John Cena makes his way to the ring.
John wants the crowd to give it to him since he missed it so much. He says he does not care what you do or where you go, there is nothing like the excitement of the WWE Universe. There are very few places that compete with the excitement of the All-State Arena. Cena wonders if the crowd is chanting 'Cena Sucks' when they are chanting for CM Punk. Cena says that with everything that happened in Chicago in 2016, he thought they would be chanting "Go Cubs Go". Cena asks if there are White Sox fans in the crowd tonight.
Cena says that Chicago is the city of champions and WWE recognizes that so you will be getting championship matches. The Tag Title is on the line. The Women's Championship is on the line. The WWE Championship is on the line.
Who will be the WWE Champion to close out 2016? Will it be Dolph Ziggler? Will it be Baron Corbin? Cena says that you might not like Corbin, but he probably does not like you either. That does not mean he cannot walk out as champion. Will it be AJ Styles? He says it sounds like there are some AJ Styles fans in the house tonight. Cena says you can add him to the list. Can the champ that runs the camp do it one more time?
John wonders what is he doing here?
The crowd chants for the Undertaker. Cena thinks about it and he says hearing that makes him think that a lot of people have been speculating his future. 2016 was not a super year for 'Super Cena'. He heard he was damaged goods, washed up, and part timer. Some are saying that he has one foot out the door and he is gone to Hollywood and not coming back.
John says he is setting the record straight. He is not done. He is not leaving. He is sick of the 'New Era'. This is the "My Time is Now Era". When you get knocked down, you don't stay down. You fire up and you kick ass. John says he is watching the main event closely and he is challenging the winner at the Royal Rumble. John says you don't think he can do that. He just did.
We are back and Miz' locker room door is guarded by security and then Maryse opens and slams the door. Miz refuses to answer any questions from the interviewer. He says he will only talk to the woman who slapped him last week, Renee Young.
Match Number One: Randy Orton and Luke Harper (with Bray Wyatt versus Chad Gable and Jason Jordan versus Heath Slater and Rhyno versus Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso in an Elimination Tag Match for the Tag Team Championships
Gable and Rhyno start things off and Gable with a waist lock. Rhyno with an arm wringer and shoulder tackle. Rhyno with a short arm clothesline. Gable with forearms and Rhyno with a kick. Gable with an elbow followed by a Northern Lights suplex. Jey tags in and he kicks and punches Rhyno before hitting a leg drop for a near fall. Jey with a shoulder in the corner and Jimmy tags in and hits a running forearm. Jimmy gets a near fall. Jimmy chokes Rhyno in the ropes and Jey with a punch when the referee is not looking. Jimmy gets a near fall. Jey tags in and he applies a rear chin lock.
Jey sends Rhyno to the mat as Orton and Harper go to the floor to talk to Wyatt and not get drawn into the match. Jimmy tags in and applies a rear chin lock. Rhyno with punches but Rhyno with a short arm clothesline and both men are down. Slater tags in and he hits a forearm to the back of the neck followed by punches. Slater with a Harley Race knee and a jumping leg lariat. Slater gets a near fall.
Jimmy punches Slater and sends him to the apron. Slater with an enzuigiri and then he kicks Jey off the apron. Slater slips off the turnbuckles and Jimmy with a super kick and he pins Slater.
Heath Slater and Rhyno Eliminated
We go to commercial.
We are back and Jey with a reverse chin lock on Jordan. Jordan with punches but Jey keeps Jordan from making the tag but the second time Gable is tagged in. Jey floats over and no one is home so Gable with an Exploder for a near fall. Jimmy with an enzuigiri to Jordan and then Jimmy and Jey go up top for frog splashes but Gable and Jordan get to their feet and they hit overhead belly-to-belly suplexes. Gable goes for a sunset flip but Jey drops down and gets a near fall. Gable rolls up Jey to eliminate him.
Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso Eliminated
The Usos attack Gable and Jordan before going to the back and the referee points to the back.
Harper sends Jordan back in for Orton. Orton does the Garvin Stomp and then Orton drops Jordan on the top rope. Orton stomps on the head and chokes Jordan. Orton with a hard Irish whip. Orton with another Irish whip and Orton follows with a power slam for a near fall. Orton with European uppercuts to Jordan but Jordan with an Irish whip and drop kick. Harper and Gable tag in and Gable with a cross body and he knocks Orton off the apron. Gable with a drop kick and German suplex for a near fall. Wyatt gets on the apron and Orton punches Gable while the referee was not looking. Harper with a boot for a near fall.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Harper with a reverse chin lock on Gable. Harper with a side head lock take down. Harper with a back elbow and he catapults Gable into the middle rope and Gable falls to the floor. The referee makes his count and Gable gets back into the ring before the ten count. Harper wants to see if Gable can do it again and he sends Gable to the floor. Orton drops Gable twice onto the ringside barrier and Orton gets a near fall. Orton drops Gable on the top rope again and he hits a slingshot suplex and he gets a near fall.
Harper tags in and he mocks Gable and Jordan by holding out Gable's arm. Harper with a Michinoku Driver for a near fall and Harper with a Gator Roll. Gable tries to get into his corner but Harper with a Bossman slam for a near fall. Harper sets for a power bomb but Gable punches Harper and sends Harper into the turnbuckles with a rana. Orton and Jordan tag in and Jordan with back elbows and a drop kick. Jordan with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex to Harper. Jordan with a Saito suplex to Orton but Harper breaks up the cover.
Harper sends Jordan to the floor and Jordan pulls Harper out. They exchange punches and Gable with a cannonball onto Harper. Jordan clotheslines Wyatt off the apron. Orton with a kick and IEDDT. Orton looks around and he waits for Jordan to recover. Orton drops to the mat and Harper stops Gable from interfering. Harper is knocked off the apron and Gable with a missile drop kick. Gable makes the tag and Jordan with a shoulder and they hit Grand Amplitude for the three count.
Winners: Chad Gable and Jason Jordan
After the match, Harper and Orton have some words but Wyatt separates them and tries to calm both men down.
We are back and it is time to talk about The Royal Rumble.
We have a video package to set up the Triple Threat Match later tonight.
Dolph Ziggler is in the back and Renee asks Dolph about the risk he took last week and being the Triple Threat Match tonight.
Dolph says Baron was looking for a fight and he got it. It might not have been the best decision to put the title match on the line. Tonight, you have the Lone Wolf Baron Corbin and the Phenomenal One at the top of his game. Where does that leave Dolph? Opportunity after opportunity has been presented to him. Maybe he is the wild card in this thing. He gets your hopes up. Every once in a while, that wild card changes the whole damn game.
James Ellsworth is in the back and he is asked if people making fun of him gets to him. He says he is pretty scrawny and people make fun of his looks.
Carmella stops by and she says that Dasha is making fun of James by talking about him. She says she finds James uniquely attractive. They walk away.
