EVOLVE 37 REPORT: RETURN OF RONIN; GALLOWAY VERSUS RICOCHET; STRONG VERSUS THATCHER; AND MORE

Before the opening match, Tony Nese gets on the mic and he says that they were given an offer yesterday. He has done some thinking over the last twenty four hours. There needs to be some change to the Premier Athlete Brand. He is going to accept Val’s offer so she is the new PR Director of the Premier Athlete Brand.

Tony says that Su is still on the team, but he has to demote her. Su is going to be Val’s assistant and she will do everything that Val tells her to do.

Match Number One: Anthony Nese (with Su Yung and Caleb Konley) versus Shane Strickland

They lock up and Nese with a waist lock and take down. Strickland with an arm bar and he takes Nese to the mat. Nese with a reversal and side head lock. Nese with a shoulder tackle and he gets a near fall. They lock up and Nese with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Strickland walks on his hands and he takes Nese down with a head scissors and follows with a drop kick. Nese goes to the apron and he tries for a slingshot move but Strickland with a round kick.

Strickland goes over the top rope and he hits a rana. Strickland with a chop to Nese followed by a European uppercut. Strickland with more chops and forearms on the floor. Strickland wants the crowd to be quiet for his next chop and he connects. Su stands between Nese and Strickland and Val distracts Strickland. Nese chops Strickland and Nese returns him into the ring.

Nese with kicks to the head followed by a rear chin lock. Nese with a back elbow and he gets a near fall. Nese with a front face lock. Nese with a front face lock but Strickland tries for a sunset flip. Nese with a kick to escape and he gets a near fall. Nese with a reverse chin lock. Strickland with punches to Nese but Nese trips Strickland as he goes to the floor. Nese misses a slingshot double jump moonsault when Strickland moves.

Strickland with punches and Nese punches back. They continue the exchange with Strickland getting the advantage. Nese with a forearm but Strickland with a forearm of his own. Nese has a bicycle kick blocked and Strickland with kicks. Strickland misses a round kick but he does not miss with an enzuigiri.

Nese floats over Strickland but Strickland with a cutter for a near fall. Nese with a European uppercut. Strickland with a hesitation DDT and he gets a near fall. Strickland with a kick to the chest and then he continues with the kicking. Nese blocks a kick and he sweeps the leg and Strickland counters a single leg crab with a rollup for a near fall. Strickland with a German suplex but Nese lands on his feet and he hits a double stomp for a near fall.

Nese with kicks and a super kick followed by a rollup for a near fall into a one arm buckle bomb for a near fall. Nese tries for a suplex and Strickland blocks it. Nese with knees but Strickland escapes the suplex but Nese with a modified Michinoku Driver for a near fall. Nese with a single leg crab and Strickland taps out.

Winner: Anthony Nese

Before the next match, Roderick Strong gets on the mic and he tells the people to stop booing. Roderick says that he would never hurt Heather. Roderick says that he is not going to do what he did last night to Drew.

Match Number Two: Ratings Match: Timothy Thatcher versus Roderick Strong

They lock up but Strong goes to the floor instead. Strong returns to the ring and he retreats into the ropes to get inside Thatcher’s head. Strong with a front face lock and waist lock. Thatcher with a key lock and Strong gets to the ropes. Thatcher with European uppercuts but Strong with a take down and he starts to work on the leg. Strong continues to work on the legs. Strong with a chin lock. Strong with a key lock into a cover but Thatcher bridges.

Thatcher goes for an arm bar submission but Strong gets to his feet. Strong returns to the ring. Strong with chops but Thatcher with European uppercuts. Thatcher with a back elbow and he gets a near fall. Strong with a baseball slide and the referee warns him. Strong chokes and kicks Thatcher and the referee warns him. Strong with a near fall and then he connects with elbows. Strong with knees to the back.

Thatcher with a take down but Strong holds on. Strong with a near fall. Strong works on Thatcher’s neck. Strong with a kick followed by a chop. Thatcher with a cross arm breaker but Strong with a rollup for a near fall. Strong gets to the ropes and then he pulls Thatcher to the floor and sends him into the ring post. Strong with a near fall. Strong with kicks but Thatcher with European uppercuts.

Strong gets a near fall and then he tries for the Strong Hold but Thatcher blocks Strong from locking it in. Strong with punches to Thatcher. Strong puts Thatcher on the top turnbuckle and he sets for a superplex. Strong punches to Thatcher followed by a running knee and running forearm and Olympic Slam for a near fall.

Strong with a knee and he chokes Timothy in the ropes. Thatcher with European uppercuts but Strong with a kick. Thatcher puts Strong on the turnbuckles and he tries for the Tower of McGuinness but Strong gets to his feet and he hits a German suplex. Strong kicks Thatcher in the head and Thatcher gets more frustrated.

Thatcher with European uppercuts and slaps. Strong with a kick to Thatcher. Strong with a near fall. Strong with chops. Strong sets for the superplex but Thatcher knocks him down. Strong with a kick and then he hits the superplex. Strong gets a near fall. Strong with the Strong Hold and Thatcher tries to get to the ropes. Thatcher kicks Strong away and gets a rollup. Strong with a knee but Thatcher with a head butt and butterfly suplex for a near fall. Thatcher with the Fujiwara arm bar and Strong taps out.

Winner: Timothy Thatcher

After the match, Thatcher says that he is not a man of words, but he has something to say. He says that he won the Style Battle Tournament the last time he was in Florida. Chris Hero came to the ring and kicked him in the face. He has a favor. He wants to face Chris Hero when WWN goes to California in March.

Match Number Three: Ratings Match: AR Fox versus Trevor Lee

Lee with a kick and side head lock. Lee with a shoulder tackle. Fox with an arm drag but Lee with an arm drag of his own. Fox with an arm drag and Japanese arm drag and kip up. Fox misses a splash into the corner and Lee with an arm drag from the apron into the ring. Fox with a drop kick. Fox with a chop and punches in the corner. Lee with an elbow but Fox with a kick. Lee with a boot to Fox. Fox misses a clothesline and they go off the ropes until Lee hits a series of kicks. Fox with a bulldog out of a wheelbarrow position. Fox with a suicide dive through the bottom ropes, then he goes to the middle and top rope. Fox goes for a third one but Lee with a forearm.

Fox with a bicycle kick but Lee goes to the floor when Fox tries another kick. Lee with a kick to the head after Fox lands on his feet on an Asai Moonsault off the ring post. Lee goes to the floor and he rakes the eyes. Lee says that Fox has met the guy that is going to kill his ass. The referee stops the match.

Winner: Trevor Lee (by referee stoppage)

After the match, wrestlers come out to check on Fox.

Match Number Four: Ratings Match: Biff Busick versus Uhaa Nation

They shake hands and lock up with Uhaa giving a clean break. They lock up again and go to a stalemate. Biff wants a test of strength. Uhaa obliges and gets the advantage. Biff gains the advantage and applies a side head lock. Uhaa with a side head lock and Uhaa with a flip and leap frog. Uhaa with a drop kick followed by a plancha.

Uhaa rolls back into the ring and he goes back to the floor and he chops Biff and sends him into the apron. Biff with chops and a European uppercut. Biff with another chop. Uhaa with a back body drop on the floor and then Uhaa breaks the count. Uhaa rolls Biff back into the ring and gets a near fall. Uhaa with a slam and then he hits a leaping elbow drop and gets a near fall.

Uhaa with forearms and he charges at Biff but Biff drops down and he is sent over the top rope to the floor. Biff with a near fall. Biff with a knee to the midsection for a near fall. Biff with an elbow to the midsection. Biff with a knee to the midsection. Biff tries for a knee but Uhaa with a rollup for a near fall.

Biff with a kick and abdominal stretch. Uhaa with a hip toss and splash into the corner. Uhaa with a flying clothesline. Uhaa with a series of German suplexes but Biff with elbows to the head. Uhaa with a bicycle kick and a German suplex for a near fall. Uhaa with a frog splash for a near fall.

Uhaa with a delayed vertical suplex but Biff counters and hits a half nelson suplex. Uhaa with a spear and both men are down. Uhaa with forearms but Biff fires back. Biff with European uppercuts but Uhaa with punches. Biff with chops and Uhaa slaps Biff and connects with forearms. Uhaa runs into an elbow from Biff and then Biff goes over Uhaa but he runs into a boot. Uhaa flips over Biff and hits an enzuigiri. Uhaa with a press slam followed by a standing moonsault for a near fall.

Biff with a sleeper. Uhaa avoids his arm going down a third time. Uhaa with a power bomb and then he picks up Biff for a sit out power bomb. Uhaa goes for the gorilla superplex and gets a near fall. Uhaa with a forearm and then he tries to press Biff over his head but Biff gets Uhaa to tap out to the Saka Otoshi.

Winner: Biff Busick

After the match, Biff gets on the mic and he tells Uhaa that he respects him.

Biff says that he has something to get off his chest. Tim Thatcher wants to come out here and talk about Chris Hero, but he should be talking about Biff Busick. Last time you were in the ring with Chris Hero, Chris kicked him in the face. The last time Tim Thatcher was in the ring with him, Tim tucked his tail between his legs. He challenges Chris to a match in San Jose. He says that he will make Chris his bitch.

Match Number Five: EVOLVE Championship Match: Drew Galloway versus Ricochet

Ricochet with a super kick before the bell rings and he gets a near fall. Ricochet with kicks before Drew can take his jacket off. Ricochet with chops and shoulders. Ricochet floats over and Drew with chops. Drew with forearms across the chest. Drew sends Ricochet into the guardrails. Ricochet comes off the basket with a rana. Ricochet with punches. Drew runs Ricochet into the wall and then gives him a Fallaway Slam into the wall. Drew carries Ricochet back to the ring and sends him back inside.

Drew adjusts his busted finger and Ricochet kicks Drew in the hand and follows with a kick. Ricochet works on the hand in the corner and he snap mares Drew and stomps on the hand. Ricochet with a moonsault onto the injured hand. Ricochet kicks Drew in the head and he taunts Drew. Drew chops Ricochet and then throws him into the turnbuckles and he punches him. Drew with a splash into the corner and he goes to the apron and hits a clothesline.

Drew misses a Yakuza kick and Ricochet with a shoulder in the corner followed by a springboard double knee drop for a near fall. Ricochet tries for the Regalplex but Drew blocks it. Ricochet with a kick to the back and a waist lock but Drew backs him into the corner. Drew with a German suplex into the turnbuckles and he gets a near fall. Drew sets for Future Shock but Ricochet blocks it and hits a round kick followed by a Regalplex for a near fall. Ricochet with a shooting star press for a near fall.

Ricochet goes up top but Drew crotches Ricochet on top and he slaps Ricochet. Drew with forearms to the back and then to the chest. Drew slaps Ricochet but Ricochet punches back and he slaps Drew into a Tree of Woe. Drew pulls himself up and hits an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Drew runs into an elbow.

Drew with an elbow and he hits a reverse Alabama Slam for a near fall. Drew kicks Ricochet. Drew sets for Future Shock but Ricochet with a Northern Lights Suplex followed by a vertical suplex for a near fall. Ricochet with a kick and he goes up top but Drew moves on a Shooting Star Press. Ricochet lands on his feet and he kicks Drew. Drew hits Ricochet in the face with the splint. Drew with the flying boot followed by the Future Shock for the three count.

Winner: Drew Galloway

Match Number Six: Losing Team Must Split Up: Ronin (Johnny Gargano, Rich Swann, and Chuck Taylor) versus The Bravado Brothers and Moose

The bell rings and all six men battle with Lancelot and Taylor brawling at ringside while Moose and Swann battle. Harlem and Gargano battle on the floor. Moose is sent into the ring post. Swann battles with Harlem while Taylor sends Lancelot into the apron. Harlem begs for mercy from Swann. Harlem with a punch and side head lock and shoulder tackle. Swann with a drop kick. Lancelot with a shoulder but Gargano with a slingshot DDT. Moose with a double clothesline.

Moose sends Swann into the air and Swann with a drop kick. Swann ducks and Moose goes over the top rope to the floor. Swann goes for a slingshot rana and Moose catches him and he power bombs Swann into Taylor and Gargano. Harlem with a near fall on Swann. Harlem kicks Swann. Lancelot tags in and he runs Swann into the turnbuckles. Moose tags in. Moose with a slam and he hits a diving head butt. Moose gets a near fall. Moose with a clothesline for a near fall.

Harlem tags in and he applies a full nelson. Harlem with a belly-to-back suplex to Swann for a near fall. Harlem mocks Gargano and Taylor by holding out Swann’s hand. Lancelot and Harlem with a double back elbow. Lancelot with a knee to the back. Harlem with a kick after he tags in. Swann with an inside cradle to Harlem. Harlem with a kick and he tags in Moose. Moose with Snake Eyes. Moose with another Snake Eyes and he tags in Harlem.

Harlem with a front face lock. Taylor and Gargano attack Lancelot and Moose on the apron and then they hit a double drop kick to Harlem. Taylor and Gargano with dives to the floor while Swann recovers. Gargano with a DDT followed by moonsaults from Taylor and Swann for a near fall. Harlem gets sent to the apron. Harlem with a slingshot stunner and then Swann gets tossed across the ring for a near fall.

Gargano and Taylor work over Moose. Taylor with a super kick and Gargano with a drop kick. Taylor and Gargano kick Harlem. Harlem with a forearm to Taylor followed by an Exploder to Gargano into Taylor. Lancelot gets a near fall on Gargano. Lancelot tries for the buckle bomb into the enzuigiri but Gargano with a rana that sends Lancelot into Harlem. Ronin with a triple drop kick.

Moose with a spear to Taylor. Gargano misses a forearm and Moose gets Gragano on his shoulders and he catches Swann and hits a double Fallaway slam. Moose shakes Harlem’s hand but then he picks him up and hits a Death Valley Driver onto everyone on the floor. Moose with a flip dive onto everyone on the floor. Moose misses a clothesline to Swann.

Swann with punches but Moose with a side slam. Moose sets for the spear but Swann leap frogs him. Moose punches Swann and then he goes up top and is met with a triple super kick. Gargano with a superkick and then they hit a double stomp to the back and Gargano with a lungblower followed by a kick from Taylor and a frog splash to Harlem for the three count.

Winners: Ronin

After the match, Johnny Gargano points out that the Bravados can never team again because of the Stipulation. Johnny says that he is the face of WWN Live, but he was wrong. He says that Chuck Taylor is the face of WWN. Rich Swann is the face of WWN. Everyone in the locker room is the face of WWN.

Johnny says you saw some of the best professional wrestling on the planet. As the Open the Freedom Gate Champion, he vows to make it the most prestigious title in the world. He makes an open challenge to anyone in the world.

Drew Galloway comes out and he applauds Johnny’s comments. He asks for the mic.

He says that he listened to what Johnny says. He agrees with everything that Johnny said. Everyone agrees with what Johnny says.

Drew says that he hates to be the bearer of bad news but this is Evolve and his title is the most important title in professional wrestling.
