NEW CHAMPIONS CROWNED, TESSA VS. GAIL AND MORE: COMPLETE IMPACT WRESTLING REBELLION PPV COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-04-28 20:15:00

Impact Wrestling Champion Johnny Impact vs. Brian Cage with guest referee Lance Storm

Cage came out dressed like the Terminator.

Taya and John E. Bravo are with Impact.

Impact was worked over from the onset with Cage scoring several two counts and looking impressive athletically.  They  battled to the rampway.  Cage went for a chokeslam on the stage.  Impact fought him off and nailed a Spanish Fly off the ramp to the floor, which was damn impressive.  It looked like Cage may have been hurt on the spot.

Storm refused to count out Cage and said they were going to settle it in the ring.   Impact worked over Cage for a long time and Cage returned to the ring bleeding from the forehead.  Impact cinched in a side chinlock, trying to wear him down.   Impact nailed several kicks and an enziguri, wearing down the challenger.  Cage barely kicked out of several pinfall attempts.  Impact beat him with a series of rights and elbows.  Taya and Bravo set up a table at ringside.  Cage and Impact battled until Cage made a comeback and powerbombed Impact through the table on the floor.  Bravo grabbed Cage's leg so he got dragged in and beaten.  Impact grabbed the belt but Lance Storm was tripped and pulled out of the ring by Taya.  Impact knocked Storm into the barricade.  Impact hit Cage with the title belt, then tossed it to Taya.  Cage grabbed Taya and powerbombed her.

Impact nailed him with the title belt and hit Starship Pain.  Bravo put on a referee's shirt and tried to make the count but it didn't count.  Storm returned and nailed a superkick on Bravo.

Lance was going to call for a DQ but  Cage asked him not to do so.  Cage destroyed Impact and scored the pin.

Your winner and new Impact Wrestling Champion,  Brian Cage!

This felt like a 1990s WWE main event with lots of run-ins and twists and turns.  The work was good until the Spanish Fly spot.  From there, Cage either did the best job of selling he's ever done in his career or was legitimately banged up.  He pushed through but you could see the difference in his work and he looked to be hurting.  I respect how hard he kept going.

Former ROH and New Japan star Michael Elgin hit the ring and got in Cage's face.  He told Cage he was coming for the title.  Elgin nailed him with a spinning backfist.  He grabbed Cage and nailed him with a spinning sit-out powerbomb.

They announced Slammiversary for Sunday 7/7 in Dallas.  That would be the day after the New Japan G1 Climax event.

Full Metal Mayhem: Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix vs. LAX with Konnan.

Everyone brawled at the bell.  LAX had the control early.  They were superkicked off the apron to the floor.  Fenix and Penta hit double tope con hilos in stereo, smashing LAX through tables that were bridged to the outside.

Pentagon Jr. smashed Santana with a drink in the face.  The Lucha Brothers double-teamed Ortiz in the ring for a two count.  Ortiz returned to the fray but was worked over as well.  They placed a trash can over his heads and nailed stereo superkicks.    Penta through a trash can down on Santana.

They placed a table in the corner of the ring.  Ortiz hit the ring with a cookie sheet to make the save, trashing the Champions.  Pentagon got control of it and fired away as well.   LAX came back with Santana nailing a cutter on Pentagon, then double teaming Fenix.  Pentagon dove into the ring to break up a pinfall attempt.

LAX regained control with several chairs.  They set up Fenix on the top rope and placed several chairs together underneath him.  They nailed a double stomp to the back of Fenix’s head, then drove him through the chairs.  Fenix somehow kicked out of this.

Ortiz suplexed Fenix onto several chairs.  Santana whipped Pentagon into the crowd.  A ladder was brought into the ring.  All four brawled.  They sat down at chairs across from each other and battled back and forth with punches.  Konnan gave LAX forks and they went to use them but the Lucha Brothers stopped them and flung chairs in their faces.     Fenix appeared to hurt his shoulder.

The battle continued with Fenix set up on the top with six chairs underneath him but Pentagon attacked them with a trash can lid and they hit Fear Factor on Santana through the chairs for a two count.

LAX regained control and set up the ladder in the center of the ring.  They set up a table on the rampway.  Santana climbed up the ladder but Fenix walked across the top and hit a Spanish Fly off the ladder through the table, which looked absolutely spectacular.  Fenix came down on the back of his head on the ramp, unfortunately.  UGH.

Pentagon hit the Driver through a table, rudely, on Santana for another two count.  This is just a violent series of insane moments that are scaring the hell out of me.

Pentagon set up another table in the ring.    They set up a second, then poured a ton of thumbtacks on the table.   Pentagon and Santana battled on the ladder above the tables.    Ortiz got underneath Pentagon.  Santana stabbed Pentagon with the fork.  Ortiz powerbombed him off the ladder through the table and scored the pin.

Your winners and new Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions, LAX!

This was all violence and insanity.

Konnan asked them all if they were going to squash this and let it go.  They all agreed.  All five had a big group hug.

The babyfaces from the Impact Wrestling locker room exited and hit the ring.  Former Knockouts Champion Taylor Wilde was there as well.   Everyone celebrated in the ring and congratulated LAX and the Lucha Brothers.
