BRISCOES VS. BULLET CLUB AND MORE: COMPLETE NJPW/ROH HONOR RISING 2017 NIGHT ONE COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-02-26 07:12:00

KUSHIDA & Juice Robinson & David Finlay vs. Silas Young & Gedo & Jado.

I unfortunately missed this, but caught the finish as team Finlay scored the fall.

NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team champions SANADA & EVIL & BUSHI vs. Delirious & Jushin Liger & Tiger Mask IV

Delirious was in a complete trance before the bell, leading to the announcers joking about Festus, but not by name.  BUSHI ended up choked by Tiger early.  SANADA used power to work over Mask.  Liger tossed him to the floor.  Tiger Mask nailed a Tiger Driver on BUSHI and tagged in Delirious, who charged all over before hitting a nice leaping clothesline for a two count.

Delirious whipped BUSHI hard into the corner but missed a charge, hitting the buckes instead.  SANADA tagged in and lifted and splashed Delirious, following up with a DDT for a two count.    Liger tagged in and drilled BUSHI with a palm strike.  Delirious began raking the back and front of BUSHI.  He went for a Cobra Clutch but EVIL drilled him with a clothesline.  EVIL nailed a back suplex but Liger and Tiger Mask broke up the pinfall.

EVIL went for an inverted DDT but was hit with a forward roll for a two count.  Delirious rolled hm over with a crucifix pinfall combination but SANADA kicked up at the last second.  Delirious was sent into the ropes and nailed with a chair.  SANADA locked in with a Cross and Bones submission and Delirious tapped.

Your winners and still NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team champions SANADA & EVIL & BUSHI!

Solid, entertaining match.

Kazuchika Okada & Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI & Will Ospreay vs. Bad Luck Fale & Yujiro Takahashi & Tama Tonga & Tanga Roa.

CHAOS vs. The Bullet Club here.

Bullet Club worked over Okada early.  Ospreay cleaned house but was grabbed by Fale by the throat, which ended those hopes.  Ospreay caught Tonga in an Octopus and drilled him with uppercuts.  He went for a handspring elbow but Bullet Club grabbed his arms as he was springing and pulled him to the floor.  Takahashi worked him over on the floor and sent him into the guard rail and apron.  CHAOS got involved and were worked over on the floor, being sent into the guard rails.

The Guerrillas of Destiny worked over Ospreay in the Bullet Club's corner.  Takahashi hit a running legdrop for a two count and drilled him with right hand after right hand.  Fale tagged in and dropped down on him, scoring a two count.  Roa tagged in and sent Ospreay into the corner several times, then slammed him up and over with a spinebuster for a two count.  He locked in a side chinlock and worked him over.  Ospreay used a chinbreaker to free himself but Fale cut him off before he could make a tag.

Ospreay ducked a double clothesline and nailed a handspring into a double elbow to stun them and tagged in Okada.  The IWGP champion chopped away on Fale before slamming him, which got a big reaction.  Okada went to the top but daw Fale coming and landed on his feet.  He nailed a forearm but was wiped out with a big shoulderblock.  Yujiro tagged in and nailed a Fisherman's Buster for a two count.  Yujiro kicked at the champ's head and rebounded off the ropes, only to be caught with a flapjack.

YOSHI-HASHI tagged in and nailed several big chops, then suplexed Yujiro into the ropes for a two count.  He went for a piledriver but was backdropped over.  The Guerrillas of Destiny began working him over with a series of clotheslines in the corner followed by a charging clothesline by Fale that rocked him.  They covered HASHI but CHAOS made the save.

Yujiro nailed a brainbuster combination for a two count.  Ospreay wiped him out with a dropkick.  Everyone began hitting the ring with big moves.  Okada nailed the Rainmaker dropkick on Tonga then sent Fale to the floor.  Ospreay hit a big twisting dive to the floor.  Yujiro drilled HASHI with a big boot.  HASHI nailed a sitdown powerbomb on Yujiro and scored the pin.

Your winners, CHAOS!

Another solid back and forth match with good action.  They pretty much used this win to set up HASHI challenging ROH champion Adam Cole tomorrow.

The Young Bucks vs. War Machine.

Matt Jackson took credit for the sold out house as they came to the ring.  He started out with Ray Rowe, who muscled Jackson over to the top rope and left him there.  Jackson charged him but was sent down several times.  Jackson grabbed an arm and worked it over, but was shoved down.  Rowe showed his power, sending Jackson running when he went for a shoulderblock.

Hanson tagged in, as did Nick Jackson.  Nick called for a test of strength, then told Hanson to "suck it" when he went for it.  They locked up and Hanson flung him into the corner.  Nick tried to escape but was tossed back into the corner over and over.  The Bucks double teamed Rowe and Hanson with double dropkicks, then caught Hanson against the ropes with a handstand, Matt trapping him so Nick could snap off another dropkick.  The Bucks went for stereo pescados but were caught on the floor and run into each other.

War Machine took over the ring, double teaming Nick with big knees.   Hanson nailed an awesome splash for a two count.  He locked in a chinlock, rubbing his beard into Jackson's eyes.  That was awesome.   War Machine went for a double chokeslam but Jackson fought his way out.  He was able to catch Rowe with a rana and dropped down when Hanson charged, sending him over the top to the floor.

Nick caught Rowe with a back elbow and tagged Matt, who fired away with forearms and punches.  Matt was tossed over the top but skinned the cat, and nailed a stunner.  He went to the top and hit a big flying bodypress for a two count.  The crowd chanted for the Bucks as Matt set up for a superkick.  He got caught with a big right hand and a running knee on the apron.  Nick Jackson superkicked him off the apron to the floor and hit a running kick to the face.  Nick hit the top rope with an awesome flip to the floor.  Rowe was tossed back into the ring for a two count.  Great stuff thus far.

Lots of great back and forth stuff.  Bucks went for the Meltzer Driver but Rowe caught Nick in mid-air.  Hanson caught them with a double powerbomb.  Rowe had Matt pinned after a pop up powerslam but Nick came off the top with a splash.  Lots of near falls, to the point the fans were chanting, "This is awesome".  War Machine finally scored the pin with Fallout.

Your winners, War Machine!

One hell of a match!  Young Bucks are a world unto themselves, they are so perfect at this point.  New Japan fits War Machine like a glove.  Just a great showing for all involved.  I loved the hell out of this.
