Former WWF, WCW and ECW star Charles "2 Cold Scorpio" Scaggs, 60, was sentenced to six years in prison today after pleading guilty on charges of assault - second degree as well as armed criminal action, PWInsider.com has learned.
However, the court has also ruled Scaggs, who had no criminal history before his arrest, has an immediate chance to earn probation after completing an intensive 120-day program. In Missouri, Instead of serving the entire sentence, a defendant can be sent to a specific DOC facility to complete an intensive, highly structured, boot-camp-style program designed to deliver a "shock" to the offender. Upon completion of the 120 days, the Department of Corrections submits a report and recommendation to the court regarding the defendant's conduct and progress. If successful, the court can grant probation, releasing Scaggs from prison to serve the remainder of his six-year term under supervision in the community. If unsuccessful, the judge can deny probation, which would reqire Scaggs to serve out the remainder of the full 6-year prison sentence. So, we should know an additional update in early 2027.
Scorpio was taken into custody on 9/17 and jailed after prosecutors filed a motion seeking to revoke his bond and have him remanded to jail. During the 9/17 hearing, Scaggs acknowledged he had brandished a firearm, which was in violation of his bond. Court records for the hearing noted, "Court finds and believes Defendant to be clearly in violation of his bond conditions, and that said violation is a danger to public safety."
Scaggs was arrested in June 2024 after getting into a fight with a man during an incident at the Love's Travel Stop, where Scaggs was working as a security guard. According to a TMZ.com report at the time, Scaggs and the man got into the incident at 3:40 AM that morni when Scaggs told the man to put out a lit cigarette. The man told authorities he thought his cigarette was out before he entered the building but conceded it may not have been full extinguished. Scaggs told authorities that when he told the man he could not smoke inside, the man responded with "What are you going to do?" and there was a physical incident once the two went outside.
TMZ reported, "During the scuffle, Scaggs told authorities he pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed the guy in self-defense. The wrestler said the altercation went on for several more moments -- and in the squabble, he got in a few more stabs too. Cops say when they arrived on the scene, they found the guy who was stabbed lying on the ground ... bleeding from his head, chest, buttocks, legs and abdomen. They added that he was transported to a local hospital ... as he was going in and out of consciousness. According to the docs, though, investigators were able to make contact with him at the medical facility later in the day ... where they say he told them Scaggs was the aggressor in the situation."
The two sides agreed to a plea deal ahead of a scheduled trial and the hope among Scaggs' friends was that he would get a light sentence, but then he was caught brandishing the firearm on video that was sent to prosecutors. The fear among Scaggs' friends at that point was that he would likely be hit with a harder sentence due to the infraction.
Over the course of his career, Scaggs performed for WCW, ECW, the WWF, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH, Philadelphia's Pro Wrestling Unplugged and countless other promotions. He had a long run with the ECW World Television Championship and held the ECW World Tag Team titles with The Sandman. Scaggs last wrestled in August 2025.
A number of former ECW stars rallied around Scaggs to help fundraise in his defense, including Tod Gordon, The Sandman and Bill Alfonso.
