10/6 AEW DYNAMITE: GRAND SLAM FRANCE REPORT

AEW Dynamite is live (on tape) from the Adidas Arena in Paris, France. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Nigel McGuinness, and Tony Schiavone.

Bandido (Ring of Honor World Champion) w/Brody King vs. Kofi w/Austin Creed

They hug to start the match, and they lock up and move to waistlocks and arm bars. They break, and Bandido dances. They lock up again and move to arm bars. Kofi breaks free and dances as well. They lock up again, and Bandido gets a side headlock. They run the ropes, and Bandido tries for a hip toss, but Kofi blocks it. Bandido gets a monkey flip, and Kofi lands on his feet. Kofi gets a money flip, and Bandido lands on his feet. Bandido picks the leg for two. Kofi gets a dropkick, and Bandido goes to the floor and then walks away before Kofi dives. Kofi gets a dropkick before Bandido gets in the ring and then a dive. 

Bandido is rolled into the ring, and Kofi comes off the top into Bandido’s arms, and Bandido holds him in a stalling vertical suplex for 19 before dropping him. 

Swerve Strickland and Prince Nan come to the ring, which means Hangman Adam Page comes to the ring as well, and we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Kofi hits a famouser, a dropkick, and then they fight in the corner. Kofi gets a splash from the top for two. Kofi gets a clothesline and follows with the Boom Drop. Bandido gets a thrust kick and a tornado from the top for two. Kofi gets a springboard leg lariat for two. Bandido gets a series of kicks and then charges into each other in the ropes. Bandido runs into a big boot from Kofi. Kofi goes to the top and then climbs down and charges into strikes from Bandido. Bandido comes off the top, and Kofi catches him and gets a spin slam, and both men are down in the corner.

Kofi goes to the top and leaps onto Bandido’s back for two. Kofi goes back to the top, and Bandido catches him there and joins him. Bandido gets a block buster from the top for two, and Kofi grabs the bottom rope. Bandido tries for an X-Knee, and Kofi blocks it and turns it into a spin slam for two.

At this point, Page and Swerve start throwing hands at ringside. They are pulled apart by their partners, and inside the ring, Bandido gets the 21 Plex for the pin and the win.

Next up is a video where Renee Paquette explains the rules for the Clockwork Carnage Championship match at WrestleDream. She did a good job, but am I the only one who thinks Mike Tenay should have given a PowerPoint presentation to explain it for old times’ sake?

She then interviews Will Ospreay with Speedball Mike Bailey about his feelings about the match, and Ospreay says he came up with the idea of the match. Bailey says he will be trying to get into the match, and if he does qualify, he won’t hold anything back. 

Samoa Joe vs Jungle Jack Perry - Clockwork Carnage Qualifying match

Perry charges at Joe and Joe just gives him a body slam. Joe tries for a splash in the corner, but Perry dodges and lays in a chop, and Joe is just annoyed by it. Joe shoves Perry down, and Perry hits a shotgun dropkick and follows up with a blow. Perry gets a leaping forearm and kicks. Joe whips Perry into the ropes, and Perry comes off with a clothesline that knocks Joe down. Perry charges at Joe in the corner, and Joe catches him and spikes him. 

Perry goes to the floor, and Joe follows him and hits a back elbow. Joe lays in chops on the floor. They return to the ring, and Joe goes back to hitting chops that drop Perry. Joe bows to the crowd, who cheer loudly for him. Joe works over Perry in the corner with jabs and strikes. Perry dodges a splash in the corner and comes off the top as Joe walks out of the way. 

Joe goes back to chops that knock Perry to the mat. Joe then changes to jabs, and Perry gets a kick that knocks Joe to the apron and then into the corner. Perry gets ten in the corner, following up by slamming Joe’s head into the middle turnbuckle with his foot. Joe ends Perry’s run with a back elbow. Perry gets a dropkick and tries to pick Joe up for a piledriver, and Joe gets a back body drop, but Perry gets a rollup for two. Perry locks on the snare trap, and Joe gets to the rope for the break.

They both go to the floor, and Perry gets a kick around the ringpost. Joe gets a STO on the floor. Joe rolls into the ring, and the ref continues to count. Perry gets in the ring at 9 and lies on the apron, giving Joe the finger. Joe gets a senton and into a rear naked choke. Perry rolls rough for a two-count. Perry gets a kick, goes to the top, and Joe gets a leaping kick. Joe hits the muscle buster for the pin and the win.

Winner and qualifying for Clockwork Carnage: Samoa Joe

We get a promo from Kazuchika Okada, who says that while his English has gotten better, he can now speak French, which he does. The crowd booed whatever he said. He says the French will have to build a monument to him, the Arch of Okada. He then says the Rainmaker will become the new World Champion.

Jon Moxley (AEW Continental Champion) and Gabe Kidd vs. Jake Doyle and Mark Davis

Kidd and Davis start the match by charging at each other and then throwing chops. Kidd grabs a headlock and goes to the ropes, where Doyle gets a blind tag. Davis and Doyle hit a double shoulder tackle, and Kidd went back to his corner. Mos is tagged in, and he and Doyle go face to face. Mox charges into Doyle, who doesn’t go down. On the third shoulder tackle. Doyle finally drops. Mox gets a slap mare, a sliding lariat, and Kidd hits a senton for two. 

Kidd gets a series of head butts in the corner and knocks himself silly. Doyle gets a strike out of the corner. Doyle gets a big clothesline, and Davis and Mox get into the ring and charge into each other, and Mox clotheslines Davis to the floor before diving onto him on the floor, but Davis doesn’t drop. They charge into each other again, and both go down.

Kidd and Doyle batter each other in the ring until they clothesline each other down and then go to their corner. They charge at each other and knock each other down in the middle of the ring as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Mox tags in and gets a King Kong lariat on Doyle, followed by the juji gitame, but Doyle forces his way free. Mox grabs a rear chinlock, and Doyle works to his feet, gets to the rope, and goes to the floor. Davis gets into the ring and hits a lariat and knocks Kidd off the apron as well. Davis goes to the floor where he works over Kidd, and Doyle power bombs Mox for two. Davis is tagged in, and they stomp Mox on the mat. Mox escapes a power bomb from Davis and delivers a cutter. 

Kidd is tagged in and goes to work on Davis. Davis grabs Kidd, who escapes and hits two lariats that do nothing. Davis gets an insigiri, but Kidd comes off the ropes with a lariat for two. Davis bashes his head into the top turnbuckle to charge up, and hits a brain buster for two, broken up by Doyle. Doyle sets for a power bomb, and Mox grabs a rear chinclock to stop it. Mox pulls Doyle out of the ring. Kidd gets a running knee strike and tries to grab Davis, who gets a back body drop. 

Davis misses a lariat, and Kidd gets a back drop suplex and another. Davis gets a lariat and a piledriver for the pin and the win.

Winners: Jake Doyle and Mark Davis.

In the back, we get a promo from Nick Wayne, who tells Chris Jericho that he sees him as a multi-time world champion. 

Darby Allin (TNT Champion) vs. Kyle Fletcher

They start by throwing hands, and Kyle forces him to the corner. Darby charges and gets a dropkick on Kyle and then dives, but Kyle catches him and lawn-darts him into the barricade. Kyle charges again, and Darby avoids it and bites Kyle. Darby climbs to the top of the ring post and hits a cross body over the barricade onto Kyle. 

Darby dives onto Kyle when Kyle starts to head back to the ring. Darby puts Kyle on the announce desk and joins him. They fight on the desk. Kyle then gets a back body drop on Darby from one desk to the other. Darby is rolled into the ring, and Kyle gets a leaping stomp on Darby, who rolls to the apron. They fight through the ropes, and Darby tries for a sunset flip. Kyle rolls through, but Darby kicks his legs out and gets a guillotine choke. Kyle works to his feet and gets a body slam on Darby.

Kyle hits a second body slam, goes to the top to pose, and we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Kyle picks up Darby, who escapes. Kyle gets a thrust kick. Darby gets sliced bread into a scorpion death drop, but Kyle pulls off the turnbuckle pad. 

Both men slowly get up and throw hands in the middle of the ring. Kyle turns Darby inside out with a lariat. Darby gets a roll-up for two. Kyle gets a Michinoku driver for two. Darby is put on top, and Kyle joins him. They go back and forth, and Darby gets a Code Red from the top into another Code Red for two. 

Darby goes to the top for a coffin drop onto the apron, but Kyle rolls out of the way. Kyle gets a running kick into a sheer drop brain buster for two. Kyle gets a half-and-half suplex. Darby crawls to the corner, and Kyle lays in strikes. Darby fires shots back, and Kyle knocks Darby into the corner, the one with exposed steel. Kyle hits a turnbuckle brain buster on the steel.

Kyle starts selling the knee, and Darby is busted open. Kyle covers for two. Kyle gets a series of crossface blows and tries for a power bomb. Darby reverses it, and Kyle’s head hits the exposed turnbuckle. Darby gets a scorpion death lock, and Kyle gets to the ropes for the break. Darby hits a pair of Coffin Drops for the pin and the win.

Winner and still TNT Champion: Darby Allin.

We then get a promo from the Dogs, who are challenging the Young Bucks for the Tag Team titles on Saturday.

In the back, Aminata cuts a quick promo in French with Renee Paquette.

Mercedes Mone (AEW Women’s Champion) vs. Queen Aminata

Aminata lays in forearms and then gets a backbreaker. Aminata gets ten in the corner. Aminata gets a snapmare and tries for chocolate kisses, and Mone escapes. Mone gets a spinning takedown. Aminata escapes and gets chocolate kisses on Mone. Aminata gets a PK and then charges for a kick that Mone avoids. Mone gets a dragon screw in the ropes and follows with a meteora on the floor as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Aminata gets a headbutt for two. Aminata gets a pair of lariats and then a snap suplex into the corner. Aminata misses a face wash, and Mone gets a roll-up for two. Aminata follows with a roll-up for two. Mone gets a knee strike and follows with three amigoes, but Aminata blocks the third into a neck breaker for two. Mone gets a back stabber and then hits a sunset bomb into the corner. 

Mone misses a charge in the corner, and Aminata gets a face wash. She follows with a diving foot stomp for two. They go back and forth, and Aminata gets a back suplex. Aminata gets a running knee strike to the floor. Mone is rolled into the ring, and Mone rolls across the ring to the floor. Aminata follows her, and Mone pulls Aminata into a chair at ringside.

Aminata is set in the chair, and Mone charges, but Aminata gets a drop toe hold into the chair. Aminata goes to the apron and gets a running dropkick. Aminata rolls Mone into the ring and covers for two. Aminata goes to the top and misses a stomp from the top, and Mone rolls out of the way and gets a lung blower. Mone gets a money maker for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW World Champion: Mercedes Mone

Thekla hits a spear on Mone and goes for a curb stomp, but Mone rolls out of the ring, leaving the belt. Thekla swings the belt from her waist and drops it on the mat. 

There is a hype video for the feud between Page and Swerve. At WrestleDream, there will be a two-out-of-three falls match betweenPage and Brodio vs. Swerve and New Level.

Will Ospreay (AEW World Champion) vs Kazuchika Okada

Don Callis joins commentary. 

They lock up and move to arm bars. Okada picks the leg, and neither gets an advantage on the mat, so they break. Okada goes to the floor and heads toward the back. He then mocks the crowd’s singing and returns to the ring. They lock up, and Okada backs Ospreay into the ropes, and Okada gives the Okada break with the chest taps. They run the ropes, and Okada gets a shoulder tackle while Ospreay kips up. Ospreay gets a monkey flip, and Okada gets a head scissors. Okada tries for a Rainmaker, and Ospreay avoids it. 

They lock up with a Greco-Roman knuckle lock. Okada kicks free, and they run the ropes. Ospreay gets a tejaris and then dives onto Okada on the floor. Okada is rolled into the ring, and Ospreay hits a scoop slam. He drops the knee and covers for two. Ospreay gets an arm bar, and Okada fights free. They fight in the corner, and Ospreay gets a boot up. Okada gets a dropkick, and we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Ospreay gets a leaping kick followed by lariats. They fight in the corner, and Ospreay gets a leaping forearm for two. Ospreay gets a series of upkicks and charges at Okada in the corner. Okada catches him and hits a shoulder breaker. Okada gets a scoop slam and goes to the top for the elbow drop. Okada then flips off the crowd. Ospreay backs Okada into the corner and gets a flip kick and an insigiri. He goes for a standing sky twister, and Okada gets the knees up. 

Okada goes for a dropkick, and Ospreay turns it into a power bomb for two. They throw hands in the middle of the ring. They move to the apron where Ospreay gets a cutter, and Okada drops to the floor. Ospreay gets a dropkick as Okada gets into the ring. Okada blocks a cutter, tries for a Rainmaker, and Ospreay avoids it. Okada hits a dropkick and hits the second for two. Okada tries for a pickup, and Ospreay blocks it. Okada gets an upset and a shotgun dropkick. He whips Ospreay into the ropes for another dropkick and misses a Rainmaker, and Ospreay gets a Rainmaker over his own for one. Ospreay is able to hit the Styles Clash for two.

They reverse finishers back and forth, and Okada hits a pair of Rainmakers. Okada tries for a two, but Ospreay gets a hidden blade. Ospreay hits a second hidden blade for two. Ospreay gets a Stormbreaker for two. Ospreay hits a hidden blade for the pin and the win.
