COMPLETE SUMMERSLAM 2017 COVERAGE

By Stuart Carapola on 2017-08-20 22:55:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's live coverage of Summerslam 2017!

John Cena vs Baron Corbin

Cena outmaneuvers some wild swings from Corbin, goes to the floor to try JBL's cowboy hat on, then goes back inside to make faces at Corbin.  Crowd is split as you would expect.  Corbin wastes no time pounding Cena down to the mat and putting the boots to him.  He unloads on Cena with right hands and calls him a moron, Cena sidesteps a charge, but Corbin comes right back with a HUGE clothesline for 2.  Cena starts to fire back on Corbin, but gets planted right back into the mat with a sidewalk slam.  The fans chant "where's your briefcase?" at Corbin, which just fires Corbin up more, but Cena uses it to start his comeback and drive Corbin into the mat with a blue thunder bomb.  Corbin dodges the Five Knuckle Shuffle.  Cena ducks another wild shot, but Corbin comes right back with a chokeslam into a backbreaker for 2.  Sweet!  Cena fights Corbin off of a superplex attempt and hits a tornado DDT off the top.  Cena hits the Five Knuckle Shuffle on a second attempt and goes for the AA, Corbin slips out and hits Deep Six for 2.  Corbin is through screwing around, and he absolutely unloads on Cena in the corner, Cena ducks a wild swing, and this time he catches Corbin coming back and hits the AA for the win.

Winner: John Cena

Good opener, and Corbin lost, but I think Corbin looked great here and don't think the loss will hurt him.  Shorter than I would have thought, but they do have around 300 matches to get through tonight, so it's all good.

Smackdown Women's Title Match: Naomi vs Natalya

Nattie just unloads on Naomi to start off, but Naomi returns fire and hits a sliding slap to the face.  Interesting.  Nattie bails to the floor, so Naomi hits a blockbuster off the apron.  Nattie catches Naomi in the knee coming back in and catapults her into the ringpost to take control.  She asserts that "glow time is over" as she covers Naomi for 2.  Nattie with a suplex for 2 as we see Carmella and James Ellsworth watching from backstage.  Natalya continues the assault until Naomi slips out of a superplex attempt and yanks Nattie down onto the top rope.  Both ladies are down, but Naomi is up to start the fiery babyface comeback.  Nattie blocks a kick and drops her into a split, then nails her.  Nasty stuff.  Naomi comes back and hangs Nattie on the middle rope and clips her with a slingshot legdrop for 2.  Naomi reverses a back suplex into a sunset flip, then she goes for the crazy submission she uses, but Nattie blocks and turns it into the Sharpshooter.  Naomi fights for the ropes, but Nattie drags her out to the middle of the ring and cranks on it.  Naomi fights agin and rolls Nattie into the bottom turnbuckle.  Nattie gets her knees up on a split-legged moonsault attempt from Naomi, and back into the Sharpshooter.  Naomi is trapped...AND SHE TAPS!

Winner and NEW Smackdown Women's Champion: Natalya

Well, it's about damn time!  Very happy for Nattie, this is a long time coming for her and she definitely deserves it.

Big Show vs Big Cass

Enzo is hung in a shark cage over the ring as advertised, but obviously gets the chance to do an opening promo on his way to the ring and yells stuff down at Cass while the Big Show beats him up.  The pain in his injured hand continually causes Show to slow down, and very gingerly climbs to the second rope for the Vader Bomb, so slowly that Cass has plenty of time to roll out of the way.  Cass comes in with a Stinger Splash, but a second attempt causes Cass to run into Big Show's WMD.  The injury prevents Show from hitting it full on, so Cass is able to kick out at 2.  Cass quickly swoops in and hammers on Show's injured hand, cranking with a series of wristlocks, but Show fires back and hits a chokeslam...with his left hand.  Cass is able to kick out of that, and Cass rolls to the floor.  Show reaches for him, but Cass grabs Show's hand and smashes it into the post.  Enzo tries to slip between the bars, then takes his shorts off and pulls...a bottle of oil out of his underwear.  He pours the oil all over himself and slips a couple of globes on, and manages to slip through the bars!  He's still pretty high up, though.  He gingerly climbs down into the ring...and eats a boot from Big Cass.  Cass waits for Big Show to get up as well and drills him with a big boot when he gets to his feet.  That only gets 2, so Cass with a second big boot and the Empire Elbow for 3.

Winner: Big Cass

Guess Cass didn't need the cage to kick both their asses after all, huh?  Good story in this one, and Cass looked great here.

Kurt Angle is backstage on his cell phone when Daniel Bryan comes in to talk shop.  They ape each other's catchphrases in a surreal moment.
