CM PUNK-WWE UPDATE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-03-21 13:01:39
As I reported on Monday in my PWInsider Elite audio hotline, WWE has continued to distance themselves from CM Punk and are under the notion that he is not returning to the company

We have been told by one source within the company that the script for the WWE Flintstones DVD film, which was originally to have featured Punk, has had the script changed to remove him and feature Rey Mysterio in a more prominent role. The Camp WWE cartoon series, expected to debut later this year, will also likely remove Punk.

Punk is expected to be featured in the WWE Slam City cartoon series as the bulk of the 24 episodes for that series, which promotes the toy line of the same name, had been completed. His name was not used in the promotional material for the show and the Punk character will appear but will be downplayed in publicity.

Punk has been removed from all WWE promotional videos that play at house shows and TV tapings, including all footage of his bout against Undertaker at last year's Wrestlemania being pulled from a Mania music video that runs to open every taping.

Since Punk is still under contract, WWE is still selling his merchandise at live events.
