ANTHEM WRESTLING PRESIDENT ED NORDHOLM DISCUSSES IMPACT WRESTLING'S AXS TV DEBUT, THE FUTURE OF IMPACT ON TV, PRODUCTION DEPARTURES, KILLER KROSS SITUATION, MMA ON AXS TV AND MUCH MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-10-01 10:20:00

JOHNSON: OK, so how did/does this effect the week to week of putting together the Impact TV shows?

NORDHOLM: It doesn’t. As I said, we were organizing ourselves for Kevin’s departure, and simply accelerated that plan.

David Sahadi has now accepted a position as Creative Director for Anthem Wrestling. David is a creative force who helped re-shape the business back in the Attitude Era.

Eric Tompkins, who was with the company between 2008 and 2015 and returned with Kevin in 2017, has been promoted to Director of Television Production.

I am also happy to announce that we have been able to bring back Jay Seeman, the head of audio production for TNA/Impact between 2004 and 2016, Stu Marchetti, a senior video editor with that was with TNA/Impact between 2007 and 2015, and Matt Caldwell, who is an outstanding graphics editor.  It is a great team that will bring fresh vitality to our show when we launch on AXS TV.

JOHNSON: Yes or no, was the company actually scrambling to get this week's show completed as has been floated around?

NORDHOLM: No. The weekly show has been produced and will be delivered to our broadcast partners in the usual course, and the three specials we are doing for AXS TV have been completed.

JOHNSON: Do you intend to put non-competes on employees to prevent this from happening again?

NORDHOLM: I won’t comment on the terms of our employment contracts. Again, I appreciate you taking the time to balance out the coverage on this incident.

JOHNSON: All right, so I have a couple of other questions. First, in regard to Anthem taking over AXS TV. We know that Impact programming will roll out but there is a concern amongst a set of fans that this is the beginning of the end of New Japan on AXS as they have become accustomed to it or even the end of the series, altogether. I know obviously you can only speak so much on the record about this, but is there anything you can say to fans to alleviate their concern that there's an end in sight for New Japan on AXS that Anthem has taken?

NORDHOLM:  Well, New Japan is wrestling. We enjoy it on AXS TV and look forward to continuing that relationship. I think I've said it a couple of times since we acquired [AXS], to anybody asking, between New Japan, Women of Wrestling, Impact….my view of the world that AXS TV will be the destination to watch wrestling. We've got a great lineup and look forward to working with New Japan and Women of Wrestling.
