COMPLETE RAW REPORT AND THOUGHTS

By Mike Johnson on 2016-05-02 21:01:00

Battle Royal to determine number one contender to the WWE United States championship.

Kalisto was at ringside doing commentary.

Titus O'Neil officially returned to Raw here.   It was typical Battle Royal.  It came down to Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Zack and Rusev.  Although the League was dead, they worked together.  Zack was tossed over the top but held on.  The League all turned on each other.  Ryder nailed the Rough Ryder on ADR but was drilled by a Rusev kick.  Sheamus nailed a Brought Kick but was missed another.  Del Rio eliminated Sheamus with a series of kicks.  Rusev tried to toss Alberto but ADR held onto the ropes.  Rusev knocked him off the apron.

It was down to Rusev and Zack.  Zack cleaned house and nailed the Browski Boot but Rusev made the comeback and dumped him over the top to the floor.

Your winner, Rusev!

Zack played a great sympathetic babyface.  The League stuff was good.  Having Apollo and Corbin in here when they are out early seemed sort of a waste to me.  They should still be protected at this stage.  Crazy to see how much the audience loved Zack and hopefully WWE sees what they have here.

Out came WWE Women's champion Charlotte and Ric Flair.  They mocked the idea that Natalya didn't really submit at Payback.  Charlotte said that she didn't want any blemishes on her record and said only one man could set the record straight.  She called out Charles Robinson and asked that he just tell the truth.  The crowd chanted, "Cheater" at her.  She told them the queen was talking and asked Robinson if Natalya submitted.  He said she did.  Robinson said she didn't tap out but she was screaming "Stop it.  Stop it."

Charlotte asked him to make it clear that his long-term relationship with his idol Ric Flair had nothing to do with the decision.  He said, "Yes, No I mean No, absolutely not."  Charlotte said that as the referee, that means his decision is final and he agreed.  She said, "That will be all, 'Lil Naitch.  You're dismissed."

Out came a pissed off Natalya.  Charlotte tried to mock her, saying look what the cat dragged in but a pissed off Natalya grabbed the mic.  She said it wasn't about Robinson or Charlotte but it was about Ric Flair.  She said that last night, Flair paid a referee to screw her out of winning the Women's championship  She said that with all the garbage that comes out of their mouths, everyone in the world knows the truth - that the Harts were the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.

Charlotte went after Natalya, who nailed her and sent her to the floor.  Flair teased fighting Natalya and took his time taking off his jacket and watch.  She nailed him and put him in the Sharpshooter.  Charlotte pulled Ric out to the floor.  Natalya started taking Flair's jacket, rolex and ring and mocked him.

Good segment.  Charlotte is becoming far more confident as a talker on the mic.  Natalya had some good intensity.

They plugged "Camp WWE."

Backstage, Stephanie McMahon checked on Ric Flair and Charlotte.  She said that they have to prove once and for all superior to the Sharpshooter.  She made a submission match for Extreme Rules.  She then told Flair that he was becoming a distraction so he needed to be banned from ringside.  I assume they meant that match, not for good.  Flair was NOT happy.

AJ Styles & Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows vs. WWE World Heavyweight champion Roman Reigns & The Usos.

Roman and Styles started out and went back and forth.  Styles went for a side headlock and was sent off into the ropes, only to eat a shoulderblock,    Styles backed up into his corner and Gallows tagged himself in.  They went back and forth.  Reigns nailed a Samoan Drop for a two count.  Jimmy Uso tagged in and When they returned, Anderson was working over Jey.  Jey fought to his feet but was caught with a spinebuster for a two count....and my cable went out!

When it returned, Styles was nailing a Pele Kick on Roman.  Jey Uso drilled Styles and nailed a Samoan Drop but Anderson broke up the pinfall.  Roman drilled Anderson and they went to the floor.  Gallows attacked Roman on the floor.  They drilled Reigns with the Magic Boot into the barricade.  Styles nailed the Phenomenal Forearm on Uso and scored the pin.

Your winners, AJ Styles & Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows!

From a booking standpoint, this was the right move.

Anderson and Gallows brought a chair into the ring and held Roman.  They told Styles to use the chair and nail him.  Styles didn't want to and they forced it into his hand.  Moment of truth.  They held him for Styles, who acted like he might use it.  Styles threw the chair down.  Anderson and Gallows beat down Roman as Styles stood there  One of the Usos grabbed the chair and nailed Styles with the chair.  Styles got the chair and used it on the Usos.  Roman saw it and was furious, drilling AJ with the Superman Punch.  Styles was dumped to the floor and tossed Styles into the barricade.  The announcers were selling it that Roman has lost it.

Roman began setting up the announcer's table to put Styles through it.  Styles was again sent into the barricade.  Roman grabbed Styles and nailed a running powerbomb through the table, which looked awesome.  Roman stood over Styles as Raw went off the air.  Good angle.
