Spotlight Match: World Class Channing Thomas taps out Jodi Aura after a really solid match. This was one of the best work rate spotlight matches I’ve seen in a minute.
Match 1: Aaron Ortiz pins Joseph Zamora with a blockbuster - Aaron Ortiz is flying high after that win over Kylon King this week. Zamora may not have watched that one because he treated the former Shooter Boy like a joke. Plenty of disrespect from the “Latino Reel” but they put on a very good opening show for us tonight full of close calls and near falls on both sides. Zamora almost resorts to striking Ortiz with his 360 camera but the ref pulls that back. After the match, Ortiz has words for Kylon King. Mr Disrespect doesn’t take the disrespect of being attacked last week by Colton Charles after he beat King. So next week? At “No Respect”? Ortiz is coming after Colton.
Match 2: Nessa Ferrari pins Paris Van Dale with a rollup - Paris may be a snot but she had her working shoes on tonight with Nessa. Nessa is very early into her career but you can see the progress week over week. Good back and forth match, I had no idea which direction this was going until the very end.
Match 3: Brick City (Julio Cruz & Victor Chase) pin Wrench & Resolve (Jake Gray & Erik Chacha) after Hit The Bricks connects - Worcester might love Wrench & Resolve but Brick City has gone back to full brute squad mode. Gray and Chacha try to stay nimble but that only lasts so long. Brick City on the mic. Why do they keep attacking Love Doug? He’s SOFT. But now Brad Hollister? He’s not where near the chief he used to be. Brick City is coming after Doug and Brad next week at No Respect!
Match 4: TJ Crawford murders All Go Nelli with a buzzsaw kick and a falcon arrow for the three - it’s interesting that TJ is nowhere near this Big Business drama with Brick City. Yet? Anyways, Nelli doesn’t get an entrance so you know how this will go. Nelli puts up a bit of a fight and a tornado ddt actually gets a two. But TJ was just too much. “The takeover has begun” TJ yells into the mic before he leaves. Nelli is UPSET at this.
Match 5: Danny Miles beats Rain Conway with a Dreamcrusher slam - now THIS should be a slaughter. Rain runs his mouth and calls Danny short and asks what he did to deserve a match with Wonderboy Brian Morris…who isn’t here I guess? Rain get a move in with gives him all the confidence in the world…to walk into a chokeslam. And then Steven Stetson comes out to provide a massive distraction for Rain. Stetson taunts Danny as Conway puts a beating on him. It’s clear Rain picked up a ton of experience in his wars with Tim Thatcher and Jonathan Gresham. Danny finally bounces Stetsons face off the apron before finishing off Conway. Stetson immediately attacks and leaves Danny laying, saying that he will personally take out the turncoat Bobby Casale next week.
Match 6: Devin Reno loses to Ichiban by Count out - This is a banger. I expected it to be. Ichiban is the first Open champ and Reno is climbing that mountain. I know we’re getting this run back on Monday as part of Bear Bronson challenge to him so it’s great to see how much of a show they are putting on here. They take each other to the absolute limit tonight. Reno kicks the rope into Ichiban’s Nethers and hits his vertical cutter for the three but Ref Gina restarts the match when she sees Ichiban’s foot on the rope. Reno decides to abandon the match after a 14 minute war and heads to the back. We’ll pick this back up on Monday.
It’s time for the Discovery Gauntlet. You gotta win it to stay in it!
Match 7: Tony Navarro beats J Bouji to take over the Discovery Gauntlet - Tony is the Big Cheese and he’s up here to take this over this here Discovery Gauntlet. He’s right outta the Sopranos. Worcester likes him. Bouji lands a throat thrust out of the corner when ref Tiger ain’t looking. Bouji hits his springboard cutter but decides to pull the pin. Ref Tiger gets knocked out. Tony hits an electric chair German and this SHOULD be over. Bouji with the blindside. He grabs a crowbar. Jodi Aura runs out and stops this. Big popup into a kick! Tony’s back up! He hits a spinning slam that puts Bouji down just in time for Ref Steiger to make the count!
Main Event: Bear Bronson DESTROYS the Breadwinners (Cash McGuiness & Oatrick Wheatman - Bear gave 23 Hazard the night off so he could beat with his little henchmen this week…so they won’t be able to interfere in the title match next week! The Breadwinners are all bravado but you can tell they are very worried when staring down the champ himself. Bronson beats the f***********************ck out of these kids. He chops them up. He throws them around. He bounces them off merch tables. They try to run away but Bear drag them back from backstage. Cash screaming that he’s sorry. Bear goes for the kill but Wheatman does something useful and pulls Bear to the floor. The Breadwinners are getting some offense in! They are operating as a unit and keeping the champ down! They get a two count! It doesn’t last. Bronson is inevitable. He lets them take their best shots. They try. They do. Bear hits a double Samoan drop and a fire thunder driver to Cash wraps it up in a very satisfying cathartic main event.
Wheatman grabs a pipe wrench and smashes Bear when he celebrates. Wheatman lets Bear know that his title defense against 23 Hazard next week will be NO DQ!
“Well, THAT was stupid. You lay me out with a wrench and then REWARD ME with No Rules?” says Bear. Hahahahahahahaha!
