We had a great relationship not only from a talent standpoint, but I used to work a lot with Vince hand-in-hand to create story lines behind the scenes, not just for myself but other guys. But if you have ever met Vince, he's a complex man and it can be trying. There are times he wants to choke me and there are times when I want to choke him."

2010 - WWE Raw ran Newcastle, England.  Ian Willis filed the following live report:

Raw WrestleMania Revenge Tour results from Newcastle, England.

1. Evan Bourne beat Chavo with Air Bourne.

2. Christian beat Dos Caras Jr. with the Killswitch.

3. After the match, Sheamus destroys Christian with the scissors kick and says he's taking on John Cena in the main event (a change to advertised Cena-HHH match, HHH missed 4/7 in Austria as well).

4. Maryse beat Eve and Kelly Kelly in a triple threat Divas title match.

5. Masterlock Open challenge (with Hornswoggle !!!!) Hornswoggle slips out of the Masterlock at the last second before it was locked in, hits a few kicks then a low blow to embarrass Masters.

6. Randy Orton beat Legacy in a 2 on 1 handicap match, via RKO of Cody. Randy got pops of the night (ahead of Cena, as everyone cheered for Orton, whereas only the very young cheered for Cena)

Intermission

7. William Regal beat MVP. The Newcastle crowd loved Regal, very few cheers for MVP, but Regal is English after all.

8. Miz cut a really funny promo about doing a signing in a supermarket, problems with immigration getting here and how he'd won more titles in 3 years than Newcastle United FC have in 30 years (major MAJOR heat for that) which led to -

Miz vs. Kofi for US Title, no-contest. Turned into tag title match (Big Show and Mark Henry came out). Showmiz win via Chokeslam from Show on Kofi. Ringside medical staff seemed legit concerned for Kofi (straight into the ring to check on him after the pinfall), trainer and WWE security guy (who looked a dead ringer for Fred Sanford) helped Kofi to the back.

9. Main Event - Cena vs Sheamus for WWE Title. All the kids loved Cena, everyone else booed him incessantly. Good match, usual 10 minute beatdown of Cena, then the usual recovery, 5 knuckle shuffle, shoulder block etc (which caused a few "same old s***" chants), Cena locks in the STF, but Sheamus makes the ropes. Sheamus gets the upper hand for a few more minutes, than Cena hits the attitude adjustment out of nowhere for the win.

Really good show, (where the hell were HHH and Batista though ???) good crowd and nice to hear that Smackdown is on here in November (as the last 4 WWE shows in Newcastle have all been RAW) - tickets on sale April 17th, 9am.

2011 - WWE broadcast Smackdown.  Richard Trionfo filed the following TV report:

We are live on tape from Charlotte, North Carolina and your announcers are Josh ‘Why did I get Stunnered at Wrestlemania, I didn’t say Melina versus Alicia Fox’ Mathews, Michael ‘In addition to being Mr. Wrestlemania, I am Mr. Squirting BBQ Sauce on a Shirt’ Cole and Booker ‘Tell Me You Didn’t Stun Me on Sunday’ T.

Things start off with Alberto Del Rio, the man who could not reach his destiny on Sunday night and he is accompanied on foot by his official ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez and Brodus Clay.

While Josh and Booker talk about the value of the car that Edge and Christian destroyed at Wrestlemania, Michael Cole chimes in with the sob story about the destruction of his habitrail. Cole vows that his home away from humanity will be better than ever.

Alberto is not as gregarious as he usually is but he reminds us who he is, but we already knew that. Alberto says that we may not know that destiny can be delayed. He says that destiny can be stopped. Last Sunday at Wrestlemania, his destiny was delayed by that opportunist Edge and the coward Christian. Together they destroyed his Wrestlemania moment and together they destroyed his car. Alberto talks about his beautiful Rolls Royce and he says that he spent $120,000 on that car. Alberto says that it is not about the money. Those cars are like his children. They think they may have broken him, but Alberto will make them pay.

When he fulfills his destiny and becomes the World Champion, everything that Edge did to his car . . .

is interrupted by Edge’s music and he comes into the building on a Brisco’s Brothers tow truck with Alberto’s destroyed Rolls Royce.

Edge tells Alberto that when he saw him crying and hugging his car on Sunday, he thought that Alberto was a greedy, arrogant, narcissistic moron who puts materialistic things over everything else in his life. Then when he heard Alberto say that his cars are like his children, then it got him thinking. He almost reassessed things and he figures that if he is like a child, he needs to love it unconditionally. It might be a little damaged but nothing a little tender loving care can’t fix.

Edge gets some spray paint and he decides to do a little touch up on the hood.

Alberto asks Edge if everything is a joke to him and then he reminds Edge that he had him close to tapping out on Sunday. Edge tells Alberto that he didn’t get the job done and that is why Alberto is in the ring whining and crying. That is also why he is the World Champion.

Alberto demands a rematch so Edge can redeem himself for his behavior at Wrestlemania.

Edge thinks about the rematch and he tells Alberto as much as he would love to give it to him, but Alberto lost. Edge tells him to buy a new car and drive to the back of the line. Edge says that there are so many worthy contenders who deserve a title match.

Edge thinks about some contenders and there is some honking from the truck and we see that Christian is driving the truck.

Edge says that Christian deserves a title match. Edge points out that Christian has beaten Del Rio twice. Edge tells Del Rio if he wants a fight, Edge has his destiny.

Edge walks to the ring but he is stopped by the sound of Teddy Long’s music.

Teddy tells them to wait a minute. They can talk about their destiny all they want, but it is still his show. Teddy says that if things are going to be settled, it will take place in a match. Alberto Del Rio will face Christian tonight to determine who faces Edge at Extreme Rules.

Teddy reminds us that Extreme Rules is the night that WWE gets extreme. That is why Edge will be defending the title in his specialty match, a ladder match.

We are back with a look back at what Michael Cole did to Jim Ross on Raw with JR’s Barbecue Sauce.

Michael Cole is in the ring and he rhetorically asks ‘Who Shot JR’ and he says that he did. Cole wants everyone’s attention please. He wants to take the opportunity to introduce everyone to a man whose instructions he followed implicitly. He wants to introduce us to a man who taught him everything that he knows. He wants to introduce us to a man who was oh so supportive of him and who cares about his well being. He introduces us to the All American American Jack Swagger.

Jack comes to the ring and then they hug while Josh and Booker talk about Cole’s match at Wrestlemania.

Jack says that everyone needs to settle down because there is plenty of Team Cole to go around. Everyone told him that it would be impossible for him to get Michael Cole ready for the main event of Wrestlemania, but it was easy. You start with superior intelligence and mix it with an insatiable desire and a man with gifted athletic ability from head to toe. Only Michael Cole can have his first match at Wrestlemania and earn a dominating victory and in one night become the new Mr. Wrestlemania.

Swagger wants everyone to applaud Cole and Cole says that Swagger is making him blush. Cole says that if it is a fair fight, there is no one who can beat Jack. Cole suggests that they do a victory lap and it is time to run with our hands outstretched.

Layla tells Michelle that they need the help, but Michelle says that she does not need help. Layla just wants Michelle to show up and Michelle says that she always shows up and it is Layla who doesn’t show up.

The people of the Izod Center are not Cena fans. John says that it should be ever superstar’s dream to be in the main event of Wrestlemania and to win that match. When you win the main event at Wrestlemania, you get to enjoy the adulation, the respect, the cheers . . . the cheers . . . the cheers.

John says that we have known each other for ten years and he might be going out on a limb tonight but he thinks people might be angry . . . maybe a little more than angry. John says that he is upset too. Wrestlemania is over and that is why everyone is upset.

John says that the WWE isn’t like the day after Christmas, it is the Raw after Wrestlemania. It doesn’t matter how you feel about him. John says that every Raw after Wrestlemania is more than that. Last year, Brock Lesnar returned to whip his ass.

John says that the crowd wants to have sex with chocolate and then they want to eat some more.

John introduces himself to Mark Henry. He sees the look in Mark’s eye and he is afraid. He is afraid to tell Mark that he has the breath of 1,000 asses. Tonight, Mark faces him for the WWE Championship.

Booker T comes out and he says that he cannot and will not have John make WWE Championship matches. It will not go down like that. The deal is that the Rock is entitled to a rematch.

John wants to know if Once in a Lifetime is now Best of Three.

Booker says that Rock is the Number One Contender but Rock suffered an injury and he cannot be here tonight. Booker tells Mark that if he wants a shot at the WWE Championship, he will have to earn it. If he can beat John Cena in the middle of the ring tonight, he will get his shot.

2014 - Just a day after appearing on Raw and three days after being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, The Ultimate Warrior passed away.  Warrior passed away earlier outside of a hotel in Arizona.  He was walking to his car with his wife when he collapsed.  He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

WWE issued the following statement:

WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior. Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Warrior became WWE Champion at WrestleMania VI, defeating Hulk Hogan in an epic encounter. We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans. WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans. Warrior was 54 and is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters.

Mike Johnson epnned the following:

W

Wow. What can one say?

The passing of the Ultimate Warrior, literally hours after he returned home to Arizona following his first appearance for WWE since 1996 on Raw, is going to either be remembered as one of those tragic coincidences or a truly amazing final chapter in his life.

In a way, that's sort of fitting for the life and the career that Warrior led. There was no middle ground for him, no grey area. You were either on his side or you were against him - and it didn't matter if you were Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan or an independent promoter....if Warrior didn't feel he was being treated fairly or was being represented fairly, you were going to suffer his wrath, publicly and privately.

That led to a lot of people seeing Warrior in one of two ways - the man who stood up for himself and would walk away from anything...or the man who was impossible to deal with.  The reality is that he was both, sometimes at the same time, but he was also someone who was that way because he had a strong belief in himself, his family and his legacy - and that is something that has to be admired, especially today.

I spent about six hours with Warrior in a hotel room once in October 2004, filming a shoot interview that was later released by Ringside Collectibles. Off camera, he was warm and funny and friendly, even though he was very tired from his flight to NYC. His primary concerns were to call his family during every break.

Once the camera turned on, there was an intensity to him and on many points during the filming (and on a lot that was never seen - Warrior had final approval over the final cut, of course: he was Warrior) we argued about different points. He even at one point mocked me for asking him about different memories, which made his WWE Hall of Fame speech pretty amusing to me as he went on and on and on with what else? Memories.

At times, on camera, it felt like I was going to war with the man, but anytime the cameras were off, he was nothing but friendly and happy, especially when his long-time friend Jim Powers showed up. That visit was especially awesome, since the segment we had just filmed featured Warrior's statement that he didn't keep in contact with anyone from the business. Five minutes later, he's hugging Powers. Why? Warrior knew how he wanted to be presented on the DVD.

When the interview was over, Warrior asked for my information. When I left the hotel room, I could hear him very unhappy complaining about the line of questioning I used at times. I knew right then I'd never hear from him. I never did, but at a signing the next day, he greeted me warmly. That was just how he was.  The experience led to one of the most unique interviews ever released on DVD: a dare anyone to find another where the interviewer and the subject are almost at odds the entire time.  It remains in my personal "top ten" things I've done around wrestling just because of the surreal nature of the discussion.

I was often asked a lot over the years about what Warrior was really like and the filming of that DVD and it was certainly an interesting day. There were times when I would ask a question (he had demanded them in advance) and he had a great answer, but when I asked a follow-up, he would stare at me as if I had broken the rules before finally giving one. If you watched his WWE Hall of Fame speech, there were times when he seemed to lose his train of thought before coming back to his point - that was the same Warrior I met in 2004.

At the Hall, just like that day with me, he was focused and intense, and if you knocked him off that focus, he wasn't happy about it and needed a minute to refocus himself and his thoughts. The guy envisioned what he wanted in his head for himself and how he was to be portrayed and if he was off even a small point from what he wanted, there was going to be hell to pay.  I can and do respect that.

For all the talk of the guy not being a great in-ring worker or hard to deal with, he was in the top echelon of all time great professional wrestling personalities. He went from being just another muscle-bound rookie in wrestling scene full of them to the man that handed the Hulkamania-era Hulk Hogan his first-ever clean pinfall loss in the WWF. He was undoubtedly part of the trilogy of the WWF's great three babyfaces of their first decade - Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior - that trio shaped the enjoyment, dreams and happiness of a lot of wrestling fans....and Warrior was the only guy to pin them both at Wrestlemania.

Anyone who denies that he was an icon or a legend or anything else in pro wrestling is completely insane - Warrior hit a level that very few ever have...and very few ever will...especially in the short amount of time Warrior accomplished the feat.

It absolutely sucks that he died when he did. The idea that this man left his home to come back and finally embrace his past - bringing his children to see what Daddy used to do - and never returned to his home again is pretty damn jarring and if anything, should be a reminder to us all that nothing is ever, ever promised to us.

It's also absolutely insane to think of the timing of his passing. If it had been 96 hours earlier, there would have been no WWE Hall of Fame speech that brought some around me to tears in New Orleans. Had it happened on Sunday, it would happened the same day as Wrestlemania. 48 hours sooner, it could have happened before, at or after Monday Night Raw.

In some ways, we were watching Warrior give his own eulogy.  Again, you never know.  Nothing is a given for any of us.

Wrestling fans who love Warrior owe a great deal of thanks to Triple H, who spearheaded the drive to bring Warrior back into the WWE family, much as he did Bruno Sammartino a year before. Had it not been HHH trying to put out old fires and give wrestling fans what they wanted, had it not been HHH wanting important figures in the history of the business back in the WWE fold, there never would have been that final moment of farewell, that moment for Warrior fans to enjoy and that crazy picture of Vince McMahon and Warrior smiling together.

Don't believe me? As any die-hard Randy Savage fan what they would have given for that sort of closure and happiness.

It would have been very interesting to see what could have come for Warrior and WWE in the years to come.  His appearance on Raw was as much about closing the door on his career as the Hall was.  He was never going to let himself be one of the older guys appearing in a silly Wrestlemania vignette.  He was more likely going to be presented like Bruno Sammartino was - this legend that WWE is lucky to have had blazing the trail and lucky to have around today.

Well, for two days, WWE and its fans were extremely lucky to have Warrior back.

The story of Warrior is going to be one that is told for many, many decades to come. There were the early days in Memphis and Mid-South with Sting. There were the Dingo Warrior days with the Von Erichs, who Warrior loved deeply. There was the first WWF run that saw him go from an unknown working B-shows to winning the Intercontinental title in 30 seconds to main eventing Wrestlemania VI before 60,000 fans to "retiring" Randy Savage. There was the first break-up with WWF over money, which as court documents would later show, WWF was willing to give him before things went sour. There was a return a year later before the inevitable change in the landscape in the business as Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels began to be pushed while larger characters were let go for different reasons that all began with the Dr. Zahorian trial in the early 1990s. There was the 1996 return, during a time period where WWF really needed as many strong characters as possible as WCW breathed down their neck, but heads began knocking and Warrior quit and went home. There was the WCW run that was as awful as anything and really just an excuse for Hulk Hogan to get his old loss back - one that was so bad that Warrior admitted on the WWE DVD release that just came out that if he had known what the deal was, no amount of money would have brought him back.

There were lawsuits. There were rumors of multiple Warriors (false). There were rumors he died and was replaced (again, false, although eerily sad given the news of today).

In the end though, Warrior best summed up his career with his appearances this past weekend. His character was one that inspired and one that gave fans something to believe in. I don't think anyone could ask for a better legacy than that.

Always Believe.
