Will Osprey reign as champion is starting to give me 2004 Benoit and 2014 Danielson vibes as they all got their big championship winning moment and then the company didn't know what to do next. Am I wrong for thinking this way about Osprey?
You might be right, but not for the reason I sense in the question. In the case of Daniel Bryan and Chris Benoit, they were two talents that weren’t usually who Vince McMahon would put the Title on so he didn’t really know how to book them. Ospreay is Tony Khan’s kind of wrestlers so that shouldn’t be the case here. If it comes to pass, it will fall on Tony not knowing how to book his own kind of wrestler.
It’s being reported that Iran is saying that they are planning attacks on the US after the Election. It’s being report that The US is saying that they will resume full on attacks on Iran after the election. Iran, through its proxy The Houthis, has already launched repeated attacks on Saudi Arabia, and that is before full on war resumes. The US has already told non-essential people to leave Saudi Arabia. Please tell me why WWE is oblivious to all of this and still planning to send its people into Saudi Arabia on November 7.
Clearly the simple, and to me disgusting, answer is money. Saudi Arabia pays WWE tens of millions of dollars for events like Crown Jewel and WWE wants to collect on that revenue. Normally, as a capitalist and an investor, I would be all for that.
But in this case?
With the hostilities in the region?
With The Houthis already showing that they can kill people with Saudi Arabia being unable to stop them?
With the extremely unpredictable nature of The Houthis and the ability to use drones in a way that has never been used before the Russian War in Ukraine?
With both Iran and The Houthis’ desire to make a statement by hurting Americans and American institutions?
With Saudi Arabia’s inability to stop all of the attacks that are happening on their soil?
This is a time where a company should look at all of the factors in play and postpone Crown Jewel. It’s just ridiculously irresponsible to me for them to send their talent and their employees into a country that is under siege the way Saudi Arabia, especially when a target has been place on America and it’s institutions.
To me, there is no way that WWE should send their talent into that situations, none. But, I think that is exactly what they are going to do.
Has it ever been more clear what major corporations think…of us? First, we have the NFL holding their game in Paris, France today. Add that to the crazy Jalen Hurts blood clot situation (where they were too concerned with him sleeping, yet he played an NFL game and flew overseas…). Now, of course we have WWE/TKO refusing to budge simply because of $$$. Gotta love major companies being honest, huh?
As I said above, I am all for capitalism but putting making money ahead of people and their safety is just disgusting to me.
Have you ever seen a Buck Robley "Don't Call Me Yellow" t-shirt for sale? I would pay way too much. If not for that arm injury, it could have been Robley-Mania running wild in the 80s.
I have not but there are a lot of places online where you can have a shirt made. Maybe give that a try.
