JEFF HARDY & JUSHIN LIGER TEAM FOR FIRST TIME EVER, RYBACK RETURNS TO THE RING, HARDY VS. MARSEGLIA, CODY RHODES, RICKY STEAMBOAT,HANSON VS. DIJAK AND MORE: COMPLETE NORTHEAST WRESTLING IN POMONA, NY COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-08-25 22:30:00

NEW Tag Team champions So Over vs. The Amazing Graysons vs. Adrenaline Rush.

So Over did some decent mic work before the match complaining about their opponents being beneath them. This was all action early on and since I don't know who is who, a little hard to recap.  In the end, one of the Graysons had Rush beaten but one of So Over lowblowed him and took the cover.  Everyone worked hard and you could see they were all trying to do big things to get the crowd into it.  Nice effort from all involved.

NEW champion Hanson (with Stevie Stamos) vs. Donovan Dijak

Dijak talked a lot of trash early on.   The story of the match was that they were two big bulls trying to test the other and overpower him.   Dijak actually shoulderblocked Hanson down as he went for a tackle, sending him out of the ring.  His manager Stevie Stamos entered the ring acting as if he was going to challenge Dijak for a fight.  That allowed Hanson to grab Dijak from behind and ringpost his arm as the referee was preoccupied with getting rid of Stamos.

Hanson worked over Dijak on the floor for a long time, beating him over the back and working on his arm.  He cinched in a rear chinlock.   Dijak fought back and began nailing right hands.  Hanson drilled him and sent Dijak into the corner.  He charged and Dijak moved.  They continued to drill the hell out of each other.   Dijak nailed a reverse kick and went for a move but Hanson drilled his bad arm.

Dijak nailed a big boot out of desperation for a two count.  They went back and forth until Hanson hit a cartwheel to avoid a move, which got a big pop, and clobbered him with a lariat for a close two count.   Dijak caught him with a BIG overhead belly to belly suplex.  Stevie Stamos got on the apron to distract the referee and Dijak, allowing Hanson to nail him with the NEW championship belt.  Dijak kicked up at the last second.

Hanson came off the top for a flying headbutt or splash but Dijak rolled out of the way.  Hanson went to the top and hit a beautiful moonsault but Dijak moved.   The battle continued as they exchanged some big bombs.  They cracked each other with stiff kicks and forearms.  They are better men than I will ever be.   Hanson came off the ropes for a springboard move but was caught with a chokeslam into a backbreaker.  The referee began counting but Stamos tossed his coat in and the referee stopped counting.  That was lame.

Dijak went to nail Stamos but Hanson came from behind.  Dijak ducked and Hanson stopped short.  Dijak knocked them into each other.  Hanson hit a sitdown powerbomb for a two count.  Dijak drilled him with a series of strikes but was caught with standing spinning kick.  Hanson collapsed down upon him and scored the pin.

Your winner and still NEW champion, Hanson!

Best match on the show so far.  They worked really hard and told a good story.

Cody Rhodes vs. Brian Anthony with Ricky Steamboat as the guest referee.

Nice reaction for Steamboat coming out.  He looks good.  Anthony was not happy Steamboat took away a stick he brought to the ring.Rhodes used his finesse to get control early, drilling him early with a kick and some other offense.  Anthony went to the floor and begged off.  Rhodes followed and was shoved into the ringpost.  Anthony slammed him on the floor.  They brawled to home plate, where Rhodes slammed him and celebrated, running the other bases.  He slid into home and Steamboat ruled he was safe.

They brawled back into ringside and battled around the ring before returning to it, where Rhodes chopped Anthony in the corner.   Back in the ring, Anthony regained control and worked over Rhodes for a long time.

Rhodes came back and nailed a superplex.  He cleaned house on Anthony with offense.  He caught Anthony with a kick with his head down as Rhodes came off the ropes.  He went for the Crossrhodes but it was reversed.  Steamboat got bumped during this.  Anthony nailed a TKO on Cody but there was no referee to count the pin.  Steamboat recovered and caught Anthony trying to use the stick.  He unloaded with chops and the place popped.  Rhodes nailed Crossrhodes and then locked in an Indian Death Lock.  Anthony tried to hold on but tapped.

Your winner, Cody Rhodes!

Jushin Liger & Jeff Hardy vs. TK O'Ryan & Miracle Mike Bennett

Liger and Hardy controlled O'Ryan early on.  Liger cinched in a bow and arrow.  Hardy tagged in and continued but was cut off.  Bennett and O'Ryan double teamed Hardy and scored several two counts.  Bennett and O'Ryan antagonized Liger, but the referee stopped him from entering the ring.  This alllowed them to continue to trash Hardy in their corner.

O'Ryan peppered Hardy in the corner.   They continued to work over Hardy.   Bennett charged across the ring and nailed Liger.  They set up Hardy and nailed a double suplex.   They slammed Hardy into the buckles/  Hardy nailed a pair of Twist of Fates on each and then made the hot tag to Liger.   Liger nailed palm strikes and hit a rana off the top.  Liger hit a suplex.  Hardy nailed a swanton and scored the pin.

Your winners, Jushin Liger & Jeff Hardy!

Fun main event.  Simple old school tag team bout.  Cool to see Hardy team with one of his heroes.

That's it from NEW tonight.  They have a slew of shows this weekend.  If you attend one, send a report!  Thanks for logging on to PWInsider tonight!!
