2009 - In the midst of their legal issues with Ric Flair, Highspots.com issued the following statement to PWInsider.com:
It has been accurately reported that, Highspots is one of two companies that Ric Flair pledged his NWA belt to for outstanding amounts owed. To ensure that the eventual buyer has no potential issues, Highspots has continued to work with the other holder of the lien on the title belt at issue.
After speaking with our counsel, Combraco, Inc. has informed us that they decided to give Mr. Flair an additional six months in which to repay the more than $300,000 that he owes to them. While we are disappointed by the delay, we respect the legal process and continue to work to resolve the issues with Mr. Flair’s other creditors to protect the interest of our customers.
In the unlikely event Mr. Flair pays these funds owed, we will be the only remaining lien holder on the belt and will place it back for sale. If he does not, we anticipate working with Combraco after the period ends to reach a final agreement to facilitate the sale.
Again, we are sorry for the delay, but Highspots is a long standing and respected company that values its integrity and respect for the legal process. We will continue to hold the belt and will update the situation and contact all individuals who submitted bids again this spring.
2010 - After failing to become Senator, Linda McMahon's campaign issued the following to her mailing list:
Dear Friend,
It has been my honor and pleasure to have had the opportunity to run for the United States Senate here in Connecticut.
I couldn't have done it without you. Your faith and trust in me during the past 13 months has meant so very much.
I have thoroughly enjoyed traveling around our beautiful state from the northwest corner, to the quiet corner down along the shoreline and into Fairfield county with points in between. We racked up 52,000 miles on the campaign vehicle but the journey has been a joy.
I am also very proud of the campaign that we have run. Our ground game was tremendous: hardworking volunteers like you knocked on 100,000 doors, made more than 400,000 phone calls and proudly placed countless yard signs in front of your homes and businesses.
My campaign's focus was on economic recovery and job creation, and today, that same focus must remain the top priority of our newly elected officials. Let us all make sure they have our support for the good of our state and our country.
The United States is the best place to live in and I truly believe we as American's have a strength and resolve that will pull us through these next few unpredictable years. We must look ahead and bring ourselves to remember as President Ronald Reagan once said, "If you're afraid of the future, then get out of the way, stand aside. The people of this country are ready to move again."
Thank you all for your heartfelt support and encouragement. Sincerely,
Linda McMahon

2010 - TNA broadcast Impact. Stu Carapola filed the following TV report:
Welcome to the TNA Impact Report here on PWInsider.com!
We open the show with a recap of last week's concussion angle that I wrote a whole column about yesterday and won't bore you with a rehash here. We go from that to Ric Flair pumping up "Kung Fu Bischoff" for...something tonight. And indeed, here comes Bischoff and Flair to the ring, and Bischoff is shadow boxing on his way down the ramp while Flair smiles and applauds. Something still just feels so wrong about that. So Cal Val holds the ropes for flair and hands Bischoff a microphone, and Bischoff says he has some major business to take care of tonight, but first he wants to address Matt Morgan. Earlier today, he and Flair talked to Hogan and they all agreed that Morgan is no longer part of Fortune or Immortal, and is now persona non grata. He tells Morgan to stay away from the Impact Zone and wishes him well in his future endeavors. Bischoff has a message for Ken Anderson, and Flair goes "Oh yeah, that guy who's not tough enough to be a wrestler." Bischoff says he's going to give Anderson one last opportunity to wrestle Jeff Hardy, and he's going to give him that chance tonight, because if he can come out and pin Bischoff, he can have his match with Jeff Hardy. But since Bischoff read his doctor's report and knows he's sitting at home, that's probably unlikely, but Bischoff says if he doesn't get his ass down to the ring, he's never going to get a shot at Jeff Hardy again. If Anderson gets here in the next two hours, he's going to give him a little sample of what he's in for against Hardy. Bischoff calls the referee over and asks him why he let Morgan out of the handcuffs last week, and the referee explains that Jarrett refused to be released, so he released Morgan. Bischoff doesn't appreciate him calling him a liar, and Flair says he was talking back, so Bischoff kicks the referee's ass and throws him out of the ring. Flair says that was awesome and bows down to Bischoff. What a great segment...
We hit the new and improved opening video, and then we run down tonight's card before going backstage to Fortune, who are laughing about what they did to Matt Morgan...except for Douglas Williams, who seems disgusted by the whole thing.
We go backstage to EV2.0 as Brian Kendrick is getting a massage and reading poetry to the rest of the group. Rob Van Dam comes in and asks Tommy Dreamer if he's going to give him the same speech as the week before. Stevie Richards says Raven's not here and Tommy says Raven isn't Bischoff's boy, but then Fortune walks in and makes fun of EV2.0 for getting in each other's face. AJ says to get their fighting in now because one of them's going home after Turning Point. AJ gets up in Rhino's face, so Rhino gets up and goes to Gore AJ, but AJ moves and Rhino hits RVD by accident.
We see a video showing us the history of the Jeff HArdy/Ken Anderson feud that was supposed to main event Turning Point, and then we go to Mike Tenay and Taz, who are joined on the phone by Ken Anderson. Anderson says that after Hardy hit him with the chair, he got the worst concussion of his life. We see several slow motion replays of the chairshot, and you can see that he really cracked him. Taz asks what it was like after getting the concussion, and Anderson says the pain went away in a few days, but his short term memory was gone and it was really scary, so he's going to get checked out this week. Tenay says that Morgan really stepped up to the plate in his absence, and Anderson says he appreciates that, but with everything that's happened in the last few weeks, it's hard to say whether Morgan can even be trusted, but he at least appeared to have Anderson's best interests at heart, and in that case he'll have Morgan's back as well because friends are hard to come by in TNA these days. Tenay wishes him the best in his recovery and says that we can't wait to see him back in the Impact Zone.
Up next, Sarita takes on Velvet Sky, and we go backstage to the Beautiful People's dressing room. Angelina says she'll be at ringside if Velvet needs anything, and Velvet says she loves her, but Velvet has something to prove tonight so she's going to do it on her own. She hopes Angelina's not offended by that, and Angelina says of course not. Velvet leaves, and guess who's there when Angelina looks in the mirror again? That's right, it's Winter! Winter says she knows she's disappointed, but not to worry because Winter won't leave her. Angelina says thanks, but she likes being alone and leaves the dressing room. The camera follows Angelina out of the room, and when it turns back to the mirror...WINTER IS GONE.
Time to go to the ring for our first match...
Sarita vs Velvet Sky
Velvet with a go behind, but Sarita reverses and goes for a suplex, Velvet rolls through, and gets a flying headscissors on Sarita. Velvet follows that up with an armdrag and bars the arm, Sarita shoves her way out and takes Velvet to the corner for some chops, but Velvet reverses and gets some chops of her own. Velvet goes for her DDT but Sarita escapes, so Velvet gets a chinbreaker and a diving dropkick instead. Velvet goes for the DDT again, but she tries right next to the ropes so we know what's going to happen. Sure enough, Sarita blocks and Velvet starts to lose her composure, so Sarita takes advantage by kicking Velvet in the abdomen, puts the boots to Velvet in the corner, and gets a rolling cradle for 2. Velvet comes back with some chops, but Sarita gets a back elbow to take Velvet down and then goes for the Tiger Driver, but Velvet slips out the back and gets a bulldog. Velvet with a couple of clotheslines and reverses a suplex to a crossbody for 2, then gets a chinbreaker. Velvet goes for the DDT again but Sarita Tullys her to the floor, and Velvet again loses her cool and gets caught with a boot coming back in, and Sarita hits the Tiger Driver and picks up another win.
Winner: Sarita
Velvet is really pissed off that she lost, and Sarita mocks her from the aisle.
Backstage, Jeff Jarrett is holding those punching pads on his hands so Bischoff can do some practice boxing, and Bischoff stops to tell Jarrett that it was nice that he apologized to Angle, but he ought to apologize to Joe too. Jarrett asks if Hogan would apologize and Bischoff stops to think about it for a moment, then goes "nah" and goes back to his practice shots.
We go backstage with Fortune, and Williams and Kazarian are arguing again. Flair says they're not going to have any internal strife and says they're going to go do it Horsemen style. Williams sees Christy Hemme getting ready for an interview, so he goes over and tries to steal some interview time, but the microphone's dead, so they look for another mic...and Anderson's mic drops from the ceiling.
Back to the ring...
Generation Me & Tara vs Mickie James vs Ink Inc & Mickie James
Jesse Neal & Jeremy Buck start, Jeremy takes Jesse to the corner, but Jesse gets a crossbody out of the corner for 2. Tag to Shannon Moore who comes in with a rolling senton and goes to an armbar. Mickie and Tara start going after each other and distract the ref while Shannon sunset flips Jeremy, and he ends up only getting 2. Jesse tags in and Shannon hiptosses him onto Jeremy, but Jeremy tags to Max so Neal gets a boot to the gut and a swinging neckbreaker for 2. Max backdrops Jesse to the apron and Tara grabs him while Max gets a headscissors on Jesse and Jeremy dropkicks Neal in the face. Awesome spot. Generation Me works Jesse over in the corner, and Max gets a great dropkick and tags out to Jeremy, who gleefully puts the boots to Neal. Jeremy sends Neal to the floor where Tara waylays him with a forearm and then throws him back in where Max covers him for 2. GenMe with some more quick tagging action, but they accidentally collide and Jesse makes the hot tag and Shannon comes in and cleans house. Mickie crotches Max on the top rope and then goes up top and gets a top rope Frankensteiner on Max. Shannon skeeballs Jeremy to the floor and then backdrops Shannon onto Jeremy, then gets a moonsault on Max, but Tara breaks up the pin so Mickie comes in with a Thesz Press and she and Tara start going at it. Max goes after Mickie, but Mickie rolls under him and gets a Mick Kick and Shannon hits the Mooregasm for the win.
Winners: Mickie James & Ink Inc
Great match! Tara and GenMe attack them from behind and Tara claws at Mickie's face as GenMe puts the boots to Ink Inc. Now it's their turn to celebrate.
Let's go backstage to Orlando Jordan and Eric Young, who are having a therapy session with a marriage counselor. They make all kinds of sexual entendres about dominating each other, and then Eric Young tells a long, rambling story about when he was in camp and the Brownies and Cub Scouts both wanted him, and then he says he's had lots of partners and Orlando's the best one because he keeps him loose. Oh, the wit just slays me.
Jeff Jarrett is backstage, and he's...WALKING!
Team 3D are backstage with the Motor City Machine Guns, and Bubba says it's strange to be excited about a retirement match from what they love doing the most, and are mostly excited about wrestling the Guns. The Guns say that they're excited to be in there with Team 3D, who are the whole reason tag team wrestling in TNA is what it is. Both teams are positive about their chances of walking out of Turning Point with the title, and they share a laugh and say they'll see each other at Turning Point.
We see a video package showing us Jeff Jarrett's path of rage, as he's committed brutal attacks on Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, and Matt Morgan over the last three weeks, and then we head to the ring as Jarrett comes out to address the crowd. Jarrett starts by asking Kurt Angle where he gets off showing up like a thief in the night and smashing out limo windows (crowd starts a you sold out chant), trying to attack Flair and Eric, and he knew Kurt was weak, but even he didn't realize he was this week. He asks Kurt if Eric Bischoff or Flair tried to put him in a wheelchair, and he says no, it was him, and the issue is with Jeff Jarrett. He says that if Kurt has all this pent up anger, he needs to relax, think about things, and go home where he can be all alone. Jarrett gets a little chuckle from that one. He then has one word for Samoa Joe: he's sorry. He's truly sorry, because if he had any idea the stage was as high as it was when he threw him off, he can say one thing: he'd have gone a hell of a lot higher, and being the man he is, he'll give Joe a chance at Turning Point. He says Joe's a good guy just like he used to be, and good guys always come back, don't they? Finally, he'd like to address the fans and everyone at home, because he never wants people to chant "you sold out" at him ever again because the truth is that he bought in. Jarrett drops the mic and walks off, stopping to give dirty looks to all the fans on his way up the ramp. Suddenly, Samoa Joe burts through the ramp and goes after Jeff Jarrett, beating the crap out of him all around ringside. Joe tosses Jarrett into the ring and tosses him in the corner and follows him in with a running high knee. He goes for the Muscle Buster but Overzealous Security runs in and Joe takes both of them out too. He goes back after Jarrett, but Jarrett has recovered and heads for the hills. Joe gives him dirty looks, and now Overzealous Security go after him again, so Joe kicks their asses again, tosses one over the top rope, and gives the other the Muscle Buster and goes back to staring Jarrett down.
RVD is backstage and he doesn't know who to trust anymore, but he's not sure if it matters because he can trust himself, and he hopes it doesn't matter if he's just out for himself now.
We go to Eric Bischoff's office as he continues to limber up for his "match" with Ken Anderson, and then we go back to the ring for a title match...kind of.
TV Title Match: AJ Styles vs Rhino vs Rob Van Dam
AJ and RVD go nose to nose, but RVD shoves him off and Rhino tosses him to the floor. RVD and Rhino stare down briefly, then Rhino goes after AJ on the floor and gets whipped into the stairs. RVD gets a baseball slide and goes for a dive, but AJ rolls back in and RVD lands on the apron, but AJ nails him with a dropkick. AJ continues the assault with forearms and chops, but RVD gets a killer monkey flip that sends AJ about 80% of the way across the ring. AJ goes to the eyes and starts unloading on RVD in the corner and gets a slam and goes for the fancy kneedrop, but Rhino grabs the ankle and comes back in, killing AJ with a clothesline and a big belly to belly suplex. Rhino goes for the Gore, but AJ moves and Rhino hits the turnbuckle and rolls out to the apron. AJ turns around and eats a spinkick from RVD, and RVD gets a slam, but goes for a second and AJ slips out and whips RVD to the corner. He charges and gets backdropped to the apron, but RVD with another thrust kick sends AJ to the floor. RVD goes for a dive but Rhino yanks him down and they start arguing. AJ comes in with a springboard forearm to lay out Rhino, then rolls up RVD and pulls the tights to get the win.
Winner: AJ Styles
AJ grabs the belt and runs as RVD stands up with a look of frustration at Rhino. They start arguing in the ring again and start yelling at each other until the rest of EV2.0 comes in to get between them. RVD decks Raven, so Tommy Dreamer grabs a microphone and says that's enough, and wants to know what's going on with RVD. RVD asks if he should trust them like he trusted Jeff. RVD says he knows Dreamer is the brains of the outfit and says Tommy seems awfully defensive of RVD's accusations. Dreamer says that RVD needs his head fixed and says they ought to go old school, and challenges him to a match at Turning Point. RVD says to tell his man Bischoff that they're on. Tommy says he'll see him at Turning Point.
Douglas Williams and Frankie Kazarian are backstage, and they're...STRETCHING!
Abyss is backstage and says that Pope is a false prophet, and if he was truly a Pope, he'd know that Immortal is like Hulk Hogan and they will live forever, then says he's going to destroy the Congregation one by one.
Back to the ring...
Douglas Williams vs Frankie Kazarian
Ric Flair joins Mike Tenay and Taz on commentary for this one, and he's sucking on a lollipop. They do a chain wrestling sequence to start and end up in a stalemate. Beer Money come on down to ringside as Kazarian takes Williams down with a shoulderblock. Williams regains his feet and takes Kazarian down with a headlock, but Kazarian reverses to a headlock of his own and Kazarian reverses out of that into a sunset flip, but Williams cradles the legs for 2. Both men back to their feet and they go to a Greco-Roman knuckle lock and Williams powers Kazarian down into a bridge, but Kazarian bridges back up and now forces Williams into a bridge, Williams regains his base but Kazarian sweeps the legs and gets a series of kicks and a spinkick for 2. Kazarian whips Williams into the ropes but they hit head to head and both men go down. Williams gets up first and gets a flying elbow and Kazarian tries a crossbody out of the corner, but Williams reverses for 2. Williams whips Kazarian to the corner and follows in with a high knee and a T-bone suplex for 2. Kazarian reverses a whip and Williams collides with James Storm (who was up on the apron), and Kazarian rolls him up for the win.
Winner: Frankie Kazarian
Beer Money get in the ring and now Fortune are all arguing with each other, so Flair comes in to cool things down and offers Williams a handshake, then tells Kazarian and Williams to shake hands, and they do so...reluctantly.
Pope is backstage and after what's happened between Abyss and himself, he's going to get ahold of Abyss on Impact, and if he has to pimp slap him over and over again, then that's what Pope's going to do.
We go to Eric Young and Orlando Jordan, who are still in therapy. Eric's talking about his relationship with his mother as he lays his head on Orlando's leg, and Orlando says that it's his fault because he hasn't communicated himself well. Orlando says he needs to tell Young something: he's bi. Eric says "POLAR!" as in Orlando's bipolar. Haha. And then he calls the psychiatrist a quack and says they're not going to validate his parking.
Back to the ring...
Abyss vs The Pope
Pope rushes the ring with taped ribs and goes right after Abyss with rights, then gets a drop down uppercut and a second, and Abyss is on the ropes. Pope tries a charge but Abyss pops up and boots Pope in the face. Abyss waits for Pope to regain his feet and gets the Choo Choo in the corner and Pope crumples to the mat. Abyss picks him up and tosses him to the floor, then goes out after him and lays in several hard rights before going over to the guardrail and shoving one fan down, then dragging another over the guardrail and punching him. Referee calls for the bell, and I'll assume that Abyss got disqualified for attacking fans, so...
Winner: The Pope by DQ
Abyss keeps going, dragging several more fans out of the crowd and attacking them, and security comes out to try and stop him but he shoves them off, too. Pope gets the mic and tells Abyss that if he wants to go after members of the Congregation, then how about at Turning Point, they have a Lumberjack Match with all of the Congregation as the lumberjacks. Abyss says he'd never speak for Hogan or Bischoff, but he doesn't think they'll mind this one time, and he says Pope is on.
We go backstage to the Shore, where Robbie E talks about how good he looks, and how much better he looks after he wins the X Division at Turning Point. Cookie says after he wins the title, they're going to go partying it up, but they're sending Jay Lethal home to his mommy because Shore is in the house...bitches.
We see a promo video running down the card for this weekend's Turning Point PPV, and then we go backstage to Eric Bischoff, and he's...WALKING! He says that somebody's going to get their ass kicked tonight, and then he walks off camera where he tells someone to watch it and calls him an asshole.
We go to a freaky video package of Jeff Hardy talking about how he spent years thinking that he should do the right thing, but he didn't get what he wanted until he stopped caring, and at Turning Point he's going to do it again no matter the cost. At Turning Point, we'll celebrate the Antichrist...Jeff Hardy.
It's 11:00, so it's time for our main event...
Eric Bischoff vs Ken Anderson
Eric Bischoff's chyron says "martial arts master." Bischoff gets a mic and says that this is his last shot, and he's lowering the bar for him: all he's got to do is come beat him, sign the contract, and he's got Jeff Hardy. Bischoff hands a piece of paper to Jeremy Borash and tells him to announce it exactly the way he wrote it, and with enthusiasm. Borash says this match was sanctioned by the Immortal Athletic Commission Vice President, Eric Bischoff, and it's the moment we've all been waiting for. He introduces Bischoff as weighing 160 lbs with 4% body fat, an eighth degree black belt in karate, entering the match with a perfect record of 34-0, all by TKO, the undisputed, undefeated TNA World Kickboxing Champion of the world: artist, musician, kickboxer, genius, visionary...Eric Bischoff! And his opponent: from the frozen inbred tundra of Green Bay, Wisconsin, he has never been the TNA World Champion, the Importent Warrior, the Russian with a concussion, the pussy willow of Wisconsin, the President Obama of head trauma...Borash finally stops and tells Bischoff this is ridiculous because he's not here. Bischoff tells him to keep going, so Borash starts to finish, but Bischoff grabs the mic out of his hands and tells him that he said to read it exactly the way he wrote it. Bischoff says we all know that Anderson's not here, but everyone tuned in to see him go, so Bischoff suggests that he wrestle Borash instead. Bischoff kicks him in the knee and then kicks him in the head and Borash goes down, so Bischoff crouches over him and starts drilling him with rights. Ken Anderson's music hits and the lights go out, and when they come back up, Matt Morgan is standing behind Bischoff in the ring. Winner: Matt Morgan
Okay, we're into Reaction now, but Morgan grabs the contract and signs it himself, then tells Bischoff to tell Jeff Hardy that he's going to see him at Turning Point. Morgan leaves and Ric Flair comes out to check on Bischoff, and grabs a mic and tells Morgan that the biggest mistake he ever made was walking away from Fortune, but now he's got nowhere to go, and in three days, now he's got to face Jeff Hardy at Turning Point and he guarantees that Morgan's going to bleed, sweat and pay the price of a wrestling lifetime. Flair drops the mic and helps Bischoff to his feet and gives Bischoff a big hug.
2011 - A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit brought against the federal government by WWE Hall of Famer and former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, claiming that the lawsuit had been filed in the wrong jurisdiction.
Ventura's suit claimed that airport scans and pat-downs amounted to unreasonable search and seizure. A United States District Judge in St. Paul, MN dismissed the suit, citing that it should have been filed in a Circuit Court of Appeals.
The Associated Press reported that Ventura was so upset by the ruling that he threatened to file for dual citizenship and move to Mexico, where he maintains a home.
Ventura filed the suit after his hip replacement set off an airport alarm in November 2010, leading to the former Governor being given a pat-down. Ventura has claimed that he hasn't flown since and that the move is illegal under the United States Constitution.
Ventura stated that he wasn't sure if he would continue to pursue the lawsuit. To date, he has not.Match Number One: Randy Orton versus Cody Rhodes with the Bag Men in a Street Fight

EITA vs Jon Davis
After taking his time as usual to get in the ring, Davis simply squats in his corner after the bell and waits for EITA to come to him. EITA appears understandably reluctant to do so, and waves Davis to come out to him. Davis finally obliges, and a tie up results in Davis tossing EITA into the corner and choking him with his boot. Gabe Sapolsky himself jumps in on commentary just to thank the fans for coming to this weekend's shows given the conditions after the hurricane. EITA may wish Davis didn't make it to the show, because Davis repeatedly slams him with a lot of velocity, but EITA dodges a legdrop and catches Davis with a low crossbody for 2. EITA with La Magistral cradle for 2, and an attempt at a small package is easily blocked by Davis, who powers EITA into a delayed vertical suplex that gets him 2. Davis plants EITA into the mat with a back suplex and clubs him with a series of forearms to the back, but EITA starts hulking up and no-sells Davis, he tries to get Davis into a chopping match, but Davis won't play ball with him, so EITA dropkicks Davis out to the apron and then baseball slides his legs out from under him. Davis falls down to the floor and EITA connects with a second baseball slide, then moonsaults off the top rope and wipes Davis out by the entryway. EITA sends Davis back in and nails him with a missile dropkick that gets 2, then signals that he's getting ready to put Davis away. Somehow I doubt his plan is going to work, and indeed Davis proves me right by popping EITA into the air for a powerbomb, folds him in half with a release German suplex, then takes his head off with a short clothesline for the win.
Winner: Jon Davis
So now Davis has not only squashed Johnny Gargano this weekend, but he also made short work of the guy who took Gargano to the limit on Friday. I like the way this story is being told, and Jon Davis comes out of the weekend looking pretty damn unbeatable.
The Scene vs Tony Nese & Papadon
Trina is wearing a somewhat less revealing top tonight, so looks like no chance of a repeat of last night's wardrobe malfunction. Nese and Papadon are two regulars from the NYWC, whose building DGUSA is running in tonight, but they're not just on the show as a favor to the NYWC, they're two of the best wrestlers on the independents today and are both guys a lot of people see very bright futures for. Reed and Nese start, with Nese taking control with a series of armdrags. Nese is the first guy in a while I've seen who looks like he can match power with Reed, and indeed he pops him over with a gutwrench suplex that gets 2, then Papadon tags in and fires off several forearms, but Reed manages to get Papadon into his corner so he can tag out to Konley, who comes in and promptly takes a windmill backbreaker before getting caught in the NYWC corner. Nese cartwheels through a hiptoss and ties Konley up in a full nelson using the legs, but Konley gets out and Nese goes to the ropes, but Larry Dallas grabs his ankle from the floor. Nese has words with Dallas and doesn't see Reed come out of nowhere with a clothesline that sends him plummeting to the floor. Marti Belle comes out to ringside and Dallas hides behind Trina to avoid the beating he knows he's in for, and in the meantime the Scene brings Nese back inside and lay a beating on him while Papadon watches helplessly from his corner. Konley picks Nese up for a vertical suplex and holds him so Reed can lay in a couple of chops, then drops him and covers for a 2 count. The crowd starts getting behind Nese as Reed goes for a tornado DDT, but Nese shows a tremendous amount of power by not only blocking the move, but lifting Reed back onto the top turnbuckle and giving him a top rope Frankensteiner. Both men make the tag, and Papadon comes in like a house of fire, pummeling Konley with kicks and suplexing Reed across the ring. Papadon comes off the second rope with a diving European uppercut and makes a cover, but Reed breaks it up at 2. Nese dumps Reed to the floor as Papadon gives Konley a Flatliner into the corner, setting him up for a facewash from Nese. Papadon powerbombs Konley into the corner as Nese nails Konley with a leaping enziguiri, but Reed comes in and dumps Nese to the floor and then superkicks Papadon into a German suplex from Konley that gets 2. Nese comes back in and clotheslines Reed over the top and they both go out together, leaving Konley and Papadon alone in the ring. Konley tries to superplex Papadon and Papadon fights him off, Trina gets on the apron to try and distract Papadon with her boobage, but Marti Belle pulls her down to the floor as Reed gets ahold of Papadon and drags him out as well. Konley is still down in the ring, so Nese quickly capitalizes with a 450 splash and scores the win.
Winners: Tony Nese & Papadon
Terrific showing by Nese & Papadon and a good win for them, but the Scene lay them out and then Reed powerbombs Marti Belle so a shirtless and jiggly Larry Dallas can get on the mat and count three. Sami Callihan & Arik Cannon run in to chase the Scene off, and Callihan carries Marti Belle back to the locker room for medical attention while Cannon demands his opponent come out to the ring to start their match.
Arik Cannon & ACH
ACH rushes the ring and starts brawling with Cannon, who tries putting him on the top rope for some dastardly move, but ACH knocks him off and out to the floor and takes him out with a dive. ACH goes for a split legged moonsault to the floor, Cannon moves but ACH lands on his feet, and he handsprings off the ropes to deliver a flying headscissors on the floor. ACH sends Cannon back into the ring and goes up top, but Cannon casually walks out of the way of the flying bodypress in much the same way Samoa Joe used to, and he starts putting the boots to ACH. Cannon snapmares ACH and dropkicks him in the back of the head, and gets 2 off a cover. Cannon goes to the eyes and then plants ACH with a snap suplex for 2. Cannon is methodically stalking ACH, taking his time to pick him up before drilling him in the face with a forearm. ACH decides to trade punches with Cannon, but Cannon comes out on top of that exchange. He then makes the mistake of playing ACH's game by going to the ropes, and he gets dropkicked for his trouble. ACH hits Paydirt, but takes too long going to the ropes and Cannon tosses him off and kicks him in the breadbasket. ACH tries a flying headscissors, but Cannon catches and powerbombs him, then hits a running clothesline for 2. Cannon's looking a bit frustrated as he picks ACH up for a suplex, but ACH comes out the back and hits an inverted Frankensteiner that gets 2. ACH tries a 450 splash, but the pool is empty and ACH eats mat. ACH charges Cannon and runs into a big right hand, and Cannon finishes him with the twisting suplex.
Winner: Arik Cannon
Solid match, ACH showed some good stuff here but I like how Cannon got past all his fancy moves with a good, old fashioned right hand to the jaw and used his size and power to put him away.
Jigsaw & Fire Ant vs Super Smash Brothers
I already know this match is going to be hell to do play by play for, but I'll do my best. Everyone shakes hands before the match, and then we get Fire Ant and a shirtless Player Uno starting us off. Uno takes Fire Ant to the corner and breaks clean, flexing at his diminuitive opponent. Fire Ant tries a different angle and goes behind Uno with a hammerlock, Uno reverses to one of his own and Fire Ant snapmares him. They then go to a wristlock exchange and Fire Ant is unable to take Uno down with a shoulderblock, so he stomps on Uno's foot and tries a flying headscissors. Uno catches him and does the Ryback march, but is unable to deliver an offensive move. Fire Ant dodges several Hadokens and dropkicks Uno, then Dos and Jigsaw come in and Dos jumps off the top rope for no real reason. Now Jigsaw jumps off the top rope for no reason, and then Dos goes behind Jigsaw and takes him down with a waistlock. Jigsaw reverses and gets Dos in a headlock, Dos rolls Jigsaw to his back for a 1 count, and we're back at a stalemate as then both start marching around the ring. Dos takes Jigsaw down to the mat, rolls him, and gets a side headlock. Jigsaw escapes and gets Dos in a Gory Special, sinking the hold in deep before Dos escapes and gets a pair of flying headscissors. Jigsaw with a flying back elbow to Dos, followed by a flying headscissors and a slingshot suplex into a gutbuster for 2. That was innovative! Jigsaw with a series of hard chops to the chest of Dos, and Dos tries to fight his way out of Jigsaw's corner, but Jigsaw tags in Fire Ant, who connects with a double stomp to the back of Dos, followed by a basement dropkick for 2. Dos escapes a double back suplex attempt and takes both opponents out with a Pelle kick, then makes the tag to Uno, who gets the swinging Flatlines on Jigsaw for 2. Uno rams Fire Ant to the corner and DRILLS him with a chop that was so hard he hurt his own hand. Uno with a charging clothesline in the corner and then whips Jigsaw into the boot of Dos, who tags in and comes over the top rope with a slingshot senton that gets him 2. Dos goes for a snap suplex and has to throw a little extra power behind it to get Jigsaw over, but he does and it gets him 2. Double team by the SSB gets 2, and Jigsaw needs to make the tag to Fire Ant, but Uno boxes his ears and gives him a back suplex for 2. Dos tags in and hits a running kneestrike to the face, but only gets 2, so he connects with a chop of his own and then charges Jigsaw against the ropes, but Fire Ant nails him with a leaping enziguiri to the face and then Jigsaw finally makes the tag. Fire Ant sends both members of the SSB to the outside with a flurry, and then he and Jigsaw take them both out with stereo dives. Uno gets suplexed out to the floor and then Dos gets planted with a double brainbuster for 2. Uno comes in and drills Jigsaw with a bicycle kick, Fire Ant kicks Uno, Dos kicks Fire Ant, Jigsaw takes a Code Red into the corner, Dos suplexes Fire Ant onto Jigsaw, then the powerbomb/backbreaker double team gets 2. Uno goes for another powerbomb, but Fire Ant shifts his weight in midair and gives him a Stunner, then Jigsaw and Fire Ant nail Dos with stereo superkicks. Uno and Dos are both slumped in the same corner, so Fire Ant and Jigsaw hit stereo Van Terminators. Jigsaw goes for a cover on Dos, but Uno shoves Fire Ant onto Jigsaw to break the cover. Uno breaks through a double clothesline from Jigsaw and Fire Ant and plants them both with a DDT/Flatliner combo. The SSB go for the finish, Jigsaw and Fire Ant try to block them, but Uno gets Fire Ant in a Gory Special and Dos comes off the top rope to plant Fire Ant with a rolling Ace Crusher for the win.
Winners: Super Smash Brothers
Terrific match, both teams had very strong showings this weekend and the Super Smash Brothers in particular really impressed me with how good they've gotten since the first time I saw them. I really enjoyed this one a lot.
No DQ Match: Chuck Taylor vs Rich Swann
This match is happening because Swann pinned Taylor in the six man on Friday, and Swann comes sprinting out of the back to attack Taylor and jump start the match. Taylor chokes Swann in the corner, but Swann tosses Taylor out to the floor and grinds what looks like one of those fancy corkscrews with the arms you use to open wine bottles into Taylor's groin. Taylor fights that one off quickly and makes Swann regret getting cute by dumping him chest first on the guardrail. Swann reverses a whip and sends Taylor crashing into the guardrail and then he nails him with a charging boot to the face. Now Taylor gets ahold of the corkscrew and gouges it into Swann's forehead, then hiptosses him onto the hard floor. Taylor picks Swann up again and this time dumps him onto the ring apron, but Swann hits a low blow on Taylor and rams his face into the ring apron, but Taylor reverses a whip and now it's Swann who goes crashing into the rail. Taylor smashes Swann's face into the rail, but Swann responds in kind to Taylor before superkicking him for good measure. Swann has the fans hand him a bunch of folding chairs, sliding a couple of them into the ring before using a third to smash Taylor over the back. He tries another chairshot, but Taylor kicks him in the breadbasket and then hits a DDT on the floor, with Swann spiking down vertically on the top of his head right on the concrete. Taylor rolls Swann back inside and picks up a screwdriver, sticking it into Swann's mouth and grinding it into the inside of Swann's cheek. Taylor with a nice back suplex, the first wrestling move of the match, and covers Swann for 2. Taylor straddles Swann on the second rope, and Swann tries firing back with some weakened right hands, but Taylor plants Swann into the mat with a pair of bodyslams. Taylor slaps Swann in the face and takes a jab in the face in response, but Taylor smacks him in the face again and now Swann flips him the bird. Taylor grabs his finger and bites it, then uses a pair of pliers to try and break Swann's fingers. Swann holds the ropes to keep from getting whipped across the ring, but Taylor finally succeeds and Swann catches Taylor out of nowhere with a handspring into an Ace Crusher. Swann rolls out to the floor and goes under the ring, bringing out a metal crutch and using it to nail Taylor in the back. Swann does the same with a chair, but Taylor nails Swann, causing him to drop the chair, and tries to piledrive Swann on the chair. Swann blocks and hits an ax kick that drives Taylor's face down onto the chair, and then Swann sets the chair up in the middle of the ring as the homeless guy from last night gets on the apron to yell at Swann. Swann superkicks the homeless guy to the floor, but turns around and gets Boss Man Slammed onto the chair. Homeless Guy hands Taylor a leather strap that Taylor uses to whip Swann, apparently getting his wish after all, then sets up a chair in the middle of the ring and tries to plant Swann onto it with the Awful Waffle. Swann fights his way out of that one, and Taylor goes to the second rope but Swann gives him a Frankensteiner that drops Taylor right onto the chair. Swann with another chairshot and he hits the triple jump 450 for the win.
Winner: Rich Swann
Now THAT is how you do a no DQ match. This wasn't some garbage match where two guys just bring out a bunch of stupid weapons to grind each other into bits, this was a fight where each man hated the other so much that hurting their opponent was every bit as important as winning the match, and maybe a little more. Great way to blow off the Ronin angle.
Sami Callihan vs CIMA
Callihan takes CIMA to the corner and kicks him in the chest, CIMA, responds with one of his own, and they exchange several more kicks before going nose to nose in the middle of the ring where Callihan connects with a headbutt that sends CIMA careening into the corner. Callihan repeatedly stomps CIMA, who covers up as best he can, but CIMA pops up as soon as Callihan backs off, nailing him and delivering a lungblower. Now Callihan is down in the corner absorbing kicks from CIMA, who then snapmares Callihan and gets him in a leg nelson. CIMA rolls Callihan to his back in a leg cradle that gets 2, then CIMA snapmares Callihan again and slingshots himself in from the apron with a rolling senton for 2. CIMA goes for a surfboard, and Callihan tries to stop him by reaching back and fishhooking CIMA's mouth, but CIMA gets free of that and rolls Callihan up in the full surfboard. Callihan escapes by biting CIMA's hand, and they wind up trading blows in the middle of the ring until Callihan hits a bicycle kick and a Death Valley Driver. Callihan with a slingshot splash that gets 2, and CIMA rolls out to the apron to try and catch a breather. Callihan doesn't let up, knocking CIMA to the floor with a springboard forearm before taking him out with a dive through the ropes. Callihan whips CIMA into the guardrail, then charges in with a chop to the chest of CIMA, whom he rolls inside to cover for 2. Callihan gets CIMA in a standing Indian Deathlock, then rolls CIMA over for the Trailer Hitch version. CIMA tries to sit up to escape, so Callihan sits himself up and fishhooks CIMA's mouth again until CIMA get to the ropes. CIMA is hobbling around on the bad leg as Callihan picks him up for the slam against the ropes and covers for 2. CIMA slips out the back on a vertical suplex attempt and drills Callihan with a dropkick to the face before planting him with a Bizarro Driver that gets 2. Callihan charges CIMA in the corner, but CIMA leapfrogs Callihan and nails him, then hangs Callihan between the top and middle rope before charging in with a dropkick to Callihan's midsection. Callihan dodges a charge and CIMA drives his own knee into the top turnbuckle, and Callihan quickly applies his modified figure four right in the middle of the ring. CIMA reverses the hold, but Callihan reverses back and CIMA is forced to go to the ropes. Callihan gets a running clothesline in the corner, CIMA comes out with a superkick, but Callihan responds with another running clothesline and covers for 2. CIMA drops to a knee to block a powerbomb attempt, but Callihan bicycle kicks him in the face and hits the powerbomb on the second try. CIMA kicks out at 2, but Callihan uses the momentum of the kickout to fold CIMA right into the stretch muffler. CIMA won't tap, so Callihan scissors the body. CIMA still struggles for the ropes so Callihan gets to his feet to really crank on the hold, but CIMA still has the willpower to keep going and finally makes the ropes. Callihan picks CIMA up by the leg and catches an enziguiri from CIMA, who then folds Callihan over with a bridging cradle suplex for 2. CIMA hangs Callihan in the Tree of Woe, then goes to the top rope and hits a Van Terminator, then picks Callihan up and hits the Schwein. Callihan somehow kicks out at 2, so CIMA goes up top for Meteora and connects for the win.
Winner: CIMA
If you put aside the fact that CIMA beat Callihan with a top rope double kneedrop after Callihan spent the whole match destroying CIMA's knee, this was a really good match. Ricochet comes out with a microphone and says that after all they'd been through together and after CIMA got involved in his match with AR Fox on Friday, all he wants to say to CIMA is to stay out of his business.
Genki Horiguchi & Ryo Saito vs El Generico & Samuray Del Sol
Generico and Saito start us off, and they shake hands before we get underway. They do a feeling out process in the middle of the ring to start us off, then go to the mat before winding up at a stalemate. They do a fast paced sequence of takedowns and escapes, and again wind up at a stalemate. Del Sol and Horiguchi come in, and they have a similarly fast paced exchange of armdrags, and this time Del Sol gets the advantage and tags out to Generico, who begins working Horiguchi over with some hard shots before yanking on Horiguchi's dreadlocks. Horiguchi scurries to safety and tags in Saito, who bodyslams Generico hard in the middle of the ring before walking over his face and dropping an elbow for 2. Now Generico's in the wrong part of town, but he quickly gets out of Dodge, escaping an abdominal stretch by pulling on Horiguchi's dreads and tagging out to Del Sol, who slingshots over the top rope with a 450 splash for 2. Del Sol with a snapmare and the indy kick to the back before tying Horiguchi up in a side angle version of the figure four. Horiguchi makes the ropes, so Generico tags in and gives Horiguchi a side backbreaker for 2 before tagging Del Sol in to give Horiguchi a taste of his own medicine with an abdominal stretch. Horiguchi powers out with a hiptoss, and Del Sol makes the mistake of slouching over the second rope where Horiguchi and Saito set up for their trick with the elastic band. Generico breaks it up and Horiguchi again takes the band to the face, but a quick cover by Del Sol only gets 2. Horiguchi catches Del Sol charging in with a big back bodydrop, then Saito comes in and drills Del Sol with a back elbow for 2. Saito with a trio of snap fisherman's suplexes, but only gets 2 on Del Sol. Horiguchi and Saito hit a series of high impact double team on Del Sol, but they only get 2 so Saito knocks Generico off the apron with a charging elbow and then comes off the top rope with a double stomp square in the breadbasket of Del Sol. Lazy cover by Saito allows Del Sol to kick out at 2, but an attempted double team on Del Sol results in Del Sol giving them a double armdrag and then wiping both men out with a Lionsault. Del Sol makes the tag, and Generico comes in like a man possessed, suplexing Horiguchi into the corner as Del Sol dropkicks Saito to the floor before wiping him out with a somersault dive. Horiguchi blocks a suplex, but Generico keeps ahold of him and converts the suplex into a Blue Thunder Driver for 2. Generico charges into the corner for the Yakuza kick, but Horiguchi gets the boot up and plants Generico with a tornado DDT for 2. Saito and Del Sol get back in the ring and Del Sol tries another Lionsault, but Saito sees him coming this time and catches him in midair, and uses Del Sol's momentum to plant him with a German suplex. That was an awesome spot. Saito dodges a Yakuza kick from Generico, but Del Sol shoves him into a second kick from Generico and then Generico monkey flips Del Sol into a 450 on Saito for 2. Generico and Horiguchi trade chops in the middle of the ring, but Horiguchi takes Generico out of the equation with a flying headscissors before sunset flipping Saito to give more momentum to a German suplex on Generico. Saito follows that up with another suplex for 2, but Del Sol comes in and kicks Saito out to the floor as Horiguchi backslides Generico for 2. Generico powders out to fight Saito on the floor as Del Sol hits the inverted Frankensteiner on Horiguchi for the win.
Winners: El Generico & Samuray Del Sol
Another great match, and Generico and Del Sol showed as much chemsitry as a team as they did as opponents. I was a bit surprised to see them get the win, but it looks like we've got a lot of players in the tag division coming out of this weekend since nobody came out of it as the clearly superior duo.
Open The Freedom Gate Title Match, Elimination Rules: Johnny Gargano vs Ricochet vs AR Fox vs Akira Tozawa
Jon Davis comes out to the ring during introductions and pulls Gargano out to ringside and repeatedly rams his back into the ring apron, leaving Gargano in a heap once again and now putting his reign as the Open The Freedom Gate Champion in jeopardy. The referee goes out to ringside to check on Gargano, but makes the decision to ring the bell and it looks like the match is going to go on without Gargano. Tozawa and Ricochet double team Fox and give him a double suplex, then they take turns putting the boots to him as Gargano is still down on the outside. Well, I'm sure he'll find his way into the ring eventually. Fox slams Ricochet and hits a split legged twisting senton for 2. Another referee is checking on Gargano as Tozawa nails Fox to prevent him from suplexing Ricochet, but Fox fights his way out and hits a running clothesline in the corner, Tozawa dumps Fox on his butt, and Ricochet gets a Zig Zag on Tozawa before laying some kicks into the chest of Fox. Ricochet stomps on the knee Fox injured on Friday night before ramming Tozawa into the corner, then does the same to Fox. Ricochet ping pongs back and forth with charging clotheslines in the corner on Fox and Tozawa before snapamring Tozawa and kicking him in the head. Ricochet takes a break to go to the corner and yell at Gargano to get up, then leaves to sit in with the announcers and tell the fans watching the iPPV that Gargano isn't really hurt and that the other guys aren't on his level. Ricochet goes back to the ring and goes to the top rope, but Gargano pops up on the apron and shoves Ricochet off the top rope, spears Tozawa through the ropes, and backdrops Fox to the floor. ricochet kicks Gargano in the back from the apron, Tozawa boots him, and Fox gets a moonsault for 2. Ricochet hits Gargano with a shooting star press, Fox pulls him out to the floor before he can get the three count, and Tozawa covers for 2 of his own before choking Gargano in the corner with his boot. Ricochet and Fox are brawling out on the floor as Tozawa continues working over in the corner, and Ricochet rams Fox into the ringpost as Tozawa pulls Gargano's t-shirt off and whips him with it. Gargano's midsection is bandaged up as Tozawa Kobashi chops him in the corner, then does the same to Ricochet and Fox when they charge in. Tozawa then jabs Fox and Ricochet in the jaw, but Gargano connects with a jab of his own to Tozawa, and everyone goes down. Fox goes for a springboard something from the apron, Gargano dropkicks Fox onto Ricochet's shoulders, then he dives through the ropes with a spear that sends Fox and himself into the crowd, and then Tozawa hits a dive of his own. All four men are in a bad way on the floor, and Fox makes it even worse by wiping everyone out with a kick flip off a nearby pillar. Ricochet springboards back into the ring with a clothesline on Tozawa, then slams him in the corner and goes to the top rope, but Gargano shoves Ricochet to the floor as Fox hits Rolling Thunder on Tozawa. Gargano goes out to the apron and slingshots in with a DDT on Fox, then makes a cover and gets a very close 2. Gargano runs into a big boot from Fox, who follows up with a twisting enziguiri, and then everyone else hits big bombs on one another until all four men are down again. Gargano somehow gets to his feet first, and he sits Tozawa on the top turnbuckle to go for a superplex, but Ricochet shoves Gargano off to go after Tozawa himself. They fight it out on the top rope until Gargano and Fox go up as well for a Tower of Doom spot. Fox covers Gargano but only gets 2, then hits Sliced Bread #2 on Gargano and a springboard Codebreaker on Ricochet gets 2. Fox picks Gargano up in a fireman's carry, Gargano slips out and goes for the lawn dart, Fox escapes that and springboards out of the corner with an Ace Crusher for 2. Ricochet charges in with an IED in the corner on Gargano, but Gargano kicks him off on a standing moonsault attempt as Fox hits a springboard 450 on Gargano for 2. Fox cannonballs Tozawa in the corner and then goes for the rebound Spanish Fly, but Tozawa catches him with a German suplex, and Ricochet comes off the top with a 450 splash on the bridging Tozawa, but still only gets 2. Ricochet starts attacking the bad knee of Fox and dropkicks him out to the floor, but Tozawa enziguiris Ricochet from the floor, then tries to suplex Gargano on the apron. Ricochet dives over Tozawa and Gargano to take out Fox as Tozawa and Gargano take it back inside, with Tozawa taking Gargano out with a running kneestrike. Ricochet takes Fox over to a ladder he found by the back of the building, hangs Fox from it Tree of Woe style, and hits him in the knee with a chair before dragging him back to the ring. Ricochet rolls Fox into the ring and covers for 2, then starts slapping Fox around before whipping Fox across the ring. Fox's knee give out halfway across the ring, so Ricochet waits for Fox to get to his feet and charges him, Fox gets his boot up and comes off the second rope, but Ricochet catches him on the way down and gets a Texas Cloverleaf. Fox tries to get to the ropes, but Ricochet drags him back out to the middle of the ring and starts punching Fox in the knee while keeping the hold, and Fox finally is forced to tap out and we have our first elimination.
AR Fox is eliminated.
We're down to three men, and Gargano tears the bandages off his midsection as they all go face to face. They all take turns punching each other until Tozawa and Ricochet finally have enough and double team Gargano. Ricochet hits a 619 from the outside and Tozawa hits a Saito suplex for 2. Tozawa distracts the referee while Ricochet chokes Gargano with his own bandages, then they take turns with rapid fire kicks to the injured midsection of Gargano, who still somehow kicks out of a pin attempt by Tozawa. Gargano ducks a double clothesline attempt, Ricochet tries to backslide him, but Gargano turns around as Tozawa comes in with a bicycle kick and Ricochet takes the brunt of the move. Gargano lays both challengers out with a DDT/Flatliner combo, then he tries to suplex Tozawa into the corner but Tozawa blocks and drills him with a forearm, and Gargano gets the suplex on a second attempt. Gargano charges across the ring at Ricochet but now he gets suplexed into the corner, hitting even harder than Tozawa, but he dodges a Phoenix splash from Ricochet, who lands on his feet and takes both Gargano and Tozawa out with a double Pelle kick. He lays both opponents right next to each other and hits them both with a Phoenix splash, but they both kick out at 2. Ricochet drags Gargano to the corner for yet another high risk move, but Gargano gets to his feet and blocks Ricochet long enough for Tozawa to pop up and German suplex Ricochet off the top rope. Gargano hits Ricochet with Hertz Donut and then Tozawa plants Ricochet with a bridging German suplex, and Ricochet is out.
Ricochet is eliminated.
Both men are exhausted and have trouble getting to their feet, but they slowly get up and go nose to nose in the middle of the ring. Gargano dodges a bicycle kick, Tozawa dodges a superkick, and Gargano fires a flurry of forearms at Tozawa before lawn darting him into the second turnbuckle. Gargano with a kick to the head and a deep cradle, but Tozawa is out at 2. Tozawa rolls through the Gargano escape and hits a pair of German suplexes, Gargano superkicks Tozawa, and Tozawa doesn't seem to notice as he comes right back in with a bridging German that Gargano still somehow kicks out of at 2. Tozawa goes for the straitjacket suplex, but Gargano blocks by holding the ropes, so Tozawa bicycle kicks him in the back of the head, and Gargano hangs Tozawa off the second rope for a modified Hertz Donut, then hits a conventional version, and Tozawa still kicks out at 2. Gargano gets the Gargano Escape on Tozawa right in the middle of the ring, Tozawa goes for the ropes, Gargano drags Tozawa back out to the middle of the ring and Tozawa gets a small package, Gargano kicks out at 2 and drags Tozawa back out to the middle of the ring and reapplies the Gargano Escape, and Tozawa finally taps out.
Winner: Johnny Gargano
This match was absolutely amazing. It told several great stories with Gargano getting jumped by Jon Davis before the match, Ricochet taking every shortcut possible before losing anyway, Fox hanging with the big boys even though he was the underdog, and Gargano fighting the odds and beating his three toughest opponents to walk away with the title still around his waist. This was a grueling match where everyone left it all in the ring, and I'd say this could have been the best match ever in Dragon Gate USA. Yes, it was that good.
Gargano tries to shake Tozawa's hand, but Tozawa just rolls out of the ring and leaves. Gargano says this was an amazing show, but he thanks the fans for coming out in spite of all the damage caused by the hurricane, and he speaks for everyone in the locker room when he says how grateful they all are for being able to work in front of the greatest wrestling fans in the world. He says they're doing an EVOLVE show in December, then Dragon Gate USA will be back in the new year, but this show was special for him because it's been a year since he became the first American to win the Open The Freedom Gate Title, and he's defended the title all over the world, and can guarantee that he'll always give the fans 110% because as long as his heart is still beating, the title is going nowhere.
In case you couldn't figure out after reading this report, I loved this show. It really did feel like a blowoff show where all the big storylines that had been building all year came to a climax with all the right people going over th send the fans home happy. This was easily the best show of the weekend, and one I highly recommend you buy the replay of.
2012 - WWE ran London, England. Jason Howling filed the following live report:
Here are a couple of pre-show notes.
The arena was advertising the TNA shows outside the building.
They had WWE '13 booths dotted around to play the game which does seem pretty good. They had limited merch which only included John Cena, R-Truth, Dolph Ziggler, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, The Miz, Zack Ryder & Randy Orton.
The voting match was the divas match which was Eve vs. Layla. We had to vote if we wanted a Triple Threat with AJ in.
The first match was Santino Marella and Brodus Clay vs. Epico & Primo
This was the typical comedy match which warmed the crowed up very well and as expected Santino and Clay won.
Next we had a Dolph Ziggler promo where they lost the video feed.
Tensai vs. Michael McGillicutty.
A very okay match that had McGillicutty fight as the underdog and won by Roll-Up. Man it goes to show how far Tensai has fallen.
New we had the Divas championship match and of course AJ was voted in. An okay match for the first Divas match I've seen in a couple of months. They did a false finish similar to the Raw report where AJ won (huge pop) but the match was restarted by Vikki and Eve took the win with a Roll Up.
Next up and semi main event was Dolph vs. Cena.
Solid match where Dolph worked over Cena most of the way. Dolph did a great HBK spot (Tuning up the band) but missed. The ref got knocked out and Vickie ran back in and then she chickened out after AJ ran in! Her and Cena had a moment and then hit Dolph with the briefcase and the ref came to and Cena hit the FU for the win!
Ryder vs. Cesaro.
Best Wrestling match on the card. Some great moments and the crowed was well behind Ryder. Cesaro got the win.
