BIG BATISTA UPDATE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-09-09 16:20:19
As I've discussed in the Elite section of PWInsider.com, former World champion Dave Bautista is believed to plan to eventually return to WWE, but likely won't be doing that until at least 2015.

Bautista, who was one of the top stars for "Guardians of the Galaxy" for Marvel is believed to be getting a re-worked contract with the Studio that would allow them to use him for multiple films going forward. Marvel traditionally places actors under multi-picture deals so their characters can be used in anything from a cameo to a sequel to a spin-off film.

As Drax, Bautista is expected to figure prominently in not just the sequel for "Guardians" but will be involved in the eventual "Avenger 3" film, which will climax all the storylines that have been building since the first "Avengers" film.

Bautista, who sources have noted wasn't happy with the creative or financial end of his most recent WWE run, was frustrated, feeling that by the time some momentum was going with his on screen persona, it was time to leave for his Marvel responsibilities. Still, we are told that he does eventually want to come back so he can have an official end to his WWE career on his own terms.

Bautista has spoken publicly of wanting to do a Wrestlemania-level bout with Triple H, who he defeated to win his first WWE World title in 2005 at Wrestlemania 21. In previous interviews with PWInsider.com, Bautista has said he never wanted to return for just a PPV bout as opposed to a longer run.

But, all those plans will have to take a backseat to the acting world as his management team plans Bautista's Hollywood future, which beyond the Marvel films, will also feature a major role in an upcoming remake of the 1980s action flick "Kickboxer."
