WWE presents the “Showcase of the Immortals†. . . Wrestlemania 30 Sunday night, live from New Orleans. Here is our take on what will happen.
WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs. Batista versus the Winner of the Daniel Bryan versus Triple H Match
Dave: Daniel Bryan should win here, and he should do so by overcoming all the odds and with help from no one else. Nothing else should even be considered.
Mike: The only really smart scenario is for WWE to give Daniel Bryan his just due. I'd love to see someone, anyone make the argument that anything else would be the best thing for the show. I see Bryan winning unless they go with a completely ridiculous swerve that kills the show.
Richard: This match will probably be Bryan versus Orton versus Batista and there is only one option that most people will accept. The only option that I will not like is Batista winning the title. He has been a bust since returning before Royal Rumble. If they do give the title to Bryan, they cannot take the title off of him for a while or it is another missed opportunity.
Winner Enters the WWE World Championship Match: Triple H versus Daniel Bryan
Dave: Bryan has to win here. I expect a war where Bryan wins but comes out battered and in peril for the main event. That will give them a story throughout.
Mike: This should be awesome. I expect they will have a lot of great near falls. In the end, Bryan should make H tap.
Richard: This match has me torn because if it is the fan reaction that is forcing Daniel Bryan to go over and potentially win the title at Wrestlemania, I am not a fan of that scenario. I do like the idea of Daniel Bryan getting his Wrestlemania Moment to replace the one from two years ago. I almost want to see Triple H win to see the reaction from the crowd, but I think they have to get Bryan into the World Title match or we could see an empty arena match.
Beast versus The Streak: Brock Lesnar versus Undertaker
Dave: I never want to see the streak end so I put Taker over here in a war.
Mike: This should be a great war but in the end, Taker wins with the Hell's Gate submission.
Richard: Brock Lesnar finally got the upper hand on the Undertaker on Monday night, but if you use the ‘Final Raw before a PPV Logic’ Formula that means that the Streak is guaranteed to continue. I think Undertaker wins the match and goes to 22-0. After a year against a much smaller opponent, he is facing someone his own size in Brock. This should be a good brawl, but I wonder how long this match will go if they are going to go all out. Taker should have to give Brock a number of tombstone piledrivers to get the win. Will Taker kick out of the F-5?
John Cena versus Bray Wyatt
Dave: They have finally put Cena in a place to elevate a young talent, so of course I want to see Bray go over here. A loss doesn't hurt Cena at all. A win should help elevate Bray. Do what makes sense!
Mike: Cena losing would be the best thing for all involved. Wyatt can be moved up a notch and Cena can get some sympathy. I think this will be a sleeper bout in that it doesn't have a load of attention and hype on it (compared to the Daniel Bryan scenario) allowing it to surprise people.
Richard: This match has had the best build and if Bray Wyatt can be half as effective in the ring as he has been on the mic, then we can have a huge Wrestlemania Moment for Wyatt. I do not think a John Cena victory will destroy Wyatt’s push, but a clean victory will be the best option for Wyatt. If Wyatt has a strong performance and loses, that is the second best thing that could happen. It would be better than a Wyatt victory with a lot of assistance from Harper and Rowan. Will we finally see ‘Sister Abigail’?
Kane, Road Dogg, and Billy Gunn versus Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins
Dave: The Shield should largely destroy Kane and the AARP members. A decimation should get a great reaction from the crowd.
Mike: Unless they are going to turn Ambrose, which would be silly so quickly, my guess is Billy Gunn is eating a spear and Superman Punch. Shield wins.
Richard: The most important thing about this match will be seeing the Shield standing together victorious at the end. I was hoping that Kane would have recruited Harper and Rowan to be his partners so we could have a better match. This should be a return to the Shield of late 2012 and early 2013 when they were the most dominant force in the company. I hope this is a short match that sees three men laying in the ring after the carnage. Cerberus Bombs for everyone.
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal (featuring Dolph Ziggler, Big E, Fandango, Alberto Del Rio, Damien Sandow, Titus O'Neil, Christian, Sheamus, Big Show, Mark Henry, Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal, Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Kofi Kingston, The Miz, Brodus Clay, Darren Young, Justin Gabriel, Rey Mysterio, R-Truth, Santino Marella, The Great Khali, Zack Ryder, Sin Cara, Brad Maddox, and three more [as of Tuesday night])
Dave: Show is the most obvious guy to win, so he won't. I think the way to go is to have Ziggler put in an all time performance and elevate him by winning. It's time for him to get a push.
Mike: I really like the Ziggler idea. If WWE is smart they will shock everyone by having Khali and Show being the first elimination. I wouldn't be shocked to see a Backlund legend type or even a RVD or Jericho level name pop up as a surprise, although I haven't heard of anyone out of the ordinary in NO yet.
Richard: I guess this will be the new annual tradition for Wrestlemania, replacing the Money in the Bank Match. To link this to Andre will make this match mean something more than a time to get a lot of people a Wrestlemania pay day. At the time this is being written, there are three spots still open. I wonder if a legend will be given that spot or someone on the active roster. Show and Henry are the logical favorites because of their size, but could we see an upset? Since he won the biggest Royal Rumble, I am going to go out on a limb and say that Alberto Del Rio wins to build on the momentum of his win over Big E on Monday night. My dark horse is Cody Rhodes because he deserves to be pushed to the moon.
Vickie Guerrero Divas Invitational Title Match: AJ Lee versus Tamina Snuka versus Brie Bella versus Nikki Bella versus Summer Rae versus Aksana versus Alicia Fox versus Rosa Mendes versus Eva Marie versus Naomi versus Cameron versus Natalya versus Layla El versus Emma
Dave: The odds are against AJ, both in and out of the ring. They could go a lot of ways here and I am not sure what they will do. I like having the Divas belt and the E! show separate so I would have Tamina pin AJ.
Mike: If anyone should win the title, it should be Natalya.
Richard: Whoever made this match first pinfall should be forced to watch this match on a continuous loop for 24 hours as punishment. Why not make it a Divas Battle Royal until the final two and then make it a standard match? I would love for either Eva Marie, Cameron, Rosa Mendes, or Aksana to win the match just to see how people react to that. I think Naomi or Tamina wins the match since Naomi had the build before her injury, and Tamina has been in AJ’s shadow for a long time.
WWE Tag Title Match: Jimmy and Jey Uso versus Curtis Axel and Ryback versus Fernando and Diego versus Cesaro and Jack Swagger (Kickoff Match)
Dave: It wasn't all that long that the tag belts mattered. Sad. Matadors and Rybaxel don't belong here. Cesaro should be a single and face so I book it so it comes down to The Usos and The Americans. Swagger wants Cesaro to cheat. Cesaro tells him to win the right way. Swagger gets pinned. The Americans break up.
Richard: If they are going to take the titles off the Usos, I hope the Real Americans win the title because I think they have been on a roll over the last few weeks. It seems like the other two challengers in the match are filler to allow for the finish to take place without the champions being pinned if they do the title switch.
