2007 - MTV essentially cancelled Wrestling Society X and removed the series
from its lineup, which had only aired four of its 10 episodes on the network,
presumably due to the drop in ratings for the show. The main reason/rumor
given was that MTV had a problem with an occurrence on the fourth episode,
where Ricky Banderas (now TNA's Judas Mesias) threw a fireball in Vampiro's
face. That episode aired, with the fireball spot edited. MTV stated that the
series was to be "finished effective immediately", and after a two
week hiatus, returned. MTV seemed to be in a hurry to get rid of WSX, as they
aired five of the six the remaining episodes in a marathon from 11:00pm to
1:30am on March 13 and 14. The final episode, featuring an exploding steel
cage match main event between Team Dragon Gate (Genki Horiguchi and Masato
Yoshino) and The Filth and The Fury (Matt Cross and Teddy Hart), never aired
on television, but was included in Big Vision Entertainment's DVD, entitled
"Wrestling Society X: The Complete First (and Last) Season", which
was released in November 2007.
