Eli Everfly vs. Marko Stunt
Everfly worked over Stunt, who took all sorts of punishment. Stunt was placed in a chair on the floor but escaped a dive to the floor and Everfly wiped out. Stunt hit a tope to the floor. Stunt nailed a nice dropkick. Stunt went for a 450 splash but rolled through when Everfly rolled out of the way. Everfly missed a standing moonsault. They battled back and forth. Everfly nailed a springboard twisting DDT. Stunt was nailed with a sit-down Michinoku Driver. Everfly tied him up on the mat.
Stunt avoided a charge in the corner and drilled him with a shining wizard, but was too tired to take advantage. They each recovered and battled back and forth. Stunt was worked over and was nailed with a rolling boot to the face. Everfly slammed him into the ring with a rana off the top and drilled him with a piledriver for a close two count. Stunt rolled out to the floor. Everfly went to the floor and returned with someone carrying a door for him. The camera angles didn't make it clear what was going on. It appeared to build to a spot where Stunt hit a Canadian Destroyer off the stage through the door to the floor. Ridiculous.
They rang the bell and announced that "due to the uncontrollable nature of this contest", the referee has awarded the bout to Everfly. Something obviously went wrong here.
Marko Stunt got injured during the spot through the door. Someone at the building told me that it appears Stunt may have suffered a broken shin or ankle. Hopefully that is not the case, but certainly this wasn't the planned finish. They are asking fans to make a path so they can get Stunt out of the ringside area. They finally get him to the back. He's obviously going to a hospital tonight.
GCW Champion Nick Gage vs. David Arquette.
This match is completely ridiculous and I really appreciate the batsh** nuttiness of booking it. When Arquette was announced as the former WCW Champion, he apologized as he smiled at the crowd.
Gage did some great mic work to rile up the crowd, putting himself over. The crowd loved it and chanted "Nick F***ing Gage."Arquette was a bit wary, as you might imagine. Gage offered a punch then attacked Arquette and stomped the living hell out of him as Arquette tried to ball up and take it. Gage worked him over in the corner and brought him to the floor. Gage beat Arquette on the floor and nailed him with a soda can. Gage dragged him through the building. He finally brings Arquette back to the ring.
Gage misses a heabutt to the mat and is stunned. Arquette knocked him tol the floor. He climbed the ropes but slipped. You could see his knees shaking as he went back up. Arquette hit a dive off the top onto Gage. Seriously, who would have predicted this in 2018? Arquette went for a dive holding a chair but it didn't work out. He tried to do it again and nailed it. Gage got a beer bottle and smashed it over Arquette's head. Arquette was rolled back into the ring, A door was placed in corner. Gage speared Arquette painfully through it in the corner. Arqutte kept grabbed his ribs and back.Gage smashed a piece of the broken lumber down on Arquette. The crowd chanted "one more time." He demolished another piece over Arquette, then went to the backstage area. He returned with light tubes.
Gage brought them into the ring but Joey Ryan, in a sling, rolled into the ring and stepped in between Gage and Arquette. Gage nailed him but was caught with a superkick. Joey was going for the d*** flip and was setting up when The Messiah, from XPW fame, hit the ring, nailed Ryan and tossed him out of the ring. Arquette nailed a stunner but Gage survived that and drilled him across the back with a set of light tubes. I can guarantee you we'd have never seen Mr. T or Lawrence Taylor take light tubes!
Gage placed a group of light tubes bridged across several chairs. Gage grabbed him but Arquette fired back and bit Gage's face. He nailed a stunner through the light tubes. Arquette was bleeding from different cuts. Gage was placed in the corner. Arquette placed light tubes on him and hit a cannonball into the corner, smashing him with the light tubes. OK, seriously, that was insane. Gage is covered but kicked out at two. That spot cut up Arquette even more.
Gage made a comeback and began jabbing and ripping at Arquette's forehead with a pizza cutter He began carving his forehead then smashed him over the back of the head with it. Arquette's face was all bloody at this point. He looked like he had legitimately had enough and was freaked out by the blood it appeared. He took down Gage to the mat and they sort of stared at each other. He left the ring holding his neck, then returned to the ring. Gage nailed him and Arquette went down like he was waiting to get pinned. Gage tried to nailed him with light tubes again. Arquette snapped up threw a chair hard at Gage, then went to hit him, and looked upset. They grappled (and not in a way that looked like they were working together) and Gage snapped him over hard with a Judo Toss and scored the pin. Arquette got right up and walked out, holding his neck without selling. It looked like they had some sort of disagreement and went at it in the ring legit for a second but well, Gage ended that real quick.
Your winner and still GCW Champion, Nick Gage!
Gage took the mic and said, "Don't be in a death match if you don't want to take sh**!" He said that there are Death Match wrestlers who do this every week and bleed and love it. He thanked the fans and said he would do this forever for them.
This was insanely entertaining as a spectacle and it was amazing to see Arquette in this environment. It was like watching Randy the Ram vs. The Necro Butcher from the Wrestler for real. You have to give Arquette credit for this insanity. He really doesn't need to do any of this, but wants to and I can respect that passion. The fact he took this sort of booking and did this sort of match, with no real preparation is impressive, but really, he shouldn't be doing this stuff - and I think by the time he realized that, it was too late. Gage is insanely charismatic and plays his role so well. He has the type of legit street credibility that few wrestlers carry today and fans buy into him in a major way.
Overall, an extremely entertaining show with echoes of the 2000s-era CZW with some of the more chaotic action, a lot of hard work, some unique names used in supporting roles and more. This was gritty, fun independent fever dream pro wrestling.
