Ziggler would later go on a radio show and tease that the deal wasn't done and that he could still leave the company. Last week, WWE wrote Ziggler out of their storylines with an injury, leading some to speculate it was Ziggler's exit from the company.
That is not the case. Ziggler is signed to a new WWE deal.
Furthermore, as we broke earlier today in the PWInsider Elite section, Ziggler is scheduled to travel to Vancouver this week to star in a WWE Studios thriller film titled "6:42".
Ziggler will play the lead character, Ray Fitpatrick, a cop who has to overcome his own past while dealing with a plot to blow up a child with a bomb strapped to their chest.
The film will be directed by actor turned writer and director John Stockwell, who's most recent film was the true story marijuana trafficking film "Kid Cannabis". Stockwell's previous films include "Crazy/Beautiful", "Blue Crush", "Into the Blue", "Turistas", and "Dark Tide."
Richard Wenk, who wrote the Denzel Washington film "The Equalizer" is the screenwriter.
The film is scheduled for a four week shoot, which means that Ziggler won't be returning until sometime mid-August at the earliest.
Ziggler would not be doing the film if he was not locked into a WWE commitment. WWE once pulled Dave Bautista from starring in the film "Inside Out" because he was leaving the company and by the time it would be released, he wouldn't be part of WWE. WWE didn't want to chance promoting a film with a talent they didn't have under contract, so the role instead went to Triple H.
