LIJ VS. KING & CABANA & LETHAL, CODY VS. LIGER , YOUNG BUCKS VS. THE SUPER SMASH BROTHERS & MUCH MORE: COMPLETE ROH WAR OF THE WORLDS: TORONTO COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2018-05-11 23:02:00

The Young Bucks vs. The Super Smash Brothers

Big pop for both teams.  It was your typical Young Bucks show early on, including Matt raking the back of Evil Uno.  Jackson was shoved through the ropes to the floor, smashing his back on the apron and was slammed into it after.  Jackson began selling the back in a major way.  The Smash Brothers beat Jackson with double team maneuvers, scoring several two counts.

They worked over Matt for a long time.  He would fight them off but be cut off before he could make the tag.  He finally superkicked Uno and charged around the ring but was cut off.  Matt finally speared Dos and executed the tag.

Nick Jackson hit the scene with all sorts of big, fast maneuvers.   He nailed the slingshot facebuster on one, then hit a moonsault over the top to the other.  He nailed a flying bodypress for a two count on Grayson.  The Bucks his stereo sunset flips into the ring, turning them into Sharpshooters.

The Bucks called for a Superkick Party.  The Brothers cut them off.  Dos was hiptossed over the buckles by his own partner, wiping out the Bucks.  Graydon accidentally nailed Uno with a high knee.  They went into an insane back and forth sequence I couldn’t even fathom, much less type up.   Grayson hit an insane 450 splash for a close close close two count.

The teams went back and forth with superkicks.  The Smash Brothers were caught up in each other’s legs and drilled with superkick after superkick.  The Bucks finally scored the win with the Meltzer Driver.

Your winners, The Young Bucks!

It was the Young Bucks show with all the insane spots and high flying that the fans today get off on, following Matt Jackson being worked over for a long time to build to the hot tag.  Entertaining.

The teams showed each other respect, but ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes attacked and laid out both teams.  Jay Briscoe took the mic and said they just wanted to remind everyone "who runs this sh**."  He said it wasn't the Young Bucks.  He told the fans wearing Bullet Club and Young Bucks shirts to burn in hell and that they "ain't sh**."  Jay told the Bucks to stick to selling t-shirts and leave the best tag team in the world thing to the Briscoes.  He said that no matter how cool they think they are, the Bucks will never be man enough to take the belts from The Briscoes.  This sounds like a setup for the 6/29 PPV in Baltimore.

The Briscoes are great, by the way.

They are now at intermission.  For fans watching online, they are playing a classic match from the 2014 Global Wars iPPV.  Here is our original coverage from that match....

Kazuchida Okada & Gedo vs. IWGP champion AJ Styles & IWGP Tag Team champion Karl Anderson

Okada and Styles started out. Okada backed him into the corner and broke clean. They had some great back and forth wrestling. Styles was placed on the top and dropkicked off the top to the floor. He was brought back in and Gedo tagged in., Anderson tagged in and worked over Gedo with forearms. Gedro drilled him with a kick. They slugged it out.

Anderson nailed a spinebuster. Styles and Anderson stomped the hell out of Gedo. Anderson peppered him with punches on the mat. The Bullet Club members cut the ring off on Gedo and beat him down. Gedo tried to fight out but was kicked down. He finally nailed a big right hand and attempted to make a tag but was kicked in the back of the head. Gedo finally nailed a high cross bodyblock and made the tag to Okada.

Okada cleaned house and nailed a slingshot splash into the ring on Anderson. Okada nailed Anderson and hit a flying elbow. He set up for the Rainmaker but Anderson ducked. Anderson nailed a nasty neckbreaker. Styles tagged in and nailed a springboard flying forearm. He attempted the Styles Clash but Okada slipped out. They fired back and forth with a flurry of strikes.

Gedo tagged in and backdropped Styles for a two count. All four battled in the ring. Styles nailed the Pele Kick. Anderson nailed a spinebuster. Styles nailed a brainbuster. Styles nailed the Styles Clash. Anderson held Okada as Styles scored the win.

Your winners, AJ Styles and Karl Anderson!

Back to live action!

WOH Champion Sumie Sakai joined Ian and BJ for the next match.

They noted Flip Gordon has had some flight issues but is in the air, so they hope he will make it to the show.  That is legit.

They also announced that Cheeseburger has been sent to a local medical facility.  That’s storyline playing off the Bully segment.

Tenille Dashwood & Jenny Rose vs. Alexia Nicole & Sandra Bell

Nicole and Rose went back and forth with counters.  Rose nailed a side slam for a two count.  Jenny and Dashwood nailed a double suplex for a two count.  Dashwood began working over her arm.  Rose tagged back in but was maneuvered into her opponents’ corner.

Nicole was tricked into spearing her own partner.  Dashwood tagged in and locked the Tarantula on Nicole.  Dashwood nailed splashes in the corner on Bell and Nicole.    Time seemed to stand still when Rose blind tagged herself back in as Bell was selling.  Rose nailed a big chokeslam for the pin.

Your winners, Tenille Dashwood & Jenny Rose!

Not a strong showing here.  Alexia showed some real promise at times.  Bell looked like she was very young in terms of experience.  Rose looked OK.  Dashwood was in another world compared to everyone else.  Sumie ddn't really add anything on commentary but Ian and BJ really tried to bring her into the conversation.

So Cal Uncensored vs. Roppongi 3.0 & Rocky Romero.

All strong back and forth action early on.   Daniels was on the defensive early on.  So Ca shut down Sho and they worked him over, tagging in and out.  Yo made the tag and took control.  He drilled Sky with a big European uppercut.    Roppongi and Romero hit a triple dive to the outside on everyone.  In the end, So Cal Uncensored scored the pin.

Your winners, So Cal Uncensored.

Sorry for the short PBP, but I needed to eat dinner!  It was some really good salmon, if you care.  You probably don't, but that's OK, too.

ROH TV Champion Silas Young vs. Adam Page

They brawled all over the ringside area.  It was a fun brawl.  They battled into the ring, exchanging strikes and chops.  Page scored with a lariat for a two count.  Young took off his vest to show he meant business, but was caught with a neckbreaker for a two count.  Young went for full nelson but Page ducked out and nailed big right.  Young fired back with one of his own.   They battled onto the outside of the apron, where Page shoved off the Champion and nailed a superkick.  Young fell to the floor.  They battled back and forth until Young nailed Misery for the pin.

Your winner and still TV Champion, Silas Young!

Good brawl.  This was your unbridled, gritty, rough and rumble fight of the evening.  They both looked good.

Cody vs. Jushin Liger.

Big reactions for each guy.  Good action early on with Rhodes backing off.  Rhodes locked in a figure four but Liger got to the ropes.  Cody climbed to the top but was cut off and caught with a superplex for a two count.  Liger scored several near falls but Bernard the Business Bear got on the apron.  Liger kicked him off.  Cody nailed Liger to the floor.  He brought him back into the ring but missed the Disaster Kick.  Liger nailed a snap powerbomb for a two count.

Cody shoved Liger into the referee and went to the outside to grab some chairs.  He set one in the center of the ring and put Liger in it, driving elbows to his head.  He grabbed another chairs but the referee pulled it from his hands.  As this was going on, Liger grabbed the chair he was sitting in and threw it at Cody's head for a two count.   Liger rained down with punches in the corner.  The referee admonished Liger, allowing Rhodes to grab him and snap him over with the CrossRhodes.

Your winner, Cody!

Entertaining match until the finish, which seemed to come out of nowhere.  Cody is in another zone as a character right now.   The right guy won here.  I always love watching Liger.  Fun stuff!

Colt Cabana & Jay Lethal & Kenny King vs. IWGP Tag Team Champions EVIL and SANADA & Hiromu Takahashi

BUSHI is working the corner and it's now a six man tag.  Poor Flip Gordon flying all the way there for nothing.   Lots of back and forth wrestling early on.  It was all good stuff.  Cabana did some funny comedy with Takahashi and his pet mascot Darryl Jr.

SANADA and EVIL double teamed Lethal, who kept kicking up.   Lethal was worked over for a long time but finally nailed the Lethal Combination.  Jay tried to make the hot tag and succeeded, getting the tag to Kenny King.  King nailed a spinebuster on SANADA for a nice two count.  SANADA nailed a moonsault, but King came back with a suplex attempt.  SANADA landed on his feet and manuevered King into a rana.  Takahashi tagged in but King avoided them and tagged Cabana, who nailed a moonsault into the ring for a two count.

Takahashi and Cabana went back and forth until Cabana was sent into the buckles.  EVIL tagged in and drilled Cabana down in the corner.  He nailed a charging attack in the corner.  SANADA and EVIL went for the Magic Killer, but Cabana fought them off.  EVIL clobbered Colt with a lariat for a two count.  They finally caught him with the Magic Killer but Kenny King broke up the pinfall.   They all went into a bunch of back and forth finishing sequences.   Lethal nailed a series of dives to the outside, hitting six in rapid succession.  The crowd in Toronto loved this.  They said the dives were for Cary Silkin watching at home.

Cabana locked the Billy Goat Curse on EVIL.  Lethal was taken out on the floor by SANADA.  King was attacked while waiting for a tag.  BUSHI misted Cabana, setting EVIL up to sweep him with a STO to score the pin.  Cabana's face was completely darkened by the mist.

Your winners, LIJ!

Fun six man tag bout.  ROH made the best of a bad situation here and did what they could by putting together a really good, athletic main event.
