This week’s episode of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling Mayhem is from St Clair College in Windsor, Ontario. Our commentary team is Don Callis and Mauro Ranallo.
Ace Austin vs Jonathan Gresham
Gresham calls for a handshake, and Ace shakes his hand. They lock up, and Gresham picks the leg. They go back and forth, and Gresham goes to the floor to stall. He returns to the ring, and they lock up with a Greco-Roman knuckle lock, and Ace forces Gresham down. Gresham rises, and they move to chain wrestling. They trade arm bars, and Gresham gets a hammerlock. He holds on before bailing to the floor as Ace’s arm is hurt by this.
Gresham gets back in the ring and gets a side headlock takeover. Ace gets a pair of arm drags. They each try to follow up and block the other’s pickup. Gresham picks up Ace and puts him on the apron. Gresham holds the ropes for Ace, and Gresham gets a chop block after Ace gets in the ring, and we go to commercial.
When we return, Ace has reversed a figure four, and Gresham grabs the rope for the break. Ace tries to charge at Gresham. But his leg gives out. Gresham runs the ropes and holds the ropes when Ace leaps, and Ace’s leg gives out. Ace is on the apron and gets a forearm and then a springboard crossbody for two.
Ace gets a disaster kick for two. Ace gets to his feet. And can’t pick up Gresham at first but is able to, but Gresham escapes out the back. Gresham gets a sunset flip, and they see-saw in cradles back and forth until they are rolling around the ring, and Ace finally gets a two count before they break.
Gresham gives himself up for a strike, and Ace chops him. Gresham fires back. Ace knocks Gresham down to one knee with a chop. They then start throwing forearms. Ace knocks Gresham down, and Gresham unwraps the tape on his wrist. Gresham gets a chop to the swimsuit area. Ace is able to reverse Gresham’s takedown and gets a bridge for the pin and the win.
Winner: Ace Austin
Nice match, loved the story told in the ring, and it highlighted Gresham’s heel personality.
Psycho Mike is talking to himself in the mirror of the locker room, and he feels like when he gets a chance to move forward, someone else takes the opportunity. He wonders if he is just the guy in the background.
Judas Icarus and Travis Williams get another vignette to lay out their characters.
Jody Threat vs. Alexia Nicole
They lock up and move to arm bars. Threat forces Nicole to the mat, and Nicole works to her feet. Nicole gets a side headlock takeover and they work to the feet. Threat reverses into a waistlock, and Nicole gets a back elbow, a head scissors takedown, and a dropkick. Threat gets a forearm, but Nicole gets a thrust kick. Nicole goes for a tejaris, and Threat blocks it and then gets an elbow shot. Threat gets a double knee strike in the ropes followed by a German suplex.
Threat gets an F5 for the pin and the win.
Winner: Jody Threat
We get a promo from Adam Copeland, responding to Steve Maclin’s promo from last week. Cope responds to the charge that he’s not Canadian by stating he pisses Molson’s and maple syrup. He ends by challenging Maclin to a match at the Pay-Per-View.
Steve Maclin joins commentary and says he will be at Northern Rising to face Copeland.
Michael Allen Richard Clark vs. Zach Gowen
Clark mocks Gowen and then does push-ups, which is his gimmick. Gowen goes for an ankle pick, and Clark bails from the ring. Clark picks the leg, but misses an elbow drop. Gowen gets a dropkick, a leg drop, and covers for two. Clark gets a back body drop and then a front facelock into a delayed vertical suplex, but Gowen turns it into a rollup for two. Clark gets a series of stomps.
Clark then does push-ups on Gowen's back and then on his leg. Clark works over Gowen in the corner. He picks up Gowen, and Gowen escapes and gets a big boot. Clark tries to charge, but Gowen dodges, and Clark hits the ring post from the inside of the ring. Gowen gets a moonsault from the top for the pin and the win.
Winner: Zach Gowen
We get a continuation of the interview with Rohan Raja about his time in Mexico, and he challenges any luchador to a match at Northern Rising.
1st Faction talks about the other tag teams in MLP wanting to take their titles. They mock them, and we are told there will be a Number One Contender’s match between four tag teams next week.
Stu Grayson (MLP Interim Canadian Champion) vs Johnny TV.
They circle each other for a bit, and Stu gets a bodyslam and then covers for two. They lock up and TV picks the leg, but Stu reverses it for a two count and follows with an arm drag. They work arm bars, and they fight in the corner. TV tries to suplex Stu from the apron, but Stu fights out of it and sweeps TV's leg. Stu then dives onto TV on the apron. Stu charges at TV and uses the ring steps, but misses. TV gets a tornado dive through the ropes as we go to commercial.
When we return, Stu is firing chops in the middle of the ring. They run the ropes, and Stu gets a sunset flip, but TV rolls through and hits a Shining Wizard for two. TV gets a series of blows in the corner and then runs into a big boot from Stu. Stu gets a series of blows and gets a running clothesline. They fight in the corner, and Stu gets a tornado DDT. Stu tries for a springboard moonsault, but TV gets the knees up. TV gets a pair of clotheslines and a leg lariat. He misses a Shining Wizard and leaps into a bear hug by Stu.
Stu starts with the suplexes. Stu gets a springboard moonsault for two. Stu misses a running knee but gets a facebreaker slam into a two-count. TV fights out of a fireman’s carry and gets a gut wrench into a springboard kick for two. Stu gets a small package for two. TV gets the Moonlight Drive and then tries for Starship Pain, and Stu rolls out of the way. TV drops Stu and goes to the top. Stu joins him there and gets a superplex. Stu gets a V Trigger. Stu gets Nightfall for the pin and the win.
Winner and still MLP Interim Canadian Champion: Stu Grayson.
Stu grabs a mic and says the last time he was in the ring, it was to celebrate winning the title, but before anything could happen, Josh Alexander made his return. Josh returning isn’t the problem; the problem is that Josh returned when he wasn’t cleared to wrestle. Next Time Josh interrupts him, he had better be ready to fight. He says he is easy to find. He is the champion In The Ring.
