Tyler Black hasn't been medically cleared to wrestle yet following his neck surgery, so he'll be missing the 9/10 and 9/11 ROH on HD Net television tapings in Philadelphia, PA. ROH was aware this might be a possibility, so they weren't caught off-guard. Colt Cabana will replace Black against Nigel McGuinness on Thursday. No word who will replace him against Kenny King on Friday. Black is now slated to return next week in Dayton and Chicago.
Ring of Honor also announced that on their final night in the company, the 9/26 Glory by Honor event in New York City, Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness will now face each other. This actually makes sense as you don't want one farewell to overshadow the other and since they are both leaving the storylines, it's smarter for the company to give fans one last rematch of their classic bouts while moving forward with the rest of the crew. When I learned this morning the change might be a possibility, I immediately thought of the farewell Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko received from ECW fans in August 1995. If the emotion on 9/26 is even half as much, it's going to be an amazing, special moment.
The planned McGuinness vs. Roderick Strong bout for 9/26 has been bumped up one day to 9/25 in Boston, MA.
Austin Aries will still be defending the ROH title on 9/26 but his opponent hasn't been announced yet. Since ROH has been doing the Aries defends against "a name pulled out of a hat" gimmick, I wonder if they will do that here.
