COMPLETE LIST OF ROOKIES FOR NXT SEASON TWO

By Mike Johnson on 2010-06-01 22:05:43
As WWE announces the Pros and Rookies for the second "season" of NXT, we will run them down here:

*Husky Harris (WWE developmental talent Duke Rotunda), 23, is the son of Mike "IRS" Rotunda, the nephew of Barry and Kendall Windham and the grandson of WWE Hall of Famer Blackjack Mulligan, so he's got a great wrestling pedigree. Of late in FCW, he's been teaming with his brother Bo Rotunda (their ring names were derived from the Dukes of Hazard). His pro will be Cody Rhodes.

*Eli Cottonwood, 34, a seven foot talent who was signed by several basketball teams, including the Dallas Mavericks, although he never played professionally. He's been training in FCW since 2009. His Pro will be John Morrison.

*Percy Watson, who has been doing something of a "less nerdy Urkel" character in FCW. Before Darren Young was brought to NXT, he and Watson were a tag team in WWE developmental, thus why he was billed from "South Beach" on NXT. His Pro is MVP.

*Titus O'Neil, 33, is a former football player who played in a number of Bowl Games for the Florida Gators from the late '90s through either 2001 or 2002. He was a starter at Defensive End, and played in the NFL for the Jaguars, followed by several seasons in the Arena Leaguel for the Utah Blaze.    His Pro is Zack Ryder.  Yes, Zack Ryder, who will apparently fill the role that The Miz had on "Season One."

*Kaval, 29, is the former Low Ki from Brooklyn, NY who has been competing since 1998.  He was the very first Ring of Honor champion and has international experience working for Pro Wrestling NOAH and ZERO-ONE.  He had a number of runs with TNA under his Low Ki name and his Senshi persona, as a member of the Triple X tag team with Christopher Daniels and Elix Skipper, as well as runs with the X-Division championship.   He was initially trained by TNA star Homicide and meshes martial arts, hard hitting strikes and aerial moves in the style.  His Pros are, Layla El and Michelle McCool, who will become the first-ever female Pros on the series.  The obvious implication is putting the no nonsense Kaval and the snotty LayCool duo together in an oil and water situation.

*Lucky Cannon, who has been appearing in Florida Championship Wrestling as Johnny Prime, is a Florida native.    His backstory will be that he's lucky in life and has escaped several dangerous situations.  His Pro is Mark Henry.

*Michael McGillicuty (real name Joe Hennig), 31, is the son of the late "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig, which they acknowledged.  He was initially trained by former NWA World champion Harley Race.  He's been trying to emulate his father since being signed in 2008. His Pro is Kofi Kingston and his WWE ring name sucks the big one. How they acknowledge yet ignore THAT legacy at once is beyond me.

*Alex Riley has been someone WWE has been trying to bring up to the main roster for some time, as he's had test runs in both babyface and heel roles with dark matches.  He's been signed since 2007. At one point, Riley was paired as a college frat boy heel with the since departed Beverly Mullins. His Pro will be The Miz, the lone Pro returning for the second "season."
