WWE Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles makes his way to the ring and Joseph Park is with him.
AJ says there is a lot going on in the WWE right now and no one cares about the hooligans trying to break up the ring. Who will face AJ Styles for the Intercontinental Championship? It doesn't matter. AJ says that Daniel Bryan wanted him to be a fighting champion and he has beaten Drew Gulak, Matt Riddle, and Gran Metalik. AJ says he wants to enjoy being the Intercontinental Champion. He wants to get on his Twitch stream and enjoy the moment. So many people are throwing out statistics. Who will be your next opponent?
What do you know about statistics? Then it dawned on him. He says he is looking at batting averages in baseball. He is looking at statistics. AJ says he is a handsome stud of a nerd himself because he cares about statistics. AJ says he has hired a team. The Phenomenal Intercontinental Statistics System (PISS).
You will have to earn this on merit. AJ says it is time to see who is number one.
AJ says he is number one. AJ says let's take a look at who is on the board. Noboby. No one has earned the right to be in the ring with AJ Styles. The truth is that if you work hard, real hard, really really really hard, one day you can make it on this board to face AJ Styles.
Jeff Hardy makes his way to the ring.
Jeff says AJ has been phenomenal and he won that tournament but he never got that chance because of Sheamus. Jeff says that title is special to him because it was the first title he won on his own. He was standing on his own two feet then, just like he is now after conquering his demons. He knows what he has accomplished and AJ Styles versus Jeff Hardy sounds mega cool. Jeff asks AJ for a chance at that fresh new Intercontinental Championship.
AJ says statistics aside, he respects Jeff and always has. He has known Jeff for a long time and Jeff has always been good to him. He gets it. He says there are a lot of people who would love to see them in a WWE ring. You were part of the best tag team in WWE history. You deserve to be on that board. If you think I am going to face Jeff Hardy in this ring for the Intercontinental Championship . . .
HELL NO.
You haven't earned a chance to be on this board. This ain't a pity party.
Hardy punches Styles and then hits a Twist of Fate.
Jeff writes his name on the board and signs it.
Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura are in the back and Cesaro mentions Metalik and Nakamura. While they talk Lince and Metalik sneak up and take the tag titles.
We go to commercial.
AJ Styles is ambushed by Kayla Braxton and he is asked about Jeff Hardy's challenge.
AJ says that Jeff attacked him. He doesn't respect him or analytics. AJ says that when you do this to AJ Styles, you are erased. AJ can't get what Jeff wrote on the white board because it was in permanent marker.
Cesaro says The Lucha House Party are nothing but a couple of Spanish Flies, not the cool move. They are annoying little pests. Cesaro asks Nakamura what do they with annoying little pests. We get some sound effects and Nakamura says we squish them.
Match Number Three: Gran Metalik (with Lince Dorado) versus Shinsuke Nakamura (with Cesaro)
They lock up and Nakamura backs Metalik into the corner and chokes him. Nakamura with a snap mare and knee drop for a near fall. Metalik with a back heel kick and snap mare into a side head lock. Metalik with a head scissors to send Nakamura to the floor. Nakamura with a kick to stop Metalik on a dive. Nakamura with a kick. Nakmaura runs into a boot from Metalik and Metalik with a bulldog. Metalik with kicks followed by a springboard back elbow for a near fall. Metalik tries to get Nakamura on his shoulders but Nakamura escapes and goes for a reverse exploder but Metalik lands on his feet. Cesaro distracts Metalik and Nakamura with a kick for a near fall.
Nakamura sets for Kinshasa and Lucha House Party's music plays and Kalisto is back. Kalisto with a tornado DDT on the ramp. Metalik kicks Nakamura and hits a springboard elbow drop for the three count.
Winner: Gran Metalik
Alexa Bliss is in the back getting ready for her interview.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Kayla Braxton is with Matt Riddle.
Matt is asked about Baron Corbin and how is he so positive about the ransom on him.
Matt asks Kayla if he can call her bro and he says it is harsh to have a bounty on your head. Everyone is coming for him and it is cool. He came to Smackdown to throw down and bro down. He wants to compete. Baron Corbin calls himself a king but he is just a royal pain. He called Corbin out and he cost Corbin his match against Sheamus.
Shorty G shows up. He says he got all wrapped up in the ransom but he has a family to care for. He didn't want to injure Matt. He says he is here to apologize to Riddle. He throws out his fist and Riddle says it is all good. Riddle says if he wants to go, just vie him a heads up.
Baron attacks Riddle from behind and he tells Riddle that this is his kingdom. Corbin thanks Chad.
It is time to move on to Alexa Bliss.
She is asked how is she feeling and she says she has been better. She is asked about her history with Braun Strowman. Alexa says Braun can be intimidating when you first meet him but she saw the man behind the monster. He is a good man and he is funny. He is witty and protective. He is compassionate. They get along because they call each other on their crap. They became best friends.
Alexa is asked if it became more than a friendship and Alexa says maybe. They cared about each other.
Alexa is asks if their friendship is why the Fiend targeted her. She says she does not know and that is a question for the Fiend.
Alexa is asked what is it like to be in the Fiend's presence. She says it is scary, terrifying, and compelling. She says once you have interacted with him, you can feel his presence. Alexa says for the first time in her life, she understands the term moth to a flame.
Alexa is asked about what Braun said last week and how it made her feel. Alexa doesn't say anything and we go to commercial.
We are back and AJ Styles will face Jeff Hardy for the Intercontinental Championship on Smackdown.
Sonya Deville says she is a little surprised by the challenge. Who knew it would take a little haircut to get some aggression out of you. Sonya says you will look great bald. You may think you have gotten over your insecurities and have heard it your entire life. Maybe they say that because it is true. I will destroy you once and for all. Challenge accepted. See you soon baldy.
Match Number Four: Big E versus John Morrison
They lock up and Morrison with a kick to the leg. Big E with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Big E with a forearm. Morrison misses kicks and then applies a waist lock but Big E escapes with a hip lock take down. Morrison with a kick. Morrison goes for a springboard move and Big E knocks Morrison to the floor. Morrison with a kick from the apron but Big E with a clothesline and then he pulls Morrison over the apron and connects with forearms across the chest. Big E with a splash on the apron.
Miz gives Morrison some moral support and that distracts Big E and Morrison clips Big E. Morrison kicks and punches Big E and puts the leg on the middle rope and drops a knee on the leg.
Morrison with a reverse chin lock and Otis makes his way to the ring with his briefcase.
The lights flicker and Cole calls for security and we go to commercial.
We are back and it is a lumberjack match as wrestlers surround the ring. Morrison with a front face lock.
We see Retribution in the back attacking referees and destroying catering. Other random people are attacked and then they block the door to the bathroom. They spray paint the wall.
Back in the ring, Morrison with a Pele Kick and Morrison with a springboard round kick for a near fall.
Officials come out to tell the lumberjacks what happened in the back and the match continues.
Morrison avoids a Big Ending and Morrison sends Big E into the corner. Morrison escapes a uranagE and hits a kick o the knee.
The roster shows up and surveys the damage and frees the rest room. Some of the wrestlers are confused by the WWE signal.
Big E pushes Morrison off the turnbuckles and Big E with a uranagE for a near fall. Big E with a rollup for a near fall and then he applies a Stretch Muffler and Morrison taps out.
Winner: Big E
After the match, Sheamus with a Brogue Kick to Big E.
Braun Strowman's music plays and he makes his way to the ring
We go to commercial.
We are back and Braun is in the ring.
He says you never see it coming at SummerSlam. You know what you are going to get when it comes to me. I said when I came out of that swamp, I would be the most evil son of a bitch you ever laid your eyes on. Braun wants the Fiend to come out and he will rip him limb from limb and eviscerate him. You will look at me with your last breath as I consume your entrails.
Alexa Bliss' music plays and she makes her way to the ring.
Braun wont' look at Alexa. Alexa says she owes it to them and their friendship to have a conversation. Braun wants to know what they need to talk about. Alexa says this isn't the Braun she knows. She did not believe what you said. Braun says Alexa used him as a pawn and tried to change him into something he is not. He says he does not give a damn about Alexa.
Alexa wants to know what is going on. He says everyone who comes into contact with the Fiend changes, including you. Braun tells Alexa to get out of the ring because he wants The Fiend.
Alexa tells Braun to be careful what he wishes for. Alexa says if she can't talk some sense into him, she will slap some sense into him and then she tells him to look at her.
Alexa slaps Braun many times.
Braun picks up Alexa and presses her over her head.
The lights go out, but Fiend Style, not Retirbution Style.
Braun prepares to throw Alexa to the floor but he stops. Then he tosses Alexa as the lights go out and when the lights go on we get the Fiend whistle and Alexa is down on the mat.
Braun appears on the TitanTron and laughs.
We go to credits.
