11/3 THIS DAY IN HISTORY: JESSE VENTURA SHOCKS THE WORLD, ROODE CAPTURES TNA TITLE AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2012-11-03 08:00:31

On This Day in History in ....

1939 - Steve Casey defeats Ed Don George for the American Wrestling Association World Heavyweight Title in Buffalo, New York, ending George's third and final reign with the belt, and starting Casey's third reign.

1981 - The Spoiler defeats Charlie Cook for the Florida State Heavyweight Title in Tampa, ending Cook's second reign, and starting the third and final reign for the Spoiler. The Spoiler had last held the title over three years earlier.

1997 - The Monday Night Wars continued, with WCW Monday Nitro on TNT doing a 4.0 rating to WWF's 2.6 for Monday Night Raw on USA. The interesting story of the night was Perry Saturn making his Nitro debut and defeating Disco Inferno via submission to win the WCW Television Title. Saturn, who had just recovered from a broken leg, made the jump from ECW, breaking up The Eliminators tag team with John Kronus.

Here are the results from Raw that night: Mr. Aguila (Essa Rios) defeated Super Loco (Super Crazy). ... Kane defeated Ahmed Johnson. ...Marc Mero defeated Savio Vega. ...Vader defeated Davey Boy Smith in a Dog Collar match. ... The New Age Outlaws defeated Los Boriquas. ... Ken Shamrock defeated European Champion Shawn Michaels via disqualification.

Here are the results from Nitro: Eddie Guerrero & Dean Malenko defeated Rey Mysterio Jr. & Steven Regal when Malenko forced Mysterio to tap out to the Texas Cloverleaf. ...Dave Finlay pinned David Taylor with a tombstone piledriver. ...Yuji Nagata defeated Psychosis with the Nagata Lock...Perry Saturn defeated Disco Inferno to win the World Television Title with the Rings Of Saturn. ... Chris Jericho pinned Scott Hall with a cradle. Hall was going for the Outsider's Edge and yelling at announcer Larry Zbyszko when Jericho floated over him for the pin. ...The Giant interfered and cleared out a Lucha Libre battle royal. ... Ric Flair defeated Alex Wright with a figure four leglock. ... Ray Traylor pinned Steve McMichael with a side slam. ...WCW World Tag Team Champions The Steiner Brothers defeated Public Enemy in a Philly Street Fight when Scott pinned Rocco Rock after he missed Rick Steiner while trying to put him through a table. ... Lex Luger defeated Curt Hennig by disqualification when Ric Flair interfered.

1998 - Jesse "The Body" Ventura, running as an Independent candidate on the Reform Party ticket, defeats Democrat Hubert Humphrey III and Republican Norm Coleman to become the Governor of Minnesota. Ventura, who would later change his nickname to "The Mind" made headlines nationwide with his victory, telling supporters "We shocked the world."

1998 - During a Raw taping at Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas, Mankind makes the first defense of the WWF Hardcore Title by pinning Ken Shamrock on the rampway after help from Vince McMahon, Big Bossman, Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson. Also on the taping, William Regal defeated Golga of the Oddities and during the match unmasked him, revealing John Tenta. However, the unmasking was accidental, so the match never aired on the show.

2007 - World Wrestling Entertainment announced that long-time WWF Women's champion The Fabulous Moolah (Lillian Ellison) passed away. She was 84 years old.  A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Moolah was Women's Champion nine times, including the period before it was a WWE Title and "forgotten" switchesont> not acknowledged in official WWE history books.  She may be best remembered for having the longest running championship reign (publicized as 28 years, although in truth, there were back-and-forth switches during that reign) of any champion ever in professional wrestling history and maintained a close relationship with the McMahon family through the years.  Moolah was the driving force of women's wrestling, training many of the competitors in the sport, for several decades.

2009 - WWE broadcast ECW.   Richard Trionfo filed the following live report:

We start off with a look at last week’s match between Christian and Yoshi Tatsu for the ECW Title where Christian retained, only to be attacked after the match by Emperor Regal and his Imperial Troops.

We are live on tape from Providence, Rhode Island and your announcers are Josh ‘Where is a Krispy Kreme when you need one’ Mathews and Byron ‘I can see Massachusetts from my hotel room window’ Saxton.

Christian comes to the ring and he has something to say. He says that after living through it last week and seeing the footage again, he wants William Regal in the ring right now. Christian says that he knows Regal is back there. If Regal doesn’t want to come out, then he will go after Regal.

Instead of Regal, Tiffany comes out to the ring. Tiffany says that she knows that Regal is upset and he deserves to be. Regal acted the way he did because she wouldn’t give him a title match. Christian says that Regal has disrespected Tiffany, the fans, and him and he is done with it. Tiffany tells Christian that is how Regal wanted things to go. Christian does not care.

The Imperial March plays and Regal comes out with his red clad guards. Regal says that he has the advantage over Christian. He wonders how badly Christian wants him in the ring. He asks if he will give him a title match. Christian wants a match now.

Tiffany says that they each have matches so they will have to wait. Christian does not care because this is where he won his first ECW title and he is ready to defend it in front of his peeps. Tiffany asks Regal if he accepts the challenge. Regal thinks about it and says no. Regal says that he is the one in control and if Christian is offering a title match, it will only be on his terms. Christian wants to know the terms. Regal wants the match to be next week in front of a deserving crowd, not in front of the cretins in Providence. Regal wants the match in England. Christian says that he will see Bill in England. Tiffany makes the match official, but under one condition. Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov are banned from ringside. Tiffany tells Regal that he is wrestling next.

Christian with a baseball slide to Regal as Regal enters the ring. We go to commercial.

Match Number One: William Regal versus Goldust

They lock up and Regal backs Goldust into the ropes and Regal pushes Goldust but Goldust punches back. Regal and Goldust with punches but Goldust with the advantage and he punches Regal. Regal goes to the floor and Goldust meets him with a punch. They return to the ring and Goldust with more punches. Regal throws Goldust to the floor but Goldust pulls Regal out and Goldust with more punches and then he slams Regal’s head into the apron. Regal misses a forearm and Goldust with an atomic drop. Goldust with punches in the corner. Regal with a kick and then he sends Goldust into the turnbuckles and he connects with forearms. Regal with a forearm to the head after an Irish whip. Regal gets a near fall. Regal with a rear chin lock on Goldust. Goldust gets back to his feet and he punches Regal. Goldust with the drop down uppercut and more punches followed by clotheslines. Goldust with a punch and Irish whip but he walks into a boot. Goldust with a power slam for a near fall. Goldust with a bulldog to Regal but he misses a charge into the corner and Regal with a running knee to the side of the head for the three count.
Winner: William Regal

Zack Ryder is in the back checking on his hair and Rosa Mendes stops by and she introduces herself to him and points out that she is the ring announcer for Zack’s match. Zack daydreams while Rosa talks and then he has an accident with his drink. We go to commercial.

We are back and did you know that people look at a lot of WWE photos.

Match Number Two: Zack Ryder versus Shelton Benjamin with Guest Ring Announcer Rosa Mendes

They lock up and Benjamin with a take down and waist lock into a side head lock. Benjamin with a shoulder tackle and Zack goes to the floor on an Irish whip. Zack makes his way over to Rosa but he turns around and sees Shelton. Zack returns to the ring and then he drops kicks Shelton to the floor. They return to the ring and Ryder with a kick to Benjamin and a near fall. Ryder sends Benjamin into the corner and he follows that with a face wash for a near fall. Ryder with a reverse chin lock. Ryder runs Benjamin into the corner but Benjamin with a punch. Both men exchange punches until Benjamin gets the advantage and then he hits a back body drop. Benjamin with the Stinger Splash but Ryder with a forearm. Benjamin with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Ryder goes to the floor and Ryder brings Benjamin back in but Benjamin lands on his feet while Ryder watches Rosa apply some make up. Benjamin hits Paydirt for the three count.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin

We go to commercial.

We are back and Paul Burchill and Katie Lea are in the ring. Paul mentions that he told Gregory Helms a week ago to have the Hurricane come to the ring about a proposal that will end everything.

Hurricane finally makes his way to the ring and he has his Hurri-Cane with him. Hurricane says that he is here for Burchill. Paul tells Hurricane that Halloween is over. Hurricane says that for some Halloween lasts all year long and he suggests that Paul ask his sister. Paul says that he has had enough Hurricane’s lip. Hurricane says that he has had enough with citizen Burchill. Burchill says that Hurricane is a fraud and he has duped the fans. Paul says that he has great family values but the fans look up to Hurricane. Hurricane says that maybe it is because the fans just want to have fun, just like him. Maybe they like to fly. Hurricane says that chicks dig superheroes. Burchill says that this is not funny time. In order to finish this once and for all, he suggests one more match. If Burchill wins, Hurricane unmasks and reveals the fraud that he is. If Hurricane wins, he will leave along with Katie. Hurricane says that in brightest day and blackest night, Hurricane will never back down from a fight. He says that the match is on.

Abraham Washington is walking in the back with Tony Atlas and he is complaining about what William Regal did last week. Abe says that he is going to get Tiffany to buy him a new set. Abe talks about the new set that he is going to get for the Abraham Washington Show. Abe knocks on Tiffany’s office door and Vance Archer leaves. Abe asks who that was and Tiffany says that is ECW’s newest Superstar Vance Archer and he is . . . intense.

We go to commercial.

We are back with the Raw Rebound.

Match Number Three: Vance Archer versus Logan Jones

They lock up and Archer sends Jones to the floor. Archer with a kick to Jones as he re-enters the ring. Archer with a belly-to-belly suplex followed by an inverted DDT for a three count.
Winner: Vance Archer

Christian and Yoshi Tatsu are walking in the back as we go to commercial.

Match Number Four: Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov versus Christian and Yoshi Tatsu

Yoshi and Jackson start things off. They lock up and Jackson sends Yoshi down to the mat. Yoshi with a series of kicks and two drop kicks but Jackson powers out of a cover. Kozlov tags in and Yoshi with a kick to the leg. Yoshi with another kick and he avoids a kick from Kozlov. Yoshi with a back kick and side head lock. Kozlov throws Yoshi away but he lands on his feet. Yoshi with a kick but Kozlov with a head butt and then he sends Yoshi into the turnbuckle and he tags in Jackson who gets a near fall after a slam. Jackson with a knee to the head. Jackson with a double underhook and then he connects with a forearm and tags in Kozlov. Kozlov with shoulders in the corner and then he chokes Yoshi in the corner. Kozlov with a head butt to the chest followed by a belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Jackson tags back in and he punches Yoshi in the ribs. Jackson with a double over hook followed by a forearm to the back. Jackson with an Irish whip but Jackson misses a charge into the corner and Yoshi makes his way to the corner to make the tag and he is able to do so. Christian with punches to Kozlov and a kick followed by the corkscrew back elbow from the turnbuckles. Christian with a baseball slide to Jackson on the apron. Christian goes up top but Kozlov with a press slam. Kozlov gets Christian up for a back breaker but Christian escapes and he hits an inverted DDT for a near fall. All four men are in the ring and Yoshi and Christian take care of Jackson and then Yoshi with a pescado. Kozlov with a fallaway slam on Christian but Christian moves on a charge into the corner. Christian with a Tornado DDT and Christian sets for the Killswitch and hits it for the three count.
Winners: Christian and Yoshi Tatsu

AAfter the match, Regal tries to Pearl Harbor Christian but Christian sees it coming and he punches Regal. Jackson attacks Christian from behind and then they pull Christian into the ring post and then they stretch Christian against the ring post. Regal puts Christian in the Regal stretch on the floor and Yoshi Tatsu is laying behind the action.

2009 - TNA taped Impact in Orlando, FL with the following results:

Before the tapings started, Alyssa Flash defeated Traci Brooks by submission. After the match, Traci attacked Alyssa.

Impact starts with Mick Foley coming out for the match between Abyss and Stevie Richards. After a Black Hole Slam, the lights went out. When the lights came back on, Abyss was laid out and Richards got the win. Richards went to put a chair around Abyss' throat but Foley attacked Richards to stop him. The lights went out again and a fireball was thrown in Foley's face. The lights go back on and it was Raven who threw the fireball. He hits a Raven Effect and then posed with Daffney and Stevie. /p>

Jim Neidhart defeated Jay Lethal with a running power slam. (from JP: Yes, you read that right)

Kurt Angle comes out in a suit to a large ovation. He calls Turning Point the most important night of his life. He puts over A.J. Styles and Matt Morgan. Kurt says that he has no respect for someone who comes in and attacks him. He says that Desmond has earned nothing and Angle says that he will terminate Desmond's wrestling career. Desmond appears on the screen and Desmond says that he is here to take Angle's place. Wolfe comes through the crowd and that leads to a brawl between Angle and Wolfe. Desmond hits a DDT on the floor.

They introduce Super Dave Osborne and he is at the announce table with Mike Tenay and Taz. (Editor Note: I guess if WWE can get Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, TNA can get Super Dave Osborne. I wonder if they tried to get Dave's brother. According to Mike, Super Dave has a show on SpikeTV which debuts on November 14th.)

Motor City Machine Guns and TNA X Division Champion Amazing Red defeated Homicide, Sheik Abdul Bashir, and Kiyoshi. Homicide tried to bring in a barbed wire baseball bat, but security stopped Homicide and carried him out. Machine Guns pinned Bashir.

After the match, Super Dave Osborne left the announce table.

Team 3D come out with Rhino. They talk about choice with TNA based on something that Dixie Carter said about whether you were on board or not. He says that they are glad that they turned because they are getting lots of heat. Matt Morgan and Hernandez come out. Ray says that he has spilled more DNA in TNA than Morgan has in his body. Ray calls Hernandez a Mexican without a green card. A six man street fight is announced for Turning Point and Ray asks Morgan and Hernandez if they have a partner. Morgan says that they do not need a partner. Devon says that that if they are the future of TNA, then TNA will be no more. D'Angelo Dinero comes out and he says that he will be the third member of the team and then he runs down Team 3D.

Beer Money defeated The British Invasion in a Non-Title Match to earn a spot in the tag title match at Turning Point. If the British Invasion were disqualified or counted out in this match, Beer Money would be added to the match. Rob Terry came out with a chair but Doug Williams told Rob to go back. Magnus almost used the chair but Williams stopped him as well. Beer Money was able to get the win with a DWI on Magnus.

Samoa Joe defeated A.J. Styles in a Non-Title match after Styles passed out in the Choke. Daniels came out during the match and accidentally knocked A.J. off balance. Styles hit Daniels leading to Joe putting Styles in the choke. After the match, Joe posed with the belt.

For Xplosion:
Rob Terry defeated Kip James.

2010 - During an interview with AOL Fanhouse, Ken Anderson noted that TNA had banned chairshots to the head, commenting, "TNA has absolutely thrown down the gauntlet and said no more unprotected chair shots. And every time there is a chair involved in the ring, the agents will come up and say please make sure for me that you are not going to ... that you're going to put your hand up. Please tell me you're going to put your hand up or it's going to be a back shot or something like that."

2011 - Bobby Roode captured the TNA championship during a broadcast of Impact Wrestling.  Stu Carapola filed the following TV report:

We take a look back at James Storm discussing what it means to be the World Champion and Bobby Roode's win over Samoa Joe last week to earn a title shot on tonight's episode of Impact Wrestling, and then we're off to Macon, Georgia for our opening promo with World Champion James Storm. He talks about how growing up in the South was good for learning stuff about being a man and treating everybody with respect no matter what walk of life they come from. In the SOUTH?!?! Anyway, he also learned how to open doors for ladies (which gets the crowd chanting USA), and last night he was sitting around getting liquored up thinking about what he wants on his tombstone, and now he can add World Champion to the other stuff he came up with. Anyway, all these life experiences brought him here to Macon and the one man who's been by his side the whole time has been his tag partner Bobby Roode, who now joins Storm in the ring. Big chant for Roode, who gives Storm his "I'm going to turn heel on you tonight" smile, but an oblivious Storm says that Roode got screwed at Bound For Glory and promised him the first shot at the title, but also promised his little girl he'd bring the belt home so she could wear it at Chuck E. Cheese. Roode says he owes Storm for all the success he's had because they were both struggling as singles wrestlers, but became an overnight success as a team and one of the greatest teams in the history of the business. Storm came up with the names, the merch ideas, and brought something out of Roode he couldn't bring out on his own. Roode was the happiest man on the planet when Storm beat Kurt Angle, but he's got another opportunity tonight and he's damn sure going to bring it because he knows Storm will. Roode wants to do what they've been doing for four years, and that's steal the show and blow the roof off this son of a bitch (I assume he means the arena), and whoever walks out with the title will be the better man.

Tonight, Jeff Jarrett & Bully Ray face Ken Anderson and Jeff Hardy (who gave Anderson a concussion and put him on the shelf for two months, but never mind that), and Ronnie from Jersey Shore will be here! Aren't you just dying with excitement?

Let's head to the ring for our opening match...

Knockouts Tag Team Title Match: Tara & Brooke Tessmacher vs Madison Rayne & Gail Kim

Karen Jarrett is still, inexplicably, in charge of the Knockouts division even though Immortal no longer holds any power in the company. Tara and Brooke's outfits really bring out the patriotic spirit in me, I must say. Madison and Tessmacher start us off, and Brooke and Tara tag in and out while cranking on Madison's arm. They give Madison a double gourdbuster, but Madison goes and tags out to Gail, who destroyed Tara last week, but Tara gets some revenge by unloading on her with clotheslines and a BAAAAAAAAAAAAACK BODYDROP. Madison tags back in, but Brooke again dominates her with clotheslines, and Gail yanks her off by the hair before she can do the stinkface. Gail with a hanging neckbreaker and then goes to a Dragon sleeper, then just palmstrikes Brooke in the face. I love the sadism, but easy on the face there. Brooke gets away and makes the hot tag to Tara, and she makes the moron move of turning her back to Tara to do the ass shaking standing moonsault and Gail blindsides her, but Brooke spears Gail out to the floor. Tara hits the Widow's Peak, but Karen Jarrett jumps up on the apron and distracts the referee while Gail Kim come in and hits Tara with Sole Food, allowing Madison to crawl over and pin Tara.

Winners and NEW Knockouts Tag Team Champions: Gail Kim & Madison Rayne

Gail Kim is already a champion all of two weeks after returning to TV. Good for her!

Our newest main eventer, Garrett Bischoff, says that he knows his dad wants an apology, so he's going to go out there and apologize to his dad tonight. YAY!

Garrett Bischoff comes out to agonize over the situation with his dad, and he wants his dad to come out so he can apologize face to face. Easy E comes out with his "I knew all those beatings as a kid would do him right" face on as we prepare to advance our top storyline. Garrett tells the old man he's sorry he didn't live up to his expectations and let him down at Bound For Glory, and he's really, REALLY sorry he didn't grow into the man he wanted him to be. (to which Eric replies "There's always hope") Garrett says the thing he's really sorry about is that he didn't do this years ago, and he suckerpunches his dad and drills him in the face until Ric Flair and Gunner come running out to make the save. Garrett looks really pleased with himself as hebacks up the ramp and his dad yells "HOW DARE YOU, YOU SON OF A BITCH?" I assume he's not referring to himself.

Samoa Joe comes up to Sting backstage and asks if he needs help with anything, then says he wants to show his appreciation for the shot he got last week. Sting says he's welcome, but Joe says if he doesn't get the respect he deserves, people around here have a way of getting hurt, and asks if Sting understands him. Sting says he's got it and Joe leaves, and then Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair come up to Sting and says they made sure to have ironclad contracts so Sting couldn't fire them, so now they want Garrett in the ring for a match and says that he'll give him the right to rewrite his contract if he does. Sting proves himself the best wrestling administrator ever when he says he'll talk it over with Garrett before making a decision.

Christopher Daniels is walking around backstage raving about his wins over AJ Styles that never happened and reiterates the trickery AJ tried using, and says that he won because he walked out and AJ didn't. He wants shots at the TV Title and World Title (yes, really), and says he even beat RVD last week. RVD walks up behind him looking really pissed off as Daniels denies needing a screwdriver to beat Bob Van Dam, and then Daniels turns around and Bob kicks his ass until Daniels turns tail and runs, and RVD says he'll see him at Turning Point.

Time for our next match...

X Division Champion Austin Aries vs Jesse Sorensen

I don't believe the title is on the line here. Sorensen gets a series of quick rollups for 2 counts early on as Kid Kash joins Mike Tenay and Taz on commentary, and he's sick of that little punk Jesse Sorensen being in his dressing room and ring. Aries suckerpunches Sorensen and sends him to the ropes for a crushing back elbow and then comes off the ropes for a high impact leaping elbowdrop for 2. Aries sets for the brainbuster but gets backdropped to the floor, Sorensen goes for a slingshot dive to the floor, but Aries moves and Sorensen crashes hard, then Aries goes back into the ring and would have torn right through Sorensen with a high impact dive through the ropes if the guardrail didn't stop them. They go back in and Aries takes Sorensen down with a uranage and the power drive elbow gets him 2. Sorensen comes back with a pair of high knees and a dropkick for 2, but misses a dive off the ropes. Aries hits the kick to the head and the IED in the corner, but foregoes a brainbuster to hit a second IED as Kash yells at Aries to kick his face in. Aries goes for the brainbuster, but Sorensen small packages Aries and gets 3.

Winner: Jesse Sorensen

Yeah, so I guess the title wasn't on the line. Good match, and it actually told a good story where Sorensen kept making mistakes by trying to go for these big dives, but Aries got too cocky and Sorensen caught him. Aries meets Kash on his way to the back and they head off together to plan their revenge on Sorensen.

Robbie E and Rob Terry are backstage, and they're...WALKING!

James Storm and Bobby Roode are backstage talking about how they hate to fight each other, but the World Title means that much to them, then we go out to the ring where Robbie E and Rob Terry come out and tell Ronnie to come out and face them, bro. Ronnie comes out with the TV Title around his waist and Eric Young, who has the Global Title on him (or the other way around, I don't really care). Robbie doesn't know why Ronnie is hanging out with Eric Young, but he's waited a long time to come face to face with him. He wants to tell him his show sucks and (he hides behind Rob Terry for this one) that Ronnie sucks. He's not afraid because he's taken out bigger and badder guys than him, and he can kick his ass anytime he wants. Ronnie says how about right now, but Robbie says no deal and tells Ronnie to pack his bag and get out of here before he punches him out like the Situation did. Ronnie spears Robbie E, but Rob Terry nails him and then lays Young out. Terry holds Ronnie in a front facelock and Robbie pulls his shirt up so he can whip him with his belt. They clear out, and Eric Young says it's weird and uncalled for that Robbie whipped Ronnie with his belt, but they're big TV stars, so after he clears it with Sting, it'll be Eric Young and Ronnie against Robbie E and Rob Terry next week. They really don't want me to come back after tonight, do they? And before you try and sell me on Ronnie's star power being a big deal for Impact, please email me if ANYBODY you know says "Hey, I gotta check out this Impact Wrestling show...they're going to have Ronnie from Jersey Shore on!"

Time for some more WRESTLING!

Bully Ray & Jeff Jarrett vs Jeff Hardy & Ken Anderson

Okay, so Jeff Jarrett is apparently a member of Immortal this week. Hardy and Bubba start us off and Bubba immediately starts unloading with that hard hitting offense, but Hardy catches him with a fliying headscissors, the double legdrop to the cajones, and a diving dropkick to the face. Bubba just socks him and tags Jarrett in, and he starts unloading on Hardy with right hands. Hardy with a spinning back kick and a clothesline, but Karen trips Hardy from the outside and Jarrett puts the boots to him. Bubba yells "come on, you friggin' drug addict!" at Hardy while putting the boots to him and then comes off the ropes with a splash for 2. Jarrett comes in for the Boss Man straddle on the second rope, but Hardy hits a back suplex and makes the hot tag. Anderson cleans house on Bubba and gets a rolling neckbreaker for 2, then Hardy springs off Anderson for Poetry In Motion on both opponents. Anderson and HArdy go up for dual Swantons, but Scott Steiner runs out and knocks Anderson off the ropes to cause a DQ.

Winners: Jeff Hardy & Ken Anderson by DQ

Steiner rams Hardy into the guardrail, then sends him into the ring where Bubba lays him out with his chain and then hits a Bubba Bomb on Anderson while Jarrett gives Hardy the Stroke.

Sting catches up with Garrett Bischoff backstage and presents Eric's request that Garrett get into the ring and face an opponent of his choosing so that if Garrett wins, Sting gets to rewrite his contract. When you actually lay it out like that, it actually sounds like a really stupid deal since Garrett stands to gain NOTHING by doing this. But this is Impact Wrestling, and nobody's allowed to have a brain here, so he says he'll do it and then, when Sting says "No, this was a bad idea, forget I said anything," Garrett begins actually begging Sting to let him fight an unnamed opponent for someone else's gain, so Sting says "Okay, you got it!" Who looks at this crap and think it will make for good TV? No wonder the rest of the world thinks wrestling fans are idiots.

Matt Morgan comes to the ring and calls Crimson out, and Morgan says they stood together against Samoa Joe, but now he gets hundreds of messages on Twitter asking him if he can beat Crimson. He's worked his ass off to become a main eventer in this company that he loves (until WWE comes along offering him a better contract), but he gets off on competition and wants to give the fans the dream match they're looking for: Crimson, the irresistible force, taking on Matt Morgan, the immovable object. Crimson says this has been blowing up his Twitter too, and he says his winnig streak can't be the real deal until he takes out everybody in his path, including Morgan. He's going to see Morgan's challenge and face him at Turning Point.

Another Storm-Roode video package, and then it's main event time!

World Title Match: James Storm vs Bobby Roode

They do some basic chain wrestling to start, but Roode catches Storm with a back elbow and a snapmare, but misses a kneedrop, Storm repeats the snapmare/kneedrop combo with the same result, they trade legsweeps, and nothing for either man. They trade wristlocks and Roode scores with an armdrag as we go to commercial.

We're back and Storm is ramming shoulders into Roode's ribs in the corner. They start chopping the hell out of each other and Roode snapmares Storm, but Storm dodges the Perfect Necksnap and Storm covers for 2. Storm with the Neverending Story clotheslines in the corner, but Roode runs him over with a hard running clothesline. Roode goes to the top rope and Storm nails him, then hits a big superplex and both men are down in the middle of the ring as the referee starts his count. They make it to their knees and start exchanging right hands, but Storm gets the momentum and takes Roode out with a series of clotheslines and a BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK BODYDROP. Roode boots Storm in the face and comes off the ropes with a Blockbuster for 2, he backdrops Storm to the apron but Storm hits an enziguiri and comes off the top rope with a flying bodypress, Roode rolls through but only gets 2. Storm counters the Perfectplex to a lungblower for 2. Storm goes for Eye Of The Storm, but Roode escapes and hits a spinebuster for 2. Storm clotheslines Roode and they both tumble over the top rope to the floor, but beat the count back in. Roode gets the Crippler Crossface out of nowhere and Storm almost taps out, but reaches for the ropes so Roode catches the other arm and gets the Rings of Saturn instead. Storm gets his foot over the bottom rope anyway to force the break, but Roode puts him on top for a superplex of his own. Storm blocks and gives Roode a top rope gourdbuster and then gets a flying elbow off the top for 2. Storm sets up for the superkick, but Roode blocks and goes for the Perfectplex, Storm blocks and the referee gets bumped to the floor. Storm hits an inverted lungblower to send Roode out to the floor as well where we see the referee clutching his knee in pain. Roode looks over at the stairs and sees Storm's beer bottle, probably thinking as I am that he could use a drink or two after tonight's episode of Impact. Instead, Storm comes over to grab Roode and Roode breaks the bottle over his head to knock him out and make the cover. The referee rolls back into the ring and somehow doesn't notice the shards of glass all over the mat and counts three, carefully avoiding slapping his hand on the broken glass he doesn't see.

Winner and NEW World Champion: Bobby Roode

Wow, Hogan and Bischoff sure swerved us! Roode spits on the broken form of James Storm and plants his foot in his chest as he holds the title belt up in victory. Can't wait to see next week after the awesome show I just watched! This show was absolutely atrocious, and consider yourself lucky if you didn't waste two hours of your life on it.
