
Security stops by and Big E is told that Xavier has arrived.
Big E walks into the garage but it is a trap and Sheamus attacks Big E and hits a Gangs of New York Brogue Kick. Sheamus sends Big E face first into a car hood. Sheamus picks up Big E on the hood and Pat Buck and a referee wave their arms but that does not keep Sheamus from hitting White Noise into the windshield.
We go to commercial.
We are back and medical staff is checking on Big E.
Kayla Braxton says Big E has suffered major lacerations and other potentially serious injuries. She says Big E will be taken to a local medical facility.
Sheamus stops by and says he can't take his eyes off this. Kayla asks Sheamus if he did this because Big E beat him at Payback. Sheamus says he was defending himself. Sheamus says Big E might have thought his friend Xavier is here, but maybe he got some bad information. Sheamus says to reach that brass ring, you have to stay focused. Sheamus says it is sad. This could have been the biggest night of Big E's career, but he lets his old friends drag him back down again. You can't dwell on it and you have to move forward.
Sheamus walks away but comes back and he says it might be a Triple Threat Match.
Alyse Ashton are with Sasha Banks and Bayley in the backstage ring and she asks them about their rough week. They are asked about their tag title match. Bayley says they had no idea how to prepare for Shayna and Nia, but they have it all up here and they will win back their Tag Titles. Bayley is asked if she is concerned since Bayley has tapped out three times to Shayna.
Sasha interrupts and reminds Alyse who Bayley is and her accomplishments. That is why Bayley is the role model to millions and Sasha's best friend.
We are back and Adam Pearce is with Kayla Braxton. Adam says that Big E is not going to be able to compete tonight. Adam says the Fatal Four Way will happen and they are determining the fourth man. Paul Heyman stops by to talk to Adam in private.
Cesaro says Shayna and Nia are like two mack trucks while Sasha and Bayley are like to sports cars. Cesaro asks Nakamura about what happened to Big E. Cesaro says whoever wins this match will be welcome in the Champions' Lounge.
Match Number Two: Sasha Banks and Bayley versus Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the Women's Tag Team Championship
Nia wants to start and Bayley and Sasha attack Nia and Shayna. They are sent to the floor. Nia and Shayna block baseball slides and both are swung into the ringside barrier.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Shayna with an arm bar and Nia tags in. Nia with a splash and Shayna with a running knee into the corner. NIa gets a near fall. Nia gets Bayley up for a shoulder breaker and a near fall. Nia tosses Bayley into the corner and hits a running back splash into the corner and follows with a second one. Nia with a hard Irish whip. Nia gets a near fall. Nia backs Bayley into the corner and Shayna tags in. Shayna with a running knee into the corner. Shayna with a take down into a hammer lock. Shayna with a kick and she hyper-extends the shoulder. Shayna kicks Bayley and tags Nia back in. Nia sends Bayley's knee into the mat. Nia gets Bayley up but Sasha tries to get involved. Bayley escapes and clips Nia.
Sasha tags in and connects with forearms. Nia is sent into the turnbuckles but Nia send Sasha to the apron. Sasha with knees. Sasha with a slingshot double knee strike followed by a running double knee strike. Sasha with Meteora for a near fall. Nia gets Sasha on her shoulders but Sasha gets to the apron. Shayna tags in and Sasha with a knee. Nia goes to the apron when she misses Sasha. Bayley tags in and Sasha with a cutter and Sasha with a power bomb to the floor.
Sasha tags in and hits a sliding knee for a near fall. Sasha sends Shayna into the corner and Sasha with kicks. Bayley tags in and they kick Shayna. Shayna with a Kirifuda Clutch on Bayley but Sasha with a lungblower and she gets a near fall. Bayley tags in and Bayley goes up top for the elbow drop and hits it for a near fall. Sasha tags in and Sasha with a drop kick to the shoulder. Sasha misses a running double knee strike and hits the ring post when Shayna moves.
Sasha drops Shayna on the top rope. Shayna catches Sasha and sends her into the turnbuckles and clips Sasha. Shayna clips Sasha against the ropes. Sasha with an inside cradle to counter a step over toe hold. Shayna stomps on the leg. Shayna with a Mutah Lock on Sasha but Bayley with a belly-to-belly suplex to Shayna. Sasha gets a near fall. Sasha with the Banks Statement but Nia pulls Bayley off the apron and Nia kicks Sasha in the back.
Nia tags in and applies the Stretch Muffler but Sasha counters into a sunset flip for a near fall. Nia gets Sasha on her shoulders and goes to the turnbuckles. Bayley pulls Sasha off Nia's back. Sasha and Bayley send Shayna to the mat. Nia with a double cross body for the three count.
Winners: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (retain championship)
